WASHINGTON - At a precarious moment in the war in Afghanistan, President Barack Obama prepared to hear his top war commander explain biting published complaints about the commander in chief and his aides. Even before their showdown, the White House's rebuke of Gen. Stanley McChrystal suggested it would be hard for him to save his job.
Ahead of his meeting with the president, McChrystal arrived at the Pentagon for meetings, including once scheduled with Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
On his arrival, he denied to NBC News that he's offered his resignation. "Come on, you know better than that. No!"

The thing about this bruhaha is that it’s all hearsay, what was reported was that aides to the General say he said x, y, and z. Not admissible in court. Not from the horses mouth. Hearsay. It’s actually kind of a betrayal/stupidity on the part of his staff to the general.
Man, oh man. So...did the White House deliberately plant this story to see what would happen...or...
“The general said that while he voted for Obama, the two men never hit it off in meetings last fall and he found the president unprepared.
However, McChrystal said Tuesday he has “enormous respect” for Obama and his team and emphasized his devotion to winning the war.
“I remain committed to ensuring its successful outcome,” he said.”
Voted for Zer0 and still likes Zer0.
The General should go in and tell idiot obama, he quits, then get out of his uniform and put on a business suit and announce he is running for President.
A guy with real stones. How unique.
The General may have suspected leaks and used the “I resigned” to ferret out who they were.
McC is “keeping O off-balance”. Yep, that’s his style.
Man BO must be terrified of this guy.
Yes, from the article in question, he now seems to adore Hillary Clinton.
Betcha McC simply cannot wait to face down these amateurs, especially the community-organizer-in-chief.
The General may have suspected leaks and used the I resigned to ferret out who they were.
Maybe he just found the aide that fed the damaging info to the Rolling Stone.
Obama’s playbook comes from Alinsky; McChrystal is using Sun-Tzu.
>>>>> "According to a post at BLACKFIVE, the reporter was originally only supposed to be there for 2 days but the Icelandic volcano eruption extended his visit for a few more weeks." <<<<<
Obama has to act like an adult and make a big boy decision.
His Chicago hack advisers aren’t going to be any help to him on this subject. And he can’t blame Bush because he appointed McChrystal. The easy way out would have been for McChrystal to resign but it looks like the General isn’t going to play along.
Interesting day indeed.
Hey...McChrystal is a white guy....no beer for you!!!
Obama "creates" scenes...Wonder if they'll roll in the White Foam Pillars...to make Obame look real, real good.
I wish it would, too, but I see the general really grovelling and apologizing for his “unfortunate use of words that certainly don’t indicate my heart,” blah, blah, blah. Just once, I’d like to see someone really intimidate B.O. and be honest with him, regardless of the consequences. How dare this lawless administration get all bent out of shape over this little anthill of a problem. Why suddenly start worrying NOW about the military not supporting B.O.? How could any of them support a leader who some feel is foisting treasonous acts on his own country by failing to protect it? Notice how this McChrystal stuff is forcing other things off the front page.
“Has he, not his staff, actually stated that?”
I’ve seen quotes of him saying he voted for Obama.
“Did someone witness him marking his ballot? “
Is that question a joke? He indicated he voted for BO. So he’s either a liar or a fool.
O is indeed a “petty narcissist” and a “nancy boy”. You nailed it.
Bambi has to surround himself with these folks because he’s clueless.
“Our allies in NATO are watching this very, very closely.”
So are our enemies.
That wouldn’t surprise me. Imagine he has his civilian corps at the ready to defend us here, not there.
It interferes with a couple of rounds of golf.
# Senior WH aides note one important aspect of McCrystal-RStone controversy: no disagreement on policy. POTUS is “invested” in strategy. about 15 hours ago via UberTwitter
# Senior admin aides: McCrystal has not offered his resignation but has informed superiors he is prepared to do so. about 16 hours ago via web
# Senior aide: There is a path for Gen. McCrystal to save his job; everything depends on how the meeting w/POTUS goes tomorrow morning. about 16 hours ago via web
# Senior admin source, no one Atlantic knows/has heard/seen etc. anything about a resignation offer from Gen. McCrystal. about 16 hours ago via web
The General will have it his way, as the Stone article clearly shows. There will be no grovelling. He will be amused.
McC knew he could play Obozo. And he did. Now let’s watch the show.
I agree...do we really know? The article just makes the claim that he did, but the claim wasn’t directly attributed to McChrystal, which I find interesting.
“The only thing attributable to McChrystal was his reflection of their first meeting where he stated that Obummer was ill prepared and seemed intimidated by the military brass.
The truth hurts.”
Amen. There is NO DOUBT that B.O. was like a fish out of water with that group. Not only does he hate the brass, but he has not even an elemental understanding of the military. He himself could never have made it through basic training, much less officer candidate school, etc. For a person who flaps his jaws for a living, it must have been awful to be in a roomful of men whose masculine actions earned them those stars and bars.

And, a photo op with MO.
BTW, WTF does he do until 11:35?
Or that source may have now been exposed.
That's how you'd discover who your leak is — spread
disinformation from the top and see how it leaks out to the Press.
This is a no-win situation for everyone involved- particularly our troops.
An American General answering to Kenyan Muslim, intentionaly grinding the American Military into dust.
Just fascinating, isn't it?
In a word, Historic.
This is like throwing a five gallon can of gas on the fire.
It should be entertaining to watch. Seeing anyone stand up to the messiah is encouraging IMO.
“would love to be a fly on the wall in that meeting “
How about a fly on the face of the Prez? You’ve seen that hilarious picture, right?
A cowardly thug girly-man pimp surrounded be warriors would be intimidated, wouldn’t it?
Seems to me CNN and other outlets loved having retired generals on to second-guess and criticize GWB. Wesley Clarke was on so much I thought he had his own show over at CNN. Now, sll of a sudden, a general is not supposed to criticize the CIC? Smells like a double-standard to me.
Yes I have seen it on Drudge. Pretty funny!! The fly was the one that got the disease in that encounter.
He is forbidden from joining the Military until we have a Natural Born Citizen commanding the Army. I will not allow my son to become cannon fodder for a Kenyan citizens entertainment between golf outings.
The current policy is a no-win situation.
Thats common behavior in Kenya.
My heart goes out to our courageous men and women in uniform. The Obomination exudes weakness and indecision to our enemies, inviting aggression.
Look at that face.
It just bleeds contempt for Americans and their country.
He really hates us.
