This is a pretty amazing read - wonder how much similar stuff goes on here with our government workers

My sister worked -for a while- at the State Department of Revenue.

A state representative requested the head of the department to hire one of her “proteges”.

This woman arrived promptly at 9:00 AM, walked into a supplies closet and closed the door - only to reappear at 4:30PM.

Inspection revealed that she had a portable TV, a cooler and a cot with pillow in the closet.

When sis pointed this out - repeatedly - to the department head, SHE was asked to leave....and did.

Over time, any government agency will become populated with many (not all, of course) drones. The more ambitious leave for better jobs, the lay-abouts gain seniority and can’t be fired. Moreover, in our state, it is considered a perk of office to get a state job (35% greater pay than comparable private work and l72% better retirement and medical benefits) for your unsuccessful brother in law.

Even some of our better politicians are fighting a proposal to declare the state employment records “open”. I guess they have some “hires” they need to protect as well.

It has been noted that California’s decline began in 1978 when Jerry Brown, as Governor, allowed state workers to be represented by Unions. Barring evidence to the contrary, I would agree.

Take back our Government - we pay for and deserve better!
