Joe Scarborough on Monday bashed former House Speaker Newt Gingrich for saying the building of the Ground Zero mosque would be like putting a Nazi sign next to the Holocaust Museum...
The next day on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Scarborough let Gingrich have it...
(Excerpt) Read more at newsbusters.org ...
Scarborough is being a fool. If he wants to humiliate his country a second time, then that’s on him.
Can Joe please switch parties please.
I thought Gingrich echoes Nancy pelosi’s position on everything.
Joe Scarborough who? I don’t care if he takes breath.
Always follow the money trail...
What does it say at the top of his paycheck?
GE-NBC (Leftist Globalist Company)
I thought he and Mika broke up?
Have we heard Nancy’s position on the mosque yet? It is an election year for her...
“Can Joe please switch parties please.”
He already did, just didn’t announce it.
Joe should be stuffed up Newts fanny.
Whatever happens with the mosque, the Constitution must be respected. Would be nice to see everyone agree to that.
Joe Scarborough is a low-life POS!
Joe Scarborough is a Patriot. Standing up for your Constitution is everyone’s duty.
Getting ahead of angry mob and spreading fear and adding fuel to the fire require no courage or skill.
Of all the things, people have lost their minds to the point that now we are ready to throw away Bill of Rights? Wake up people.
Newt has chosen to serve Elites. He won’t come and bail you out of Fema-Camp someday, if you go along and give up Bill of Rights.
Hmmm....
So it was out of context and now when you read the actual paragraph and compare it to Joe’s mischaracterization, they have no parity between them.
Scarborough should stick with dead girls in office and leave big shite to we experts.
Welcoming Moon Rock Female Enslavement Islam into America with open arms ain’t PATRIOTISM hoss.
Maybe you took a wrong turn when u registered on this austere forum.
I’ve yet to see anyone suggest the Constitution shouldn’t be respected on this issue.
What I DO see is a lot of people who realize that just because something is Constitutionally-protected doesn’t mean it’s right, or that we have to like it, or shut up about not liking it.
Welcome to FR nOOb. Joe is a self agrandizing idiot who take a paycheck from GE, a company who took bailout money for banks.
He is not exactly approaching issues without an external influence.
There is no Constitional issue here. No one is denying them their right.
We are asking for politeness, out respect for continued grievance.
There probably isn’t anything we can legally do to stop this monstrosity from being built.
BTW, Joe took Newt’s statement so far out of context it is just unbelievable!
In a post-Shirley Sherrod world, shouldn’t commentators be careful about expressing an opinion about excerpted comments? Isn’t this especially true for a so-called conservative reading excerpts printed in the New York Times?
For instance, Gingrich said the following on “Fox & Friends” this Monday morning providing a little more context to these twelve words:
GINGRICH: This happens all the time in America. Nazis don’t have the right to put up a sign next to the Holocaust Museum in Washington. We would never accept the Japanese putting up a site next to Pearl Harbor. There’s no reason for us to accept a mosque next to the World Trade Center.
Much less offensive in that context, correct?
Joe'd best prepare his widow and his kids for his own funeral because it's gonna' be a wet one fur shur.
The judges should do the same ~ those rulings in favor of Westboro Baptist Church are like a siren call for equal treatment eh.
Newt is trolling for campaign funds.
You just want people to roll over and shut about this, but respect for the Constitution includes you standing still while we get up in your face and scream at you about how sinful you are ~ whether you like it or not.
The strange death of Lori Klausutis received only a few short stories in the Northern Florida press; and the Washington Post printed only 44 words in a Nation-in-brief report dealing with the covered up and mysterious death of a female staffer in a Republican congressman's district office--a story that shocked us after hearing about it from federal agents because the revelation was kept from the public. The 44 words released were: "FORT WALTON BEACH, FL--Lori Klausutis, a 28-year-old office worker for Rep. Joe Scarborough (R-FL), was found dead in the congressman's district office. Police said preliminary findings from the medical examiner's office showed no foul play or any outward indication of suicide." Curiously, Klausutis was reportedly active in Florida's Bush v. Gore 2000 election recount activity--raising questions about what she knew; and on Friday, July 20th, 2001, her body was found slumped next to a desk on the floor of Scarborough's Fort Walton Beach office where Lori served as a constituent services coordinator since May, 1999.
Klausutis was found around 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning by a couple arriving for an appointment, and she had been dead for some time as the police cordoned off the office for an investigation; but they later announced that there was no reason to suspect foul play, nor were there signs of suicide--but national news outlets commenced a total television blackout.
Scarborough had recently resigned from Congress--prematurely and unexpectedly--on the heels of reported rumors about his marital fidelity and shortly after his marriage ended in divorce.
Welcoming? There are 8 million muslims in US and most are citizen. Constitution is not your exclusive property. Read it sometime.
There is a mosque that is MUCH CLOSER to Ground Zero, on 20th street that is open for business now. The new proposed one is much farther out than that one.
Why is there no effort to close that one?
If LENGTH of the distance from Ground-Zero is the issue, don’t you want to start with the one that is closer first?
This is nothing but ELITES attempt to rile people and get them to THROW AWAY there Bill-of-Rights. One document that protects us from them, they are happy to have people trample upon it.
Perhaps when likes of Janet Reno/Bill Clinton return to power, and declare someone else domestic terrorist for inciting disorderly conduct (Powers that now they will courtesy of the Exuctive Orders and Patriot Act), and then sent takes to put them down, you might cry for when you still had BILL OF RIGHTS.
Hi-ho, Newbie!
You can now count yourself among that .0005 % of FReepers who think Joe Scarborough is just a fine and dandy Conservative Patriot.
