Senator Bob Brown (Leader of the Greens) calling for proportional representation. Besides that a rather gracious speech.

Yeah. Is it just me or has the commentary and coverage so far of this election been unusually fair and good natured.
To: Piefloater
Yes, I agree.
I’m hoping Senator Brown genuinely realises the importance of the balance of power - that it does mean trying to have a good relationship with both sides if you can and not just spoiling.

The probable new 20-year-old Member for Longman is on - and seems very mature for his age, but Lord, he could be in Parliament for 50 years!
I’m wondering where he went to school.

Good news - my local member and friend has been returned. It was looking iffy, earlier.
Hopefully by the end of next week, he’ll be a Cabinet Minister.

Overall
50.3 to 49.7 in our favour.
This number is going to be important. Having a majority of the overall vote allows us to make a claim in a hung parliament that we have the moral authority to govern. There’s no rules about this, but it will be an argument used.

Everybody seems to be just accepting it’s a hung parliament at this point, although it’s not yet official and won’t be for some days.
Bob Katter (one of the independents) says that they will choose as a block who to support. As most of them are former members of conservative parties, that’s probably good for us.

I am smiling - he might be a good one!
50 years in Parliament! UGH. Do your incumbents get wrong-headed and power drunk as time goes on like they do here?
