This morning the President accepted my resignation as Commander of U.S. and NATO Coalition Forces in Afghanistan.
I strongly support the President's strategy in Afghanistan and am deeply committed to our coalition forces, our partner nations, and the Afghan people. It was out of respect for this commitment — and a desire to see the mission succeed — that I tendered my resignation.

A far more dignified note than the circumstances of his dismissal deserved. Obama went out of his way to make McChrystal’s exit as belittling as possible.
This morning after I finished my weight lifting routine I went to the locker room to change clothes and was treated to the spectacle of a man nearly ninety who is getting frantic worrying about losing his retirement income and or his medical care. Two years ago he was proclaiming that the only reason anyone wouldn’t vote for Obama was racism! Now he has nothing positive to say for him and swears that he DID NOT vote for him! I am sorry to say that I indulged myself by saying, “I told you so”.
The most pathetic part was when he told us that he has a son who has spent almost thirty years in the military and his son says that he cannot see how the nation can survive if Obama is reelected.
Personally I don’t see how the nation can survive if he serves out his term, never mind reelection.

He displayed terrible judgement in even allowing a reporter to imbed (not inbed) with him.
Displayed even worse judgement with remarks to said reporter. Both actions decidedly against protocol, reflects poorly on him and all his officers.
Do you have any idea what positions he holds on ANYTHING?
If everybody who disagrees with O about anything is your idea of Presidential material, that's gonna be one hell of a primary.
I suggest you stay away from elections in the future....voting on emotions is what got us into trouble in the first place.

When I was in the Army stationed it Germany, some of the guys were telling the German waitresses that the reason American troops were there was to improve their gene pool so the Germans wouldn't lose next time.

Why? He has shown very poor judgment in letting his feelings about the CIC be known through a stupid, anti-war, anti military rag.
This entire episode is cowardly and the general looks petty and small. I say this as a person who served in the military, loves the military and despises the pretender we have for a president.
McChrystal has shown us what a lousy president he would be.

“Breaching operational security” doesn’t invalidate his reporting in any way. It might impact his ability to imbed in the future, but he’s still been there longer than anyone. I don’t think you can write off his insights based on pissing off one NCO at some point.

Are you smoking crack or something? I never mentioned Obama or even McChrystal, just that Michael Yon had a serious issue about violating OpSec orders as an embed and was removed because of it.
