Special Relationship Over? Britain Talks of Boycotting America
FOXNATION ^ | June 13, 2010 | Jonathan Oliver

The special relationship is over. We gave America years of unwavering support after September 11. And now we see how Barack Obama’s administration repays us.

First, Obama declared that America was “neutral” over the sovereignty of the Falklands, ignoring the clear wishes of the islands’ population. And, second, his Assistant Secretary of State, Philip Crowley, snubbed Britain by failing to use their proper name and instead calling them the “Malvinas”.

I don’t know where Obama learned about diplomacy, but his stinks...

Let me be clear: I’m not normally in favour of boycotts, and I love the American people. I holiday in their country regularly, and hate the tedious snobby sneers against the United States. But the American people chose to elect an idiot who seems hell bent on insulting their allies, and something must be done to stop Obama’s reckless foreign policy, before he does the dirty on his allies on every issue.

I think Obama hates Great Britain because of the history of their colonial rule of Kenya. Half of his family comes from Kenya, and to be fair British colonial rule in many countries was brutal to say the least (Jamaica for example). But, this is 2010, and he is the President of the United States, I certainly hope he grows up and can starting looking beyond his personal biases and do what is best for this country.

They were all for us electing Obama before the election.

70% for Obama, 14% for McCain.

I'm sure the Brits will be very irritated by that pointed reminder. They were eager for 0bama to take us (the US) down a peg or two but they didn't know he would take our erstwhile allies down with us.

Right with you there Jonathan but with a small correction. Any UK freepers reading please note: Barry Soetoro did not win a huge mandate. I believe he won with 52% of the popular vote, but since the states elect a president it seems like a bigger margin. He only squeaked into office by a small margin despite a very weak opponent and a slavishly fawning media. Still, only a bare majority were fooled. This last 19 months of the Soetoro Regime has not gained him any new support and it's only the die-hard left, naive college students and the a-political who are still fooled by the mau mau president. Please don't blame all the American people for this Obomination

I guess as the leader of the largest Muslim nation in the world he plans on resetting our allegiances and friends lists.

"Impeach King Obama as soon as we get the House and Senate!"

No I don't think that would succeed. Just keep him around and defund all his pet projects AND ALL HIS NON GOVERNMENT ALLIES LIKE ACORN (AND SUCCESSORS) AND THE UNIONS.

I seem to remember the many British newspaper whining and wailing about how STOOOOOPID Americans were for reelecting Bush. And then how WONDERFUL we were for voting for Obama.

For those of us who knew what he was... screw you. Don’t come whining to me because you GOT WHAT YOU WANTED.

You have got to be kidding. Zero has no intention of doing what is best for this country. His goal is to destroy us.

Hmmm, correct me if I’m wrong, but weren’t the Europeans peeing themselves with excitement over Obama becoming POTUS?

This is heartbreaking, but until the heartland cleans house on November 3rd, it may be necessary.

My grandfather was given a medal by Queen Mary when she gave him a lift when he was hitchhiking (no joke!!). It’s a treasured family heirloom. I hope the Lord has him busy so he’s not watching what’s happening to his beloved country.

...Brits seem to have very short memories. They were all for us electing Obama before the election.

Latest polls from America have McCain and Obama in a near statistical deal heat. CNN recently reported Obama leading by a mere 3% with RealClearPolitics reporting a lead for Obama of just 2.5%. America clearly has not decided. However, Great Britain has for sure! Obamania has crossed the Atlantic and taken Britain by storm. A poll in Britain gave Obama 73% of the vote to McCain's poor 27%. This startling statistic begets the question, why is this the case? Why do the British prefer Obama so significantly more than McCain?

Yep... poor memory.

I am sorry of this is rude, but I have to ask.

What did your grandfather do with Queen Mary in that car to earn a medal?

I believe it was the Mirror which was so openly scornful of Americans and declared 59,000,000 of us stupid after Bush’s second election. Although the rest of the British press was a little more circumspect with their headlines, it was obvious that their contempt floated right beneath the surface.

Before you condemn Obama for dumping on this so-called ally, take a read on some british websites and get a glimpse of what the average Brit thinks of us. I don’t mean their left-wing sites obviously they are not blood pressure friendly, but try the Sun. It is eye opening, and good luck trying to find a brit with a kind word for any American. I have the feeling this will positively be the only thing that I will ever agree with Obama about.

Anyone was going to be better than Bush, but shoot, Mr. Hope and Change doesn’t satisfy them either. I have a middle finger that normally I would never use to express my opinion, but I will start flexing it especially for our british cousins. (spit)

Please do! Just as the blacks in South Africa realized that, despite the short-term pain, there was long-term gain to be had from other countries boycotting the old racist government, so too, do we recognize that there is more to be gained in the long-term by such a boycott! Teach the effing liberals a lesson.
