Isn't it illegal to shoot coyotes in CO?
My sister lived and hiked all over Lookout Mt. in Golden and they had stray coyotes but were forbidden to shoot them.
Now she lives in Highlands Ranch with reports of coyote packs.
Insane law. I'd shoot w/o hesitation.
They hear and smell "you" long before you get close to them..
They stay away from people.. unless starving or rabid..
The Little 6 year old did not have one.
Of course not,, but I bet some adult did see it before the attack. "Look at the cute, little coyote"... spit!
Good hunting to you. I used to never be able to get one...
and I do believe they would attack a child.
Was sittin’ in the Junipers watchin’ for deer when a pack of coyotes started a hunt. Making some weird yips and other noises talking to each other. Something I’ll never forget.
Saw my father shoot a coyote in the head at about 250 yards (.270 Winchester). When we saw him he was standing still. Dad pulled a bead. I said you gonna shoot? He said not till he starts runnin’...BANG...
LOL!
I read a pretty good book once called “Lost in my own back yard: A walk through Yellowstone”.
In it, the guy talked about walking some trail, and on the left side of the trail going up perhaps 100 feet at a 70 degree incline was a grassy area with the edge of a forest at the top.
As he approached, he saw a large pack of coyotes come flying out of the forest, and they ran down this hill, tumbling, stumbling, rolling and falling. As he looked up, he saw a very large gray wolf walk over to the edge and look down at the fleeing coyotes.
Apparently, when the wolves were gone for all that time, the coyote population exploded and they became larger and more agressive.
When the wolves were reintroduced, the completely cleaned the clocks of the coyotes. The biggest ones who tried to stand and fight (because it was what they were used to doing, being the “top dogs” of Yellowstone) had no chance against the wolves who were far bigger, more muscular, smarter, more aggressive, and were wiped out leaving a lot of weaker coyotes that ran off and avoided them.
I think we should jump right to the APEX predator>>>> Grizzly Bear.
Lets release about 50 Grizzlies in Central Park and see the Animal Rights nutballs complain about it. ;-)
“In some instances, humans have large dogs with them as protection. You know, like a pit bull. Pit bulls can save lives.”
Shouldn’t that be “...humans have large dogs with them as protection. You know, like Irish Wolfhounds.”
;-)
“Lets release about 50 Grizzlies in Central Park and see the Animal Rights nutballs complain about it.”
If that happens,a poster shop will surely have a slight addition to the “Don’t Feed Our Bums” poster.
It would then say “Don’t Feed Bums To Our Bears”.
I forgot the last line. Post 71 should have been:
“Lets release about 50 Grizzlies in Central Park and see the Animal Rights nutballs complain about it.
If that happens,a poster shop will surely have a slight addition to the Dont Feed Our Bums poster.
It would then say “Dont Feed Bums To Our Bears - Feed ‘em A Liberal.”
Sorry for the error.
You can hunt Coyotes year round, state wide with a small game license for $21.00 per year. Coyotes are managed as furbearers in Colorado. I think shooting around housing and within city limits would be your only problem.
I’ve heard of them sending a runner to make contact with hikers and their dog. The dog pursues the runner over a ridge line and is jumped by the pack. Always keep the dog on a leash.

Wolves didnt get appointed to the top of the food chain by Barry Half-White.. they earned it..
LOL...
“It doesnt make practical sense that two rabid animals decided to gang up and attack the girl.”
Deut 32:
19 The LORD saw this and rejected them
because he was angered by his sons and daughters.
20 “I will hide my face from them,” he said,
“and see what their end will be;
for they are a perverse generation,
children who are unfaithful.
21 They made me jealous by what is no god
and angered me with their worthless idols.
I will make them envious by those who are not a people;
I will make them angry by a nation that has no understanding.
22 For a fire has been kindled by my wrath,
one that burns to the realm of death [e] below.
It will devour the earth and its harvests
and set afire the foundations of the mountains.
23 “I will heap calamities upon them
and spend my arrows against them.
24 I will send wasting famine against them,
consuming pestilence and deadly plague;
I will send against them the fangs of wild beasts,
the venom of vipers that glide in the dust.
Does it make sense now?
“...wolves dont attack people...”
Oh yes they do!

It’s been reported that many wolf tracks were around the body of Candice Berner. At least 2 wolves and as many as 4. Bob Berner, father of Candice, said the troopers told him that there appeared to be a struggle that lasted approx. 150 ft. before Berner went down. There were also signs that she was still alive as the wolf pack dragged her along. The wolves went for her throat, as many predators do, she did not die instantly.
