WikiLeaks Preparing to Release Video of Alleged U.S. Massacre in Afghanistan
ABC News ^ | 18 June 2010 | Meagan Chuchmach

As the founder of the whistleblower website WikiLeaks remains underground in fear that the U.S. will detain him, the site is preparing to release a leaked video of a U.S. airstrike in Afghanistan that is said to be more shocking than the Iraqi video that sent its controversial leader into hiding.

Julian Assange, who has been garnering more attention since it was announced that Pentagon investigators are looking for him, told his supporters in an email this week that he has a classified video of a U.S. attack on Afghan civilians.

In an interview airing today on "Brian Ross Investigates," a weekly investigative news magazine show airing on ABC News Now and Hulu.com, a member of the Icelandic Parliament who has worked closely with Assange said the Afghan video is expected to be released shortly.

"Treason of the first order."

Sadly, he's an Aussie living out of the country, and far from our legal grasp. He also operates his servers in one of the Scandinavian countries, so we can't even shut him down that way.

Wherever he is and to whatever country he holds allegiance, he's undeniably a clear and present danger to American intelligence services and our national security.

I was just going to post this!!

Anyway, isn’t this the same video that was debunked a while back?

It is severely edited and the original clearly shows those who were killed as armed and enemy combatants.

If it’s like the Iraq video, it will be highly redacted; missing key portions that show the validity of the action.

As the enemy refuses to wear uniforms or abide by the laws of war, how can anyone look at a video and claim that this person is a civilian and this person is an enemy? This is especially difficult when the enemy is known to use women and children as shields.

Wikileaks has the State Department cables from Hillary Clinton to various world leaders...but refuses to release them because the exposure would harm Democrats.

So...are human shields fair game?

Who specifically was the target and was the kill confirmed?

Or...was this a case like those tales of Vietnam helicopter gunners that “shot anything that moved”?

Amen. Can you imagine how these losers would have covered what the US did in World War 2?

The left allows our enemies to inflict nothing but collateral damage, but god forbid the US or Israel wounds a butterfly.

I wonder why there are no laws against that. It seems that they were repealed, sometime in the mid 1950s. /s

These images, which are almost surely nothing but propoganda, should be countered by showing pictures of the atrocities that the Taliban committed.

I have contended all along that we should have made an example out of Afghanstan. We wasted our chance. Bush was reserved, at least more reserved than i would have been. This only gave the leftists and traitors in the media the opportunity to create another Vietnam (which is what the lefties get a hard-on for, it was their glory days).

His nationality is irrelevant at this point. In fact, he is probably being shielded by proxies of Iran or Sunni extremists, if not directly by Iran.

He has chosen sides. He should remember he is an infidel and disposable to those he is supporting. Like i said, he will probably die at the hand of an extremist before someone makes him disappear.

“So...are human shields fair game?”

No, but if your standard is that there can be no collateral damage in a war, you have lost the war before you start.

The main problem is that a large percentage of the American populace have been lead to believe that they need not deal with reality. Reality is that those who do not use force to defend themselves end up as slaves to someone else, or rely on someone else to do their fighting for them. We have been enforcing a fairly effective pax Americana for 65 years, and a great number of people resent us for it.

He pretends it's the US government after him. Actually every major intelligence organization in the world has reason to put him out of business, unless I catch him first.

If he's working with Afghans and this area is the center of the Afghan diaspora in America, there's a good chance he'll roll through here and when that happens nobody around here cares if he's Aussie or a beanie-weanie. He'll be toast before he can get away.

Best bet, listen to the accents ~ Aussie is really rare ~

I never thought of them — that could be the turning point; where the concept of “treason” became “so yesterday”. You could probably add Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers, as another inflection point.

Hell of a video -- can identify civilians from combatants using combat footage.

This is NOT a new tape. If the tape is honest and not doctored, it will show that the alleged “reporters” or “civilians” who were killed, were carrying military weapons. The purveyors of this tape either have nothing interesting to offer, or have faked up the tape to make it seem like they have something to offer.

Since the issue has been around the barn more than six months ago, there cannot be ANY excuse for ANY US reporter or media outlet to get this wrong. That is, unless they WANT to present a bigoted story.

Since the whole U.S. Strategy is to secretly use Afghanistan as a nuclear weapons base (they smuggle the bombs in at night on submarines), giving us a more central spot to launch strikes against all the bad people Asia seems to produce, a few dead “civilians” don’t matter a bit.

I'm sure WikiLeaks will provide the video of those submarines docking in Afghanistan's largest seaport -- that's been going on since President Nixon's 1968 radio address to John Kerry and his buddies. ;')

Oh yeah. That guy is a traitor. He's likely to be charged with espionage (UCMJ Article 106a), which of course carries with it the penalty of death.

I think that you are naive if you think that they will put out a story that conflicts with their ideology. Say you find footage of BO taking a bribe, or offering assistance to the Taliban. Think they will show it? I doubt it. They would spike it.

Even more shocking than the first video?

The only thing shocking in the first video was that it was labelled ‘collateral murder’. They were clearly insurgents/terrorists planning an RPG attack on a US convoy.

Was I supposed to be shocked that the terrorists had a cameraman with them? The only thing that would shock me is if the cameraman wasn’t a Reuters/AP employee.
