Posted on 07/26/2010 1:11:24 PM PDT by Hawk720
Colorado Republican Senate candidate Ken Buck has once again talked himself into some trouble - this time by calling certain tea-party activists "dumbasses" for questioning the legitimacy of President Obama's birth certificate.
According to the Denver Post, Buck was caught on tape saying in June, "Will you tell those dumbasses at the Tea Party to stop asking questions about birth certificates while I'm on camera." He added, laughing: "God, what am I supposed to do?"
Buck was speaking to a Democratic operative who had secretly recorded the conversation.
Buck, who enjoys strong support from the Tea Party movement, has since somewhat walked back the remarks, though he focused on language, not content.
"I'm not suggesting the language was appropriate," Buck told the Post today. "But after 16 months of being on the campaign trail, I was tired and frustrated that I can't get that message through that we are going to go off a cliff if we don't start dealing with this debt."

Cool. It saved me $100.
And he's absolutely right.
I hope his campain goes down in flames. What has Colorado to lose?
If a Repug can not or will not focus on fundamental issues like Certifigate, then he is useless.
Ken Buck, apparently a dumb-ass, has never looked into it. Relying on hyperbole.
So what don’t they just show me the bc so I can be a smartass?
Who’s the real dumbass, Ken?
So. You think TEA Partiers are dumbasses, huh?
Go back to DU, troll.
Does Michelle know he called her that?
Anyone who trusts the MSM for all their information has no business in a legislature.
Sounds like another Obama Enabler...
Dumbasses are ones who refuse to do anything about a possible usurption of the Constitution by the Commander in Chief...he may not be holding the office legally
I do not understand the attacks on Birthers by GOPers....pandering to the Obama crowd is not going to win elections this time around
I’ve seen some pretty dumb stuff on the Orly threads. Coming from people who might be pretty dumb. Some of them might be Tea Partiers, but I don’t see a relation between the two. Some people are just dumb.
There’s also another thread about this at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2558957/posts
That troll has been around since 1998.
Having a different opinion on what is effective does not make one a troll.
Trust me, I know.
Where do we find such crummy candidates? ............any Ivy League School..........
From his website:
He earned his undergraduate degree from Princeton University
in 1981 and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Wyoming School of
Law in 1985.
The Colorado Republican party approaches the Obamaloon White House in its complete inability to turn on a light bulb.
Ken Buck is one idiot that’s up for gov, the other is a now well known plagiarist (name does not matter - he’s another typical useless public servant).
We’re so screwed.
That fool is going to have a long climb, even in what should have been a relatively easy year.
Apparently you are unable to understand sentences that contain dependent clauses. That's all right. You are not alone.
Go back to DU, troll.
Very original comment, newbie.
Let's face facts: people want solutions to this country's problems that Congress can vote on and implement.
They are not interested in a legal battle that will be held up in the federal court system by Democrat judges until after January 20, 2017.
Anyone who thinks that litigation in the federal courts is the answer is, indeed, a dumbass.
Before I even went to his website I just knew he went to an Ivy League School............and I was right.............
Aren’t the real dumb-asses those that will not demand proof of natural born citizenship?
I mean, they did it with McCain, didn’t they?
Agree. This is an issue that will be a complete loser for conservatives who choose to run with it. Let the National Enquirer or someone else come up with any proof to these allegations, if there is any. People believe them more than politicians anyways! Any conservative running for office should focus on the much larger problems at hand.
Years ago a master electrician asked me a question. How much effort should be put into getting a job done? I answered: enough to get the job done adequately. Not enough effort and, obviously, the job is incomplete; too much effort wastes resources.
There is no doubt in my mind that there is some sort of problem w/ Obama's BC. But the people who have taken the time to understand the intricacies of this issue should also be smart enough to understand that it is a waste of time and effort for him to get involved with this issue. And - go figure - that appears to be what he is pointing out.
Is this the same type who is tired and frustrated in the fact as with many pop-culture politicians;
Reading legislation/bills takes too much effort; Knowing the details of legislation only happens after it becomes law; Does not wish to be bothered with responsibility by assigning power to agencies as avoidance of accountability; To take time to determine the legitimacy of a constitutional position; That illegal aliens are illegal and impact the social and economic structure of America negatively ..uhm
I would say this clown is another dumbass RINO; just on his own statements alone.
“FREE THE LONG FORM!”
You’re a coward.
