Breaking: General Stanley McChrystal tenders his resignation

A senior Capitol Hill source tells me that General Stanley McChrystal had tendered his resignation to President Barack Obama and that the White House is actively discussing a replacement who could be quickly confirmed by the Senate.

The source said that among the names being touted as possible successors are General James Mattis, the outgoing head of the US Joint Forces Command and due to retire after being passed over as US Marine Corps commander, and Lieutenant General William Caldwell, commander of Nato’s Training Mission in Afghanistan.

Of course, offering to resign is not the same as actually resigning and it remains to be seen whether Mr Obama will accept the resignation.

Hard to blame him. Working for that marxist quisling had to be taxing.

It's unfortunate that the General did a MacArthur. It's also an indictment of Obama that his hand-picked choice to lead the effort said this out loud. How long before the next guy decides to tell the world about what a jerk Obama is?

Wonder whether any of the other perfumed princes will decline the ‘honor’.

Sad to say, I doubt it.

If Mattis takes it, that would be great. He ain’t no perfumed prince, that is a fact.

Well, it’ was Breaking News about 12 hours ago.

I’ve never, in 26 years of Military Service, ever, heard a General Officer, speak off the cuff.

Oh, I’ve heard them say stuff in private, but never public!

They go through what they call ‘Charm School” when they make the 1st star.

This was all calculated!

I’d rather have Obama quit, along with the entire Obama administration, please. Let Sarah Palin take over, now!

Yeah, that should improve military morale ................................................................................................................................. NOT !!!!

Then again, perhaps that was the intended purpose of the Obama regime.

I heard “The Monk” was retiring soon, so be very surprised if he did take the slot.

An hour after announcing his resignation he should hold another press conference and announce that he is running for President.

Seriously.

Good... Now Obama can get on with the serious business of losing the war without all of these distractions.

It's unfortunate that the General did a MacArthur.

What is unfortunate is that American voters elected a pathetically inexperienced and pathetically naive community organizer to be President of the United States.

A true patriot in the military decides:

1.) Country first

2.) Career second.

3.) Resigns and then tells it like it is.

General McChrystal waited too long to resign and American troops have died in vain because of that.

"This was all calculated!"<\i>

I think you give him too much credit, he did vote for the one after all. That shows he is not a smart man, IMHO.
