In a bombshell development that could bring a halt to seismic changes in college realignment, sources tell Orangebloods.com Texas is at the table with the 10 remaining Big 12 schools working on a TV deal put forth by commissioner Dan Beebe that would hold the conference together.

Here’s hoping, but this contradicts ESPN’s reporting. Let’s hope this one is right.

Just looking at the two sites, I can't tell which report would be more recent. But if they are meeting now, as the Orangebloods site says, maybe they are serious about keeping the Big 12 together.

Beginning at 2:00 CDT, Paul Finebaum in Birmingham will be talking about this, and trying to get current information, I’m sure. It was on his show last week that Texas A&M regent Gene Stallings first gave strong indications that he and others might prefer the SEC for A&M.

Finebaum has been popular in Alabama and surrounding staters for years and now has gone national on one of the satellite channels.

Texas A&M is now most likely to join the SEC according to ESPN and reliable SEC sources confirm A&M has been invited.

If A&M comes over to the SEC, then one other team (most say VA Tech, Clemson, Fla St or Miami) will come to the SEC. Others say UVA state officials would not allow VA Tech to move. I’m also told that USC will not agree to Clemson moving to the SEC?

Does anyone know about Southern Mississippi chances of joining the SEC?

espn has no clue what is going on (so far Chip Brown has the best information that I've seen); and I just can't stand espn.
Maybe Arkansas, but I don't see LSU as a natural rival; they certainly wouldn't be the kind of rival that Texas currently is, since they have stronger traditions with other SEC schools and more hate.

Even with the reports that they are trying to save the Big12, I just don't see it happening.

Connection to Bama is weak imho, not really the stuff rivalries are made of, plus they’re further removed than an LSU or Arky.

I think you have your facts all wrong. That the Big-12 came to this juncture can be squarely placed at the feet of tu.

We won in 2006 & 2007, lost in 2008 & 2009 (barely) and will probably win this year.

Don't see any ACC teams coming over. They have renegotiated their contract, and Miami has come out against leaving the ACC.

The other thing to keep in mind is if the TXLege will let A&M and Texas go there separate ways.
