SAN FRANCISCO: Same-sex couples lining up at City Hall (Awaiting Prop 8 Stay to be lifted}

SAN FRANCISCO -- Lesbian and gay couples were lining up this morning at the San Francisco clerk's office, hours before a judge is expected to rule on whether same-sex marriages can resume while his landmark decision in the case is appealed.

Rod Wood, 56, and his boyfriend of seven years, Roger Hunt, 52, were the first in line at San Francisco City Hall. The San Francisco couple said they wanted to be there in case the window of opportunity to wed was small.

Wood proposed to Hunt two days ago, and the couple got rings Wednesday night at the Stonestown Galleria. If the two get married, they plan to celebrate their honeymoon by taking a motorcycle trip to the Sierra.

"I'm trying to remain calm, but I don't want to be devastated if the stay is lifted," Hunt said.

Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker intends to rule today on whether same-sex marriage can resume. Last week, Walker invalidated Proposition 8, which was passed by voters in 2008 and bans same-sex marriage in California, but he immediately put in place a stay that froze enforcement of his ruling.

His action - expected between 9 a.m. and noon - will either lift the stay, which could enable gay and lesbian couples to get married, or to leave it in place, which would maintain the ban.

This black-robed tyrant has already proven that he is incapable of impartial justice. He'll lift the stay.

What’s truly sad about this is the number of people who think that marriage is about getting a piece of paper from the government that makes your relationship legitimate.

Hey,even if they're *not* allowed to get “married” today you can be sure there’ll be a grand old orgy in the bathhouses of the city tonight.

There will be a grand old orgy either way, in fact, just “married” gays likely will honeymoon at the bathouses.

Agreed and that includes hetero marriage too. License? We don't need no stinkin' license.

I think he will too. This is what you get when you blindly install people who are unfit to serve on the courts.

I consider it disheartening to see pastors of various churches on the television saying they can’t wait to marry same sex couples too. Of course the media has a list at the ready to tap into for this sort of thing.

To borrow from somebody else...

If they’re lining up, remember that happiness is belt fed.

This is SO. STUPID.

That couple who are lined up to "get married" - what is stopping them? They bought rings, they have declared their love and fealty to each other, and if they are religious they can even take vows before God if they want and can believe that God has blessed their relationship. They can legally have a Civil Union in California that provides the exact same legal right to them that any opposite-sex couple has.

All this nonsense, because THEY WANT THAT PIECE OF PAPER that says "Marriage License." Idiots!

The judge said that religion and morals were “irrational”. But gay guys continuing to go to the “Bath Houses” after AIDS, which is still incurable, is rational.
