GOP leaders let demagogues set tone, lawmaker says [Barf Alert]

WASHINGTON -- Too many Republican leaders are acquiescing to a poisonous "demagoguery" that threatens the party's long-term credibility, says a veteran GOP House member who was defeated in South Carolina's primary last month.

While not naming names, 12-year incumbent Rep. Bob Inglis suggested in interviews with The Associated Press that tea party favorites such as former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and right-wing talk show hosts like Glenn Beck are the culprits.

He cited a claim made famous by Palin that the Democratic health care bill would create "death panels" to decide whether elderly or sick people should get care.

"There were no death panels in the bill ... and to encourage that kind of fear is just the lowest form of political leadership. It's not leadership. It's demagoguery," said Inglis, one of three Republican incumbents who have lost their seats in Congress to primary and state party convention challengers this year.

I hadn't followed the SC governor's primary too closely, but now I am really glad this RINO lost!

71-29 is a bad beating Bob, a complete annihilation. Best to shut up and leave South Carolina forever.

By the way, thanks for pandering to the false racism claim. You are more arrogant and ignorant than I thought and the Marxists now love you more than ever.

Bob Inglis was the worst kind of RINO. Good riddance and cudos to the people of South Carolina for taking the garbage out in the primary election. Now if they could just muzzle Lindsey Grammnesty, we could start changing the political dynamic.

Even worse than being a RINO, Inglis reveals an incredible stupidity in his comments. He has absolutely no understanding of the Left’s playbook: pick the most threatening (read: effective) conservatives, then distort their views to demonize and marginalize them. Then find some Republican useful idiot to agree that they are “extreme” or “demagogues.” Inglis is the latest in a long line of useful idiots.

The whiney ramblings of a RINO loser is great news.

I hadn't followed the SC governor's primary too closely, but now I am really glad this RINO lost!

This wasn't for Governor, this was US House, SC District 4.

Inglis had 4 primary challengers. The only squeaker question was whether Inglis would even be in the runoff.

¡No hablamos Inglis!

I live in his district. Kept sending him emails letting him know that he shouldn’t let his kids opinions define his voting. He bought into the Global Warming crap and many other ideas. He ran for Congress in 94 on Term Limits. That pretty much sums it up. He is just a dumb ass.

This article is

RINO manure.

The Tea Party and "demagogues" are the only things that are giving the Republicans a chance.

I never heard of this guy, and now I’m glad to hear that there’s no need to remember his name.

You lost, buddy.

Press accounts are not clear how he voted on the Obamacare fiasco. Did he vote for it? Does the shoe fit?
