Israeli Air Force aircraft dropped off large quantities of military gear at a Saudi Arabian military base last week in preparation for a potential attack on Iran, a number of Iranian and Israeli news outlets have reported.
The unconfirmed report, first published by the semi-official Iranian news agency Fars and the Islamic website Islam Times, claimed that on June 18 and 19, Israeli helicopters unloaded military equipment and built a base just over five miles outside the northwestern city of Tabuk, the closest Saudi city to Israel. All civilian flights into and out of the city were said to have been cancelled during the Israeli drop-off, and passengers were reportedly compensated by the Saudi authorities and accommodated in nearby hotels.
The claim follows a report two weeks ago in the London Times Magazine that Saudi Arabia had given Israel permission to fly through a narrow corridor of airspace in northern Saudi Arabia so as to shorten the flight time required for Israeli jets to reach Iran. The Times claimed that Saudi Arabia had adjusted its missile defense systems to ensure that Israeli jets are not shot down while passing through Saudi airspace on the way to an aerial attack on Irans nuclear facilities.
Citing an anonymous American defense official, the report claimed that Meir Dagan, the head of Israels Mossad intelligence agency, had been in contact with Saudi officials and briefed Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on the plans.
Saudi Arabia has adamantly denied it will allow Israel to use its airspace to attack Iran. Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf told the London-based Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat that it would be illogical to allow the Israeli occupying force, with whom Saudi Arabia has no relations whatsoever, to use its land and airspace.

A Debka dream...
The people of Iran best be heading for the hills. Time is coming to a close.
My wet dream is that the US, Israel, and Russia attack Iran simultaneously. Maybe throw in the Saudis for a two-fer. Will never happen though.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
I think the article says it all. Once Israel attacks Iran, Obama will abandon Israel, and all the nations of the world will be against them. This marks the beginning of sorrows, World War, as nations exchange nuclear weapons over this issue
Debka has been very accurate and gives us a peek inside the IDF
Tabuk doesn’t see like the right place for a secret base. Its so far from the Red sea. But it is a straight flight from there to the sea and across to Iran.
I believe the Saudis will let the IAF overfly them to attack Iran. But no way are they going to allow Israeli forces on the soil of the Kingdom.
Obviously there is much fear in the Arab world, and a clear understanding in Saudi Arabia as well as in Israel that a nuclear Iran is a great threat, Dr. Ephraim Inbar, director of Israels Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies told The Media Line.
This brings us together on a strategic level in that we have common interests. Since the Arab world and Saudi Arabia understand that President Obama is a weak person, maybe they decided to facilitate this happening.
That said, I dont think the Saudis want to burden themselves with this type of cooperation with Israel, he said. They are afraid of Iran and if the Israeli action is not successful they would be vulnerable to Iranian retaliation.
Its interesting that the news first came from Iran, Dr. Inbar added. Maybe its a warning [from Iran] to Saudi that we know what you are doing and we are not happy about it. Its also possible that Saudi Arabia let the news out as a warning to America that if you dont do something, we will.
Dr. Eldad Pardo, an expert on Iran at the Hebrew University in Jerusalems Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace, argued that there was growing support in the Arab world for an Israeli attack on Iran.”
Israel is strong, 0 is weak, America will be abandoned, not Israel.
Forget Russia—they are in bed with Iran and $$ is made from them with nuke technology and also weapons/defense.
I do not even beleive this crap. The Saudis told the US to leave the country becqause of local resentment of US troops on Saudi soil. Do you really believe the Saudi Royals would risk a revolution by allowing the Jews to use a base there?
I do not think they will allow a base, but maybe weapons.
I think *something* is brewing in the mideast (now there’s a safe statement - as I suppose something is always brewing in the mideast). I even wonder if the whole l’affaire McChrystal will one day be seen in that light.
I agree with you
No one needs spies any more the Media takes care of all their intelligence work for them.
You are thinking too short term. If Iran gets whacked, and they close the straits of hormuz, the only real supplier of oil for Europe will be Russia.
Russia becomes the new Saudi Arabia....
An excellent example of privatisation and outsourcing.
“it would be illogical...”
As if logic is ruling the day during these times?
Screw the saudis and their duplicitous, treacherous, fugly Wahhabi asses.
Is there no such thing as TOP SECRET anymore? pathetic.
Sounds like they (the Saudis) already did.
It’s countdown time for the Tehran Shi’ite dictatorship. The Saudi Wahhabist tyrants should be next on the list.

Jerusalem Post is running with it.
If Israel does take military action in Iran, I hope that afterward, instead of that country’s usual defensive media efforts, it simply takes out full-page ads in the top 20 newspaper’s of the world, with only 2 items:
1) An over-sized IDF logo.
2) The words: You’re Welcome.