Puh-leez.
We have a lot of very shallow politicians.
Oh, please. Spare us the First Amendment lecture. No one is stopping Muslims from worshiping or building a mosque, but we are opposed to having it built so close to what, for most Americans, is considered hallowed ground. Opponents have made it crystal clear that the Muslims have a legal right to build their mosque but are engaging in a provocative act by placing it so close to 'Ground Zero'.
Joe Scarborough is a shill for the left masquerading as a 'conservative' on the most liberal network on television. I won't question his innate patriotism but I will question his judgment and his integrity. That you support his misguided attack on perfectly reasonable comments by Newt Gingrich taken out of context in a very liberal, anti-conservative newspaper, the New York Times, makes me wonder why you are even here on FR. Trolling, perhaps?
Watched part of his show this morning but had to turn it off. He and the guests continually harped on the Constitutional reasoning without bringing up the “Wisdom” of Obama’s statements. Seems like the left (including Scarborough) had their talking points and refused to actually attempt to understand the issue. Not the first time for this show - after all, it is NBC.
They may continue to call Joe a conservative (actually used to like him) but he has succumbed to the indoctrination that being in the presence of only one side of the debate (far left) will warp any individual. He is a lost cause...
Really, that many? I have to see one besides me! I guess there is hope! Thanks for sharing that uplifting stat with me!
If the distance is issue, there is one Mosque much closer to WTC on 20th street.
Why not try and get that one closed first?
Lori said “Please”, too, just before the hitman cracked her skull open.
I believe most Americans share Gingrich’s views on this subject.
Islam should not be welcome here.
Our founders never even had it on the table that such a monstrosity would ever invade a Judeo-Christian nation they inhabited though some learned later how that culture works.
Not one Islamic nation in the world is what we would call free by western standards...the West is follish to keep allowing them in here.
and before you try the Turkey canard they are peddling away from Attaturk secularism as fast as they can.
you sound like Paul Craig Roberts
Joe sold out years ago —
Seriously? must’ve become an Independent, does he know that Independents are not supporting Obama?
Do suppose we could build a KKK memorial right next to Martin Luther Kings grave and everybody would be okay with it? We could even make it a tribute to the late Democrat, Robert "Sheets" Byrd.
Why don't the muzzie's build there crap back in their own country.
Newt won’t be topped.
Sort of like George Wallace. He gained national notice as ... “I was out-nixxered, and I will never be out-nixxered again.” .
Scarborough made some excellent points this morning — once the camel’s nose is under the tent, maybe next time it’ll be an Evangelical church told it can’t build in San Francisco because the locals are “offended”.
What about Paul Craig Roberts? Did he say something about this?
Distance is arbitrary.
If we go by that, then it would be same problem that we are havinig closing Gitmo.
No one wants those prisoners in their State.
What is to say that people in the new spot won’t be just as offended. Was tragedy of 9/11 exclusive for people with 1-2 miles radius of Ground Zero? Were Americans in other places hurt or just as hurt and offended?
Second, as I pointed out to other posters, there is already a Mosque that is open now, on 20th street, much CLOSER to Ground Zero? Why isn’t there outrage about that? Is it because this new one is being used as a way to rile people, and distract them from being ROBBED by Bankers, and have them focus on each other?
Rights are rights, and that is why when we LEAST like them, we must still PROTECT them, because once you open the door, rest assured, in DUE TIME we would ALL lose them.
All Elites want is to get their foot in. This is their first foray to TRAMPLE Bill of Rights. Either we defend it, or this is STEP-1 in losing it.
Mr Newt has been making a whole lot of sense lately.
Now that's the real fascist tactic.
What’s wrong with what Newt said?
“This happens all the time in America. Nazis don’t have the right to put up a sign next to the Holocaust Museum in Washington. We would never accept the Japanese putting up a site next to Pearl Harbor. There’s no reason for us to accept a mosque next to the World Trade Center.”
Not a damn thing wrong with this statement.
Yep. Berkeley already tried to throw out US Army Recruiters. I believe San Francisco already is trying to pass some legislation to oppose churches that oppose gay Marriages. I am no 100% but I heard something like that. Maybe someone else remembers can post relevant information. I have to do some search, but it was RECENT.
It is freaking time that muslims practiced some tolerance instead of demanding it.
I think most of us realize the constitutional issue here. The matter really falls upon propriety and sensitivity. This is absolutely designed as an "in-your-face" move to build this center. We don't necessarily have to ignore the Constitution to work to keep it from being built. While most people can agree that they have a right to build it, we also have a right to oppose it. This can be done in many ways. Construction projects are delayed every day in cities and states by red tape, palm greasing, and zoning disagreements. Look at the ground zero project itself. How many years is it going to take before that thing is finished?
If anything, we should be roadblocking the hell out of this until the project either gets too expensive, or they get bored and move on to somewhere else. It happens all the time on innocent projects, and it could happen here as well if we had politicians with stones. And it could all be done while staying within the Constitution.
Why not try and get that one closed first?
The already-built 20th street mosque does not constitute a visible insult to the families of people killed in the attack on America, September 11, 2001 and proves the point that no one is claiming Muslims cannot build a mosque or worship. That is clearly a bogus argument and you know it.
You're attempting to blunt the opposition to the proposed mosque in question by focusing on it's location, as if that is the sole point of contention, which you must know it is not. You carefully avoid dealing with the sheer impropriety of building a 13-story tower dedicated to Islam hard by the site of the sneak attack by Muslim terrorists nine years ago in Manhattan. Thus, your defense of this proposed mosque is specious and unconvincing.
