The numbers from this poll, are a good commentary on the cultural divide in this country. Check the numbers for democrats.

As long as there is a “progressive” income tax I
would have to fall in the 34 percent who disagree.

I blame teachers and the entertainment industry.

Seriously, how many were told in high school that Orwell’s “1984” was about the future if “right-wing Republicans” took over?

It was about Stalin’s dystopian society.

What were the poll results with the Spanish version of the question?

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

No problem. Let’s make these fools our slaves... they have been preconditioned for the roll. ;>)

I’ve always believed this, but as a white male, I’m wondering when I’m going to join the third that don’t believe it. Especially with all the blind eyes being turned by DOJ on criminal behavior and government’s refusal to treat the invasion from Mexico as a war.

I wish it were a nation of liberty and justice for all. I also wish it were the land of the free and home of the brave, too.

But it just isn't.

There are too many examples were state power trumps individual freedom. Some social conservatives won't grant other Americans certain social freedoms. And with the income tax, most working people are share-croppers at best. They've got the yolk of taxes around their necks.

I don't see it changing. There are too many people that would go hungry if their assistance, subsidies, and state support dried up. You think they'll ever grant the people they're using freedom? Doubtful.

When I was young police where peace officers, there were no SWAT Teams, no no-knock searches, no seatbelt laws, no wiretapping without a warrant, you went to the high school to get your Rifle merit badges, and the Federal Government could not outlaw online gambling or anonymous cell phones.

Both political parties and the courts are hell bent on destroying all freedom in this country. They know how to divide and conquer us and destroy our freedoms. May they all rot in hell.

"54% (Americans) believe that the U.S. is indeed the nation with liberty and justice for all. A third (34%) (illegals and others who complain their handout is not big enough) disagree while 11% (products of government schooling who should not have passed) are not sure.

I don’t see that it breaks down that way, I am as conservative as anybody and I am certainly not complaining that my handout is not big enough but I DON’T believe that this is any longer the land of liberty and justice for all. I don’t see how anyone can believe that any longer. How can there be liberty and justice for all when the federal government decides what laws to enforce and what laws to ignore? How can there be liberty and justice for all when a clown like Franken gains a senate seat by fraud? How can there be liberty and justice for all when we have a president who is NOT a natural born citizen and may not even be a citizen period? How can there be liberty and justice for all when illegals pour over the border in hordes and nothing is done to stop them? How can there be liberty and justice for all when people who belong to the favored political group can stand outside voting booths to intimidate voters and the attorney general of the United States refuses to do anything about it? Explain that again please.

Patriotism is fine but pretending that this country is still what it used to be even five years ago is pure foolishness. No person who has even one eye open can believe that America still offers liberty and justice for all. This administration is openly mocking those who still believe in constitutional government. Liberty and justice for Rahm and friends maybe.

I have property in the Philippines ,, yes it’s poor and the gov’t is corrupt but when I return to the US I have an overwhelming feeling of being crushed by the weight of our government. I guarantee that most people here unintentionally commit felonies on a daily basis (something as simple as disposing of a can of bug spray “improperly”) that if enforced would have them destitute or jailed for years or even decades, you wouldn’t have felt that way years ago... for that reason and as a prior comment pointed out the “progressive” income tax ,,,, we do not have justice for all. I would be a “no” answer.

We were founded on those principals but I can’t say that we embody them anymore.
