Aha! So how many white, Hispanic, or Asian employees did they videotape? Why just the black dude?

I worked for a liquor wholesaler in CT in the mid 1980’s in the order dept. Basically, we answered the phone calls from customers and entered the orders into computers for delivery the following day.
Since there were no deliveries on Mondays, Fridays were painfully slow days, so most of us in the order department had to go and file invoices from deliveries, even more boring!!
Anyway, that’s what the job was. We had one woman in the department who started calling in sick every friday. (She faked diabetic shock once!!) When her sick time ran out, she started calling in saying her aunt or grandmother had just died. (She’s go through the obit in the local paper) When she got questioned as to exactly how many grandmothers she had, her excuse was “oh, it wasn’t my blood grandma, I just was close to her and called her grandma.”
Final straw came one Friday when she called in saying that the apartment house next to her’s was on fire and her door was hot so she couldn’t leave her apartment!! (Honestly, the stupidest excuse anyone has ever come up with.) So, she got fired.
Because she was the only black woman in the order department, she claimed her firing was due to racial bias!! Never sure how far her claim got her.
