Statement By Gen. Stanley McChrystal
WBZ/AP ^ | 6-23-10

Posted on 06/23/2010 11:22:51 AM PDT by STARWISE

*snip*

This morning the President accepted my resignation as Commander of U.S. and NATO Coalition Forces in Afghanistan.

I strongly support the President's strategy in Afghanistan and am deeply committed to our coalition forces, our partner nations, and the Afghan people. It was out of respect for this commitment — and a desire to see the mission succeed — that I tendered my resignation.

The General demonstrated low moral character, poor judgement, and complete stupidity.
He voted for the known Mooslime, Commie, Chicago thug, doper, who isn’t even a Natural Born Citizen. He doesn’t belong in the military.

It is nauseating that a man like McChrystal has to kowtow to an ignorant, anti-American thug like Obama.

Most just want to end the fighting and come home. It’s always sad to visit the schools here and most have a long hallway covered with parents deployed and very often the kids have to face another soldier killed. I’m with you and don’t supposrt Obama but I havent been fighting such a long war and the families are falling apart with so many deployments.

He may write a tell-all. But it will be after Afghanistan is over. He wouldn't want to do anything to jeopardize the troops.

BINGO

Look at the mans bio. AS much time in staff and ‘acedeminc’ positions as ‘real’ military postings.

I would vote for Storm’n Norman for Prez - but not this cat... or most General Officers, for that matter.

His first responsibility is to the troops under his command in the field. Those people calling for a full throated denunciation of the President by McC are not thinking clearly. That would be deeply unfair to the men he was commanding only yesterday. As a General he must put his responsibility first.

His resignation is curt and I think it communicates his true feelings, in an appropriatly veiled way. He supports “the President’s strategy in Afghanistan” but not the President, notably.

I think it’s just right. And as he moves further away from the conflict I’m sure we’ll hear more about his feelings on things.

I’m looking forward to read the article in Rolling Stone.

(Hey Rolling Stone is suddenly relevant again. The Taibi articles on Goldman and the financial crisis were among the best, now this news-making event. Weird. I’m pretty sure part of the turn around is Jann Wiener finally getting his hands off the controls.)

Honestly I don’t even think I could serve today’s military.
I could never salute BHO or follow any of his orders. I don’t want DADT being repealed and gheys making a spectacle in the military. I don’t like the political correctness of the military which allowed terrorists like like the Ft Hood shooter to fly under the radar.

He’s lucky that he wasn’t summarily executed, that’s what the Roman emperors and despots like Hitler, Stalin and Mao did in situations like this and I’m sure that Obama is beyond enraged over this and would kill him if it was legal.

Should have arrested Obama and marched him out of the White House at gunpoint.

Rahm wants a Crisis? McChrystal could have given him the Mother of all crises.

Now, McChrystal will have to go wash his mouth out with lye soap for all the lies.

But I guess it was “lie or lose your retirement benefits” and McChrystal didn’t consider it a fair choice.

I'm confused...can someone tell me what exactly it was that McChrystal said that was so damning? I read the entire Rolling Stone article and didn't see anything that would warrant resigning or being let go. The only thing I saw was something an aide said -

According to sources familiar with the meeting, McChrystal ...thought Obama looked "uncomfortable and intimidated" by the roomful of military brass. Their first one-on-one meeting took place in the Oval Office four months later, after McChrystal got the Afghanistan job, and it didn't go much better. "It was a 10-minute photo op," says an adviser to McChrystal. Obama clearly didn't know anything about him, who he was. Here's the guy who's going to run his fucking war, but he didn't seem very engaged. The Boss was pretty disappointed."

WTF?

I would think a military vocation would instill a strong sense of national security and defending this country which generally precludes voting for Democrats least of all a hard core leftist such as BHO.

One would think so. :(

You would be surprised how many officers are Democrats. It is the belief on Free Republic that everyone in the military is a Republican and that is not even remotely true. Although it does make people feel better saying such thing and really it does not hurt anything when FREEPERS claim this. Enlisted members are probably more Republican than Officers IMHO. Of course I will be blasted for this statement by some but I do have proof on my side from the MANY officers who have retired and state their true beliefs as a Democrat.

I got an email, (forwarded many times of course,) supposedly originated by a senior USMC NCO.

The NCO said that when he went into the corp it was against regs to be homosexual.

Then on his first day in office Clinton made it optional with his "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," policy.

The Gunnery Sgt said he was now getting out, before Obama makes it mandatory.

This morning after I finished my weight lifting routine I went to the locker room to change clothes and was treated to the spectacle of a man nearly ninety who is getting frantic worrying about losing his retirement income and or his medical care. Two years ago he was proclaiming that the only reason anyone wouldn’t vote for Obama was racism! Now he has nothing positive to say for him and swears that he DID NOT vote for him! I am sorry to say that I indulged myself by saying, “I told you so”.

The most pathetic part was when he told us that he has a son who has spent almost thirty years in the military and his son says that he cannot see how the nation can survive if Obama is reelected.

Personally I don’t see how the nation can survive if he serves out his term, never mind reelection.

"He would make a great President in 2012."

Lordy...where to begin?

He voted for O.

He displayed terrible judgement in even allowing a reporter to imbed (not inbed) with him.

Displayed even worse judgement with remarks to said reporter. Both actions decidedly against protocol, reflects poorly on him and all his officers.

Do you have any idea what positions he holds on ANYTHING?

If everybody who disagrees with O about anything is your idea of Presidential material, that's gonna be one hell of a primary.

I suggest you stay away from elections in the future....voting on emotions is what got us into trouble in the first place.

Maybe Afghan women should marry American men and produce some Afghans with higher testosterone levels.

When I was in the Army stationed it Germany, some of the guys were telling the German waitresses that the reason American troops were there was to improve their gene pool so the Germans wouldn't lose next time.

He would make a great President in 2012.

Why? He has shown very poor judgment in letting his feelings about the CIC be known through a stupid, anti-war, anti military rag.

This entire episode is cowardly and the general looks petty and small. I say this as a person who served in the military, loves the military and despises the pretender we have for a president.
McChrystal has shown us what a lousy president he would be.

“Breaching operational security” doesn’t invalidate his reporting in any way. It might impact his ability to imbed in the future, but he’s still been there longer than anyone. I don’t think you can write off his insights based on pissing off one NCO at some point.
