WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) -- A lesbian cadet asked to resign from the U.S. Military Academy because she said she can no longer lie about her sexuality and was troubled by the anti-gay attitudes of some around her.

Katherine Miller of Findlay, Ohio, also said she wants to fight for repeal of the "don't ask, don't tell" law, a subject she was studying and writing about as a sociology major at West Point.

Sociology Major? What an astounding waste of taxpayers’ money. I thought you had to have a hard science major at West Point.

“I Say Again” (always heard over the public loudspeaker at West Point when instructions are given to cadets)

You do have a “science” major. You carry another “major” in addition. Check the West Point website to see how they overload the cadets, and how many credits they end up with at graduation.

Most “college age kids” couldn’t handle it, honestly. Particularly when you understand how small the class sizes are, and how hard it is to show up for class “unprepared”. You can’t!

And, you can’t cheat, either.

“a subject she was studying and writing about as a sociology major at West Point.”

First, her resignation just shows that DADT is a success. But sociology at West Point? Give me a break!!

>>> the first two years are free if you elect to not start your third year. At the beginning of your third year - at all the service academies - you have to sign a contract, which obligates you to active duty

As is so often the case in these gay threads, most people seem to be going off... uhhhh, half cocked.

Olddeckhand shows this is the decision time. My first question would be how many cadets drop out at this stage. Is this one young lady unique, or simply one of some number of people who change their mind.

If there are others, and I’m confident there are, I’d assume they have various reasons for not choosing to pursue graduation. Unsurprising a reporter would find and focus on the one who didn’t like the DADT policy, and unsurprising so many take the bait.

What a coincidence. She realizes she has “compromised her integrity and identity” right at the deadline after receiving 2 FREE years of a college education. This is a scam. Now she can go to Yale and get her 4-year degree and only pay for two years. The military and the taxpayer are being taken for fools. West Point should send her a bill for those two years and then change their policy to avoid con artists like her.

If women were any good at fighting we would have had all women armies for the last 3000 years. Unfortunately they are not good at fighting so why do we waste time and money training them for the war occupation? And don't give me any of the usual exceptions to the rule they are so few it's ridiculous to mention them. I have not been impressed with some of these high ranking female officers that are trotted out at some of these press conferences they have. Not the sort of leaders we will need when the inevitable push comes to shove down the road.

Gay is a sexual construct, lifestyle and behavior. When the US gives gays the special rights of minority dominance over the targets, look out. Sexual aggression is not pretty, especially when it is homo men dominating heterosexual men. Check any prison for proof. They are going to rape the shit out of our society.

Go read history. The Bible. Gay lit from ancient times. That is EXACTLY what they do. RAPE. It consumes them until nothing but rage driven lust remains. All love, compassion, hope, and reason are lost to it.

And we are not ABLE to undo it. No society has ever put that genie back in the bottle. They all DIED an ugly death.

Prepare for what is coming and do not look back.

They are doing male gang rape in Europe now. It is coming to a Nation near US soon. The elite have crossed the line and men allowed it.

I honestly don't know. I was commissioned via the NROTC program and did not attend any of the service academies myself. I believe - although this is only anecdotal - that the dropout rate is less than 10%.
