Skip to comments.LIVE THREAD! - Arizona senate GOP candidates Face-Off in debate - WATCH ONLINE
Posted on 07/16/2010 5:35:36 PM PDT by onyx
Tonight, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) will debate his primary challengers, former Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ) and conservative "tea party" activist Jim Deakin in one of only two Republican primary debates.
During the one hour debate, Hayworth will likely concentrate on McCain's 28 years in Congress with a focus on his position on immigration. Deakin said he will compare and contrast his approach in representing constituents to the "other two entrenched politicians." A McCain campaign spokesman said that the Senator "looks forward to a spirited discussion on the issues facing Arizonans."
The LIVE debate will take place tonight at KTVK-TV in Phoenix, Arizona.
I’m watching the video replay right now... so McCain had the nerve to say he didn’t support amnesty????? Is there a person who draws a breath in AZ who isn’t aware that is an outright lie?
I don’t know the dates yet.
That was great, wasn’t it? Too bad we don’t have the numbers in a verifyable manner to use too. I’ve heard he spent $12,500,000 fighting JD so far.
Thanks! I’ll pass on looking at the pics from the 80’s, though...
Carolyn, people need to realize how easy it was for him to look us in the eye and lie.
I'm a good enough listener to know that you are clueless. Say what you want, I'll not be responding to you again.
WOW that is serious money. The only plus is he’s kept some folks with a job as he retires.
JD *had* to attack tonight, but IMO, he did it with the skill of a neurosurgeon.
Some can say he had an easy target, but that’s not completely true when the target is the incumbent who just ran for president and is considered a “ war hero, native son” by too many natives and non-natives of Arizona.
JD did a superb job.
Thanks for reminding us to pray marmar.
someone w/ skills needs to send this thread to JD so he can read the responses.....
Hiya eyedigress and thank you!
I think so too onyx. I was worried that he might come off “mean” but instead he came off kind and respectful. He did a great job.
You call you snide remark a response? And why are you here pursuing offhanded remarks on this thread. That is not the subject tonight.
And, yes, please, don't 'respond' to me again.
Oh I’m sure someone will send him a link. That’s all that is needed.
We are in agreement!
Plus, Mc came off badly. He talked down to JD and that went over like a lead balloon.
He never looks anyobe in the eye. Past you, through you, around you, but never at you. He lies and it shows. His tongue is always darting in and out like the snake that he is. I always thought he was a snake ever sunce the first time I ever saw him.
I only heard one candidate mention Enumerated Powers. I only heard one candidate mention the Constitution. Two of the candidates have already been there and look where we are. I’m not from AZ, but I know who I would vote for.
Flame suit is on.
finger fubar. scuse please.
Amen to that marmar!
Same here. I heard the same story at the time. McShame as a former POW dropped all those people in the sh!t because he didn’t want his shame of having been broken under torture to go public because he was going to be president one day. It was pretty obvious at the time that he cut a deal with his old enemies. He’s worse than his helper in that dirty deal, Mr. Rice Butt the Swiftboater Kerry, and that’s saying something.
How about the way he dumped his loyal wife when he came back? Another demonstration of his total lack of character and decency. I just can’t believe that the people of Arizona would be clueless enough to retain this guy as their senator. I’d rather close my eyes, open the phone book and put my finger on a name and send that person to Washington. I’m serious.
OK, later “my friend” (nooooooooooooooooo)!
Swimming is the best, I need to get some water weights or something too.
Your post is so irrelevant to the dynamics of the debate and to the critical AZ political battle that no one will even bother to pay any attention to what you wrote.
Rather than an *attack* by JD, I look at it as *setting the record straight*.
Juan has gotten away with too much and FINALLY someone has called him out.
Hopefully, McCain has tooted his own horn for the last time.
I’m off to bed, night everyone, great thread.
Your right. Enumerated Powers and the Constitution are irrelevant. Its all about who can win, not who is Pro America.
I have a different explination, it's a bribe.
A few weeks ago I spent an hour in a meeting sitting across the table from McCain, and listened to him lie. We all knew he was lying, he knew we knew, he just kept lying, it didn't bother him in the least.
That is where I determined to quit watching. I simply could not bear to watch him, or listen to his lies.
Please citizens of AZ, vote out this lying creep. He's rich, he will be fine. Arizona and America will be better for it. Lose him!
Dare I say “it” to ya’ll on this thread?
“GOOD NIGHT my FRiends” ....lol....
Tou’re right! Setting the record straight!
It looks to me that McCain lost his temper too much tonight, had that maddening smirk so many people hated in the Obama debates and actually cost him votes, Deakin’s struck me as a mcCain shill... I am thinking McCain is thanking God Deakin stayed in the race....... JD had his act together and I loved it when he brought up that McCain just changed the name of amnesty to try to make it sound like something other than what it really is....
wow, scottsdale fashion square. could have been mcgavin999 square mall. if we only could go back, knowing what we know now.
Sorry to say that I am learning more everyday that most voters do not have a clue.
We have a month to educate as many as possible.
Oh my gosh, he actually said he would “lead”... this is the man who didn’t have the nerve to vote no on TARP!!!!!!!
“McCain just changed the name of amnesty”
That was so great!
I think my new favorite word is “shape-shifter”! That’s perfect for out here anyway since it’s an Indian term.
I want to look back through the thread to read about Deakin because someone told me the scuttlebutt says he’s a Paultard - a vote splitter for sure - get the hell out - he’s hurting JD.
I agree that Mc got mad a lot tonight and I think it showed. I hope this debate gets a large viewership with the voters.
Loved it when JD said something to the effect of
“If you had attacked Obama as much as you’re attacking me, you might be President right now.”
With McCain, “tooting one’s own horn” means passing gas, and I bet that McCain would win such a contest.
LOL. That;s right and didn’t JD accuse him of HUCKSTERISM?
I know I have to record an airing of the debate! CSPAN will play it several times.
He's still playing to a national audience. I don't think that will be helpful here where we know him.
That’s unfortunate you didn’t hear JD’s Pro-American responses. He didn’t have to read the Constitution tonight for me to know his responses were for the American citizen, our national security and financial well being.
Unfortunately Deakin had two opponents to go after and he needed to appeal to the tea party base. His job was huge. I’ll give him points for going the distance.
If he choked up at the end, he lost me with his quick recovery or maybe it was just a hiccup.
OH YEAH, I think so!!!! lol!
I loved how JD just kept hammering and hammering, and McC kept turning away in rage/disgust.
No matter what else, JD HAS been against amnesty all along. I remember that from way back, I think the early 90s when I first started hearing his name. Things happen and other issues change and stuff, but in my book, he’s been consistent on that.
And McC has consistently been for open borders and for the destruction of our sovereignty. Teddy K’s best friend.
The MSM is horrified and I doubt we’ll see anywhere in ink that JD smacked him.
I’m starting to feel hope again.
I can't stand when these lying maggots, in this case McCommie, pretend to sympathize with the little people and how we want jobs. Give me a flippin' break.
I hope some folks noticed that JD quietly but forcefully controlled the debate tonight.
