Immigrant Deaths in Arizona Desert Soaring in July
foxnews ^ | Today

PHOENIX -- The number of deaths among illegal immigrants crossing the Arizona desert from Mexico is soaring so high this month that the medical examiner's office that handles the bodies is using a refrigerated truck to store some of them, the chief examiner said Friday.

The bodies of 40 illegal immigrants have been brought to the office of Pima County Medical Examiner Dr. Bruce Parks since July 1. At that rate, Parks said the deaths could top the single-month record of 68 in July 2005 since his office began tracking them in 2000.

"Right now, at the halfway point of the month, to have so many is just a very bad sign," he said. "It's definitely on course to perhaps be the deadliest month of all time."

From Jan. 1 to July 15, the office has handled the bodies of 134 illegal immigrants, up from 93 at the same time last year and 102 in 2008. In 2007, when the office recorded the highest annual deaths of illegal immigrants, 140 bodies had been taken there through July 15.

Parks said his office, which handles immigrant bodies from three counties, is currently storing roughly 250 bodies and had to start using a refrigerated truck because of the increase in immigrant deaths this month.

You sneak into my “house”, uninvited and illegally, and fall on the stairs and die...tough $hi+.

So, what the hell do they want? We should build them a string of free emergency rooms every two miles along the dessert path?

I agree with FrankR in comment number 21. If they keep coming, tough shit. Let them feed the worms. I have no problem with illegals dying doing something illegal.
I betcha I'm gonna catch a lotta grief with this comment. Bring it on.

I believe you will find Bush, McCain and Guilliani were all heavily financed by the construction industry leg of the housing bubble pyramid. Mitt was financed by bankers.

During the 2008 primaries, this socialist ponzi scheme owned the top three Republican contenders, leaving those of us who oppose open borders without a major party candidate.
Given the consequences when (not if) a nuclear device comes in through the open border - that was unnaceptable.

I voted Keyes.

Dunno why you would...what I don’t understand is why the geniuses in Congress that are trying (so they say) to defend border defense don’t use this to point out how inhumane the socialists are for encouraging people to die, trying to reach the promised land to take advantage of their amnesty plans, instead of closing the border until it is sorted out? I don’t think I hear that messsage. It points out what reckless f*ckers the Dims are and makes the case for border control.

This time, it really is Bush's fault!

Oh, BULLSHI'ITE!!!

Although even Reagan had an amnesty on his watch, back in '86.

EVEN Reagan??? Reagan gave the only blanket amnesty ever granted in the history of our nation.

For over 200 years, the United states only granted amnesty in individual cases and had never given amnesty to large numbers of illegal aliens. Because of chain migration, those granted amnesty have brought in an additional 142,000 dependents - relatives brought in to the United States to join their family members.

The amnesty of 1986 was supposed to be a "one time only" amnesty. Yet since 1986, Congress passed a total of 7 amnesties for illegal aliens:

1. The Immigration and Reform Control Act (IRCA) Amnesty of 1986 - the "one-time only" blanket amnesty for some 2.8 million illegal aliens.

2. Section 245(i) The Amnesty of 1994 - a temporary rolling amnesty for 578,000 illegal aliens.

3. Section 245(i) The Extension Amnesty of 1997 - an extension of the rolling amnesty created in 1994.

4. The Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) Amnesty of 1997 - an amnesty for nearly one million illegal aliens from Central America.

5. The Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act Amnesty (HRIFA) of 1998 - an amnesty for 125,000 illegal aliens from Haiti.

6. The Late Amnesty of 2000 - an amnesty for approximately 400,000 illegal aliens who claimed they should have been amnestied under the 1986 IRCA amnesty.

7. The LIFE Act Amnesty of 2000 - a reinstatement of the rolling Section 245(i) amnesty to an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens.

After the 1986 amnesty, illegal immigration increased significantly. Census Bureau 2000 data indicate that 700,000 to 800,000 illegal aliens settle in the U.S. each year.

Reagan's amnesty threw the flood gates of our border wide open. Additional amnesties granted 6 times during the K'Toon years encouraged even more to rush the border.

Yet somehow President George W. Bush is charged with the sole responsibility for our illegal immigration problem and our wide open borders. Disgusting.

They also need a DMZ a 1/2 mile wide. Void of all vegetation with our military standing guard until the Mexicans finally get the idea that they may die if they cross the border.

Of course our coward of a President won’t do that. I’ve never seen a President of our country that is such a coward.

Why is nobody asking why Mexico is such a hellhole that people are willing to risk their lives to escape it.

I was being partially tongue-in-cheek. Bush can’t take the entire blame for the mess we’re in, but he didn’t do much to clean it up.

We should also skip the body pickup because:

1. It costs money

2. It takes resources better expended elsewhere

3. It provides a warning to those following behind

Hey, illegal aliens, stay in your own lousy country and try to change it. Really, stop polluting our deserts and our society, illegals. If you want to immi9grate here, go through the legal process and we welcome you.

You don’t want to die in a desert? Then DON’T! It’s your decision to risk it, you suffer the consequences. Stay in Mexico and live your life.

134 bodies from 3 counties in six months....wonder what the total is for the whole border.

ANOTHER, humanitarian reason for controlling the border,

Sorry, I did not see your tongue firmly planted in your cheek.

However, you did say;
What we need is another Eisenhower-era "Operation Wetback."

I agree! The fact is, President Bush did more to secure the borders and reform our immigration system than under any president since Ike. It should also be recognized that our borders have always been open and illegal immigration has been a problem that has not been adequately addressed since President Eisenhower's Operation Wetback.

Guess what? I really don’t care.

If they were not invading, they would not have died.

How dumb do you have to be to even attempt to cross the desert when the temps are in excess of 110 degrees? I would venture a guess that there are points in the desert where the temps are over 120. It’s so hot that it doesn’t even cool down at night. There is no shade, there is no water, the ground radiates heat like an oven. Good grief people THINK!
