The Denver Mayor picked a Hispanic as his Lt Gov. The Dems think having a Hispanic on the ticket will cause Tancredo to blur out “racist” things to make the GOP look bad.

Who won the primary? Not Tancredo. If he had any honor he would run in the GOP primary. Otherwise he is Sore Loser and part of the problem.

Yes Penry was the guy I was thinking of. I can't think who else would get the nod *if* McInnis and Maes respond to Tancredo's ultimatum.

Quote: The Shrew: The result: Hickenlooper wins if Maes and/or McGinnis stay in the race. If they drop out? Tancredo could take Hickenlooper

There WILL be a GOP nominee and it will not be Tancredo. If the two current candidates accede to his demands he needs to keep his word and follow them out the door. He stands no chance of winning. Even in a hypothetical 1 on 1 match up.

I hope this circus sideshow ends well, and soon.

I agree with you. I think Tanc has too many negatives to win with even a clear shot at Hick.

Public Policy Polling came out with final polls for the CO races.

Bennett leads 49-43.

Norton leads 45-53 over Buck.

McInnis leads 41-40 over Maes.

Good news on the Governor front. There are talks of should McInnis win tomorrow that he would step down if the CO GOP selects a replacement that meets McInnis’s approval. McInnis says either Ken Buck or Jane Norton are acceptable. If Buck is on the ticket either as Governor or Senator, then Tancredo might call off his 3rd party run.

What are you talking about? Tom is in to stay, he said once he accepted the spot and took donations he couldn't back out after that. And he shouldn't.

Tom stepped aside and endorsed McAnus. Took one for the team and they fumbled badly. Tom ain’t the bad guy here.

Many people have said in this thread that Tancredo said if Maes and McInnis drop out that he would as well. I don’t know if he really said it and if he did he would probably think up a convenient excuse to stay in if they did drop out. The only thing he cares about is his ego. If he was serious about being Governor he should have ran as a Republican. He will give you Mayor Tinklepooper as Governor.

ping to 104

If McInnis wins and steps down in favor of another Republican Tancredo better follow suit so Tinklepooper ins’t elected.

Well good that he did.

Sorry, but Tom is out of his freaking mind. I was a "hugh" fan of his until this latest foolishness.

Nice scenario. Hick is already measuring the governor’s mansion windows for drapes. It would be nice to spoil his celebration!

Tom Tancredo says he could never support Tom Wiens for governor
by Donald E. L. Johnson | 8:26 am, August 9, 2010 | 6 Comments

Gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo told me this morning that he never could support former state Senator Tom Wiens for governor.
After he spoke to the Jefferson County Republican Men’s club, I asked Tancredo, “Could you ever support Tom Wiens for governor?” He replied, “No.”
That means that if the winner of tomorrow’s GOP gubernatorial primary quits under pressure from the party and its vacancy committee selects Wiens as a replacement candidate, Tancredo won’t drop out to let Wiens go up against Hickenlooper in a two-way race. As a result, Wiens probably wouldn’t run in a hopeless race. He has been mentioned as a possible replacement candidate if either Scott McInnis or Dan Maes wins the the GOP gubernatorial primary and then quits the race because of widespread concerns about their ethical challenges and competency.

I heard Tancredo on the radio last week changing his requirement for dropping out from a candidate “could win” to “should win”. I think in his mind he is the only candidate who “should win”. This race, unfortunately, is over for the Republicans.

Another interesting blog piece on this situation

Yes, exactly. Also, I don’t know why the Jeffco Republican Men’s Club would even give this idiot a platform.

“The GOP problem is not Tancredo....its running weak Liberal RINO candidates.”

Perfectly said. The GOP blaming Tancredo is the GOP trying to dodge the issue that they run RINO candidates that support illegal aliens.

McInnis may be a lot of things (not all good) but on the illegal immigration issue he is not a RINO:

From April, long before Tancredo was on the scene:

AUDIO: McInnis would enact harsh Arizona-style immigration laws

‘Finally a governor stood up and said We are stopping the retreat, no more retreat’

By Joseph Boven 4/28/10 10:26 AM

On the Peter Boyles talk radio show Wednesday morning, Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott McInnis said that if he were governor, he would seek to pass the same kind of harsh anti-illegal immigration laws recently passed in Arizona.

“I am going to wave the magic wand. You’re governor. What would you do?” Boyles asked McInnis.

“I would do something very similar [to what Gov. Jan Brewer did in Arizona],” said McInnis, lauding Brewer for signing the legislation. “Finally some governor stood up and said ‘We are stopping the retreat. No more retreat. Federal government if you are not going to do it, we are going to do it’… because [illegal immigration] has impacts to all the parties involved in the state of Arizona… By the way, if a person has a driver’s license or a government I.D., there is a presumption of citizenship. That is not the issue. The issue is that government refuses to acknowledge that illegal means illegal.” (Listen here at David Sirota’s 760 radio show.)

The GOP establishment as in the GW Bush amnesty wing hates Tancredo’s guts.

Clearly....If I lived there, I'd tell the GOP groupies to bite, and vote for Tom in a minute.

No. I live in Denver. I voted for Maes. Tancredo could have thrown his hat in the ring a long time ago. His action are going to cost us the governorship and give to the total moron...Hickenlooper. Tancredo’s threats, ultimatums and screwing the people of Colorado are going to be his final demise. It doesn’t mean that I don’t agree with him, but we have to unify under one candidate. Maes won the primary. TancrEGO is a day late and a dollar short. We don’t want him to run and ruin things here. We had a chance until he opened his big mouth. We are too close to the election. Maes is not a RINO and I get pretty upset at people saying this...the ignorance shows. I live here people, and so do some others on the board(s). Tancredo will NEVER get my vote. It goes to Maes.