I agree with him if he is referring to making that issue a central issue. I do not however believe that questioning the crendentials of Obama is inappropriate. McCain’s birth was questioned, Trig’s birth mother was questioned, what makes Obama special? The 9-11 truthers who still think Bush let 9-11 happen are real dumb asses but the media never saw fit to highlight that very divisive angry “truther” movement. Buck made a mistake in only elevating birtherism to something that will drive us off a cliff which it clearly will not no more than 9-11 trutherism drove Barrack Obama and his crew of merry “men” off a cliff. The Democrats kissed Michael Moore’s ass and never paid for it.
Republicans and conservatives need to stop thinking they can be “heroes” for finding a “fringe” element to bash. It doesn’t get you points in the leftist media hell but talking about it does give them yet another media cycle to bash not only you but to use your statement to trash the whole tea party.
I still think Buck is the best person in this race but I can’t figure out what he thought he was gaining with this.
Barack Obama does have a shady back ground, he still hasn’t been forth coming with a whole slew of medical, education, and other documents.
If he is already doing it at a time as sensitive as a campaign, he won't flinch a bit after the election. Defeat him now before he joins the enemy camp and draws a paycheck from your wallet.
You may be getting confused with Repubs McInnis or Maes who are running for Gov in the primary, and
Buck is in a battling against Jane Norton for the Republican Senate nomination.
Obama's in office, he's not going to be impeached, so folks should stop dreaming about it. Instead, they should concentrate their efforts on making their States' Secretaries-of-State to tighten the eligibility requirements for appearing on a ballot. If Obama is not a citizen, then it should catch him the second time.
Yep, you nailed it.
The people who want him to chase this issue are also dumb a$$es. He needs to focus on getting into office, not satisfying their inner Orly.
This from the very person using language straight from the DU lexicon. Who exactly is the DU troll?
Yet some on this thread want to play into their hands - even by unthinkingly parroting the MSM spin: that his comments are a blanket condemnation of the Tea Party movement rather than a condemnation of the small minority of the Tea Party movement who actually believe that a fight over Obama's credentials is a winning fight.
Says the bold anonymous Internet poster.
I'm savoring the irony.
Then let me ask one. Do you agree that TEA Partiers are dumbasses? And that Certifigate is a settled issue just like Bob Gibbs has said all along?
....Who exactly is the DU troll?....
You ask a good question. So why don’t you answer it?
You score a point as this article is from cBS, but you're stirring the pot.
You are looking more like the troll than wideawake. Go back to DU and bash “repugs” to your hearts content.
Even the article lead-in says that he condemned "certain" members of the Tea Party movement, not the movement as a whole - and he did so in a private conversation to boot.
Ken Buck is up for senator (running against Jane Norton)
McInnis (plagarizer guy) is running against Dan Maes (financial reporting problem guy) for the GOP governer spot
That answer reminds me of the UAW member who bragged that he could hang a dash board with 3 screws...even though the design called for 9 screws. Barely enough to do the job. Just enough not to get caught for a long time. And he saved resources, 6 screws, on every dashboard.
I worked on 180 tuna seiners. My job was to repair all the electronics on board. A half-ass job on anything could end the fishing trip at a cost of $30,000 per day. The objective was to do everything 100% so that it could endure a rigorous 6 month fishing trip without a failure. There wasn't such a thing as "adequate" if that level of quality resulted in a scrubbed trip. If the boat had to come back, you could be assured that you wouldn't be getting the repair business when they pulled into port.
I guess the answer is clear.
Tatze belives Obama DID provide unimpeachable proof of his birth certificate, and ..
Tatze believes TEA Partiers are dumbasses.
lol can we vote him out of office.
The bigger issue on the whole BC thing is this; if the people who expect Obama to substantiate his claim with something tangible are dismissed and called Dumb-asses, then he doesn’t really need to support ANY claim with anything.
People should be outraged at all the documents that have been concealed and off-limits.
The fact that he can conceal the truth and that 90% of Americans are OK with that is scary.
Yeah. it's all the nasty medeia's fault for leaking the tape.
WAKE UP! If he hadn't said it, there would be nothing to leak.
If he is fool enough to make such comments to the media to give them such things to leak, just how damned smart is he?
That isn't a knee-jerk reaction. It is an evaluation of intelligence and capability of someone who is running for a position in which every remark they make in front of a camera or microphone has consequence.
If they don't get that 101 type reality of the political arena, they're mincemeat around the savvy politicians in a legislature.
no matter how you slice it the birth certificate issue is a non-starter.
This is congress at issue. These are the people who can stop the obama spending and socialism cold in its tracks.
You might as well be asking candiddates about the yellow fringe on flags.
Do you have reading comprehension issues? You must, because I have said neither of those things on thread.
Seriously, with every post, you look more and more like a DU troll. Now your inventing my thoughts and positions.
