Democratic Party front group Media Matters for America has been loyally defending First Lady Michelle Obama's luxurious Spanish vacation this week even as other liberals concede the Obama administration made a politically insensitive call in signing off on the trip.
Today, Media Matters attacked Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit/Pajamas Media for his critique of Michelle Obama's trip. The headline of the attack piece: Michelle Obama derangement syndrome: Instapundit posts pic of First Lady as Marie Antoinette
Not only does the headline reinforce the growing meme that Michelle Obama is acting like a rich pig, but upon opening the article one is confronted with a huge graphic posted by Media Matters of Michelle Obama as Marie Antoinette with her muscular hand set on a globe captioned Choosing the next Vacation that is four times the size of the brief two paragraph attack article:
The illustration is from the Glenn Reynolds piece which itself is a short excerpt of a Roger L. Simon article asserting that Michelle's extravagant trip is one more indication that Barack Obama has a psychological disorder and doesn't really want to be president anymore.
The illustration is grounded in truth, which gives it a credibility that Media Matters, which is suffering from its own version of Obama Derangement Syndrome, can't see because of its blind loyalty to the First Couple.
Since becoming First Lady nineteen months ago, Michelle Obama has vacationed overseas in Paris, London, Copenhagen and Marbella. She still has a family vacation booked to Indonesia and Australia that has been twice postponed this year because of her husband's incompetence and rudeness. She also vacationed in Los Angeles this year, sans her husband, sitting in a luxury box for an NBA championship game and visiting a private beach owned by a billionaire.
Barack and Michelle Obama have also vacationed across America from Hawaii to Maine, with stays at a $4,000 rental home in Hawaii, Martha's Vineyard (with a second trip there later this month) taken over 300 rooms at a Montana resort, traveled through Western National Parks, two Chicago vacation weekends, one weekend vacation each in North Carolina and Maine (with a Florida weekend planned next week) and the infamous date night in New York City.
When the Obamas don't feel like traveling the world, they bring the world to them at taxpayer expense, including a pizza chef from St. Louis and all kinds of performers for their White House parties.
The Marie Antoinette meme is sticking to Michelle Obama, and by extension her husband, because more and more people are seeing the First Couple for what they are. Now more liberal reporters will see them that way, too, thanks to the blind loyalty of Media Matters.
It was a joke. This whole administration is a joke, The idea that Michelle is on a diplomatic vacation is also a joke. Those ‘guys’ don’t like talking to a woman whether she is BO’s wife or someone else’s.

The current week’s comparisons are not related to the past but the future. The alluders think the First Wookie is going to lose her head in on a bloody chopping block.
Oh, I agree and I’ve said the same things recently that The Rookie and the rest of the “guys” in his administration are uncomfortable around women and they don’t treat them with respect that women are afforded. That’s why there are tensions growing between Valerie Jarrett and the men in the administration, and why The Rookie’s chief economic adviser is leaving town.
He wasn’t working he as having a BBQ for his friends Ayers,Wright an the rest of his neighbors and commie friends..I wonder if he ever gets confused since he is a Communist and a Muslim..Trained in both sick groups..
This is what every president does. He goes and visits schools, factories, etc. It’s gone on as long as I can remember. When RWR was POTUS, we lived across the street from a major DC hotel; he and his caravan were there about every other week addressing some group or another.
I personally regret that the person doing it now as POTUS is BHO, but that doesn’t alter the fact that it’s part of the job.
Rather than focusing on where he goes and how he gets there, we might focus on what he does when he is IN the Oval Office. Technically, he’s there 24/7 regardless of where he might be, but more harm is done when he is in that physical location than at a factory or school.
I do worry because I am tired of footing the bill for these free loaders..To many people in this country are living on the street and going to bed under a bridge hungry..Go work at the Salvation Army and see what goes on there it will break your heart to see these people with nothing..
You are personalizing the presidency. I didn’t say Obama is in the White House 24/7, I said he is ‘on duty’ 24/7. Every president is ‘on duty’ with an entire coterie of SS/aides/advisors, etc. around the clock, regardless of his physical location. You may not like the way this president is ‘on duty’ but on duty he is.
The Dems and MSM, knowing better, quite unreasonably gave W all kinds of hell for going to Crawford, and now the R’s are doing the same with Obama. Not a whole lot new there. Except, of course, that W was staying stateside and at his own place. But W was not ‘nouveau riches.’ And, no one seemed to notice that every time Chelsea Clinton had a break from school, the then-FLOTUS had to take a world tour with her daughter.
I have done limited volunteer work with the Salvation Army and the Christian Mission, etc. and even at one time an Urban League tutoring program, since the mid-60’s. Guess what ??? It is no different now than it was 45 years ago. There are still homeless, tho admittedly more since the Carter years when the ACLU got mental patients released onto the streets. There are still abused women/children. There are still ineducable children. There always was and always will be an ‘underclass’ that is heartbreaking. They didn’t arise out of nowhere during Obama’s term of office.
What would you have him do? Stay in the White House Oval Office and devise even more social engineering schemes ? It’s bad enough as it is.

I would remind the audience that a.) it was Bernadine Dohrn, William Ayers' wife, who hired Michelle into Sidley & Austin and b.) it was Michelle who then hired Barack into the firm and supervised him.
I am only speculating, but treasonous activity that undermines the national security of the United States is a far cry from turning a blind eye to affairs, drunkenness, drug use, and boorish behavior in general.
They could even reason that the disclosure of the above could harm national security, but when that security itself is threatened, it’s a whole new ballgame.
We’re in new territory now. I’m sure, without intending to malign the noble character of the Secret Service, that they’ve heard unlawful orders given or have seen a decision-making process that would make Constitutionalists angry.
But, ultimately, those decisions were made by a pro-American president who had a pro-American goal in mind. We’re dealing with a different kind of animal in President (maO)bama and Michelleda Marcos.
Just look in the mirror, American tax-payers.
London tabloid, Daily Mail, stated they took the Marie-Antoinette monicker from a right wing blogger.
