Why is Target wearing a target?

A dozen Minnesota companies have sent corporate money into this year's political campaign, from Securian Financial to Polaris Industries to Davisco Foods.

So why is everyone focusing on Target Corp.?

The question arises because Target finds itself alone in the center of the storm. To its critics, there are both logical and emotional reasons why Target has become the poster child in a nationwide controversy after it gave corporate cash to a group backing Tom Emmer, the Republican candidate for governor with a record of opposing gay rights.

The logical reasons, they say, include Target being Minnesota's first corporate donor, Target being the largest donor ($150,000) and Target being the biggest company.

But the reasons are emotional, too, touching on Target's deep connection to consumers, even more so than for electronic retailer Best Buy — a corporate contributor that gave the same group $100,000.

Target gave money to a Republican group. The MSM is outraged. Screw them.

It amounts to nothing more than "political extortion"...you give money to the gays, or we rout you out in the media.

Target is a corporation, not the government. They can make the decision to support whomever, or whatever they want, so long as it it legal.

This is part of "obamathink", trying to control private enterprise to fall in line with politically correct causes and special interest groups.

We've seen this "extortion" for "equal rights" take down the country, and someone needs to stand up and start fighting back. Once these groups get a foothold, there is no stopping them. Before it's over, they'll walk into Target, demand the keys to the safe...and if you don't give it to them, they'll file charges and write bad stuff about you in the newspaper.

I say f***'em...let them take their best shot. If gays want to boycott Target, then do it. A lot less people go to Disneyworld on "Gay Day" than any other day, so your regular business will probably flourish. I know I would go there just because they stood their ground.

If we regular, everyday Americans used our expendable case to support those who take a stand for America and what's right, and ignore those who coddle the fringe elements, a lot more business would soon follow suit.

I spent a couple hundred at Target today for the first time in years, just because . . . .

The disease ridden homosexual population can be very vindictive which in turn only proves the case against them.

Target is a good company and they treat their employees well.

The CEO of Whole Foods is another good guy and ditto Traders Joes/Aldi owned by the German Albrecht family.

When are these groups going to go after Barack (”I am not somebody who promotes same-sex marriage”) Obama, and all the other Libs who are opposed to it?

They also didn't tell the transgender loons to go whistle. A number of years ago, when Target (Dayton Hudson in those days) made some anti life contributions and the pro life people complained, DH didn't say much encouraging to the pro life people.

In this case they made a contribution to the only pro business guy in the race. He happens to think marrige is for lads and lasses which makes him worse than Lucifer.

Hence the Target target.

But they fired the good CEO of Whole Foods for telling the truth about CommieCare. I haven't been back since.

They have stores in Democrat Strongholds and the issue is where their stores are located and their support of a Republican.

Hey! I’m going to shop more at Target and use my Target CC for more things as opposed to other corporations! Good news.

Target and Whole Foods have supported any number of leftist causes. I'm not going to shop at their stores just because of ONE non-liberal donation or comment.

A lot of corporate libs have had their eyes opened by Obama's punish-the-private-sector theology. It doesn't mean they've come to their senses. It only means they can't pretend anymore that getting in bed with marxists and socialists won't hurt their bottom line.

Don’t they realize that they can not hurt Target? This is making conservatives go out of their way to shop there and since we out number them....

It's all about what we find morally appalling being forced upon us whether we like or not.
Looks like Target and Best Buy are going to be the 2 stores I will be buying my products from.
We need to get a list of companies that give campaign contributions to gay rights, abortion, liberal causes, so we know where to not go shopping.
Our side will win the war of boycotts because there are more of us than them.
I won't buy a car from FORD because they support gay rights, I won't buy anything from Ikea.

The real issue here is trying to forcibly take over every vote possible. Let’s see, when’s the last time someone tried to rig elections to fund just themselves, or rig it so that they won. Let’s see communist regimes do exactly that. But the “c” word is unheard of by a group of people who don’t like the use of the democratic system. Just about every group of people that has lived in America has been rejected for at least a period of time by the democratic system. Sad thing is that these people just can’t deal with it. A few years of petitioning in a civil manner can do wonders, if someone bothers reading about U.S. History and the Civil Rights Movement. Secondly, as bad as Target supposedly is in the eyes of these activists, their sponsorship is their decision, just as it would be a decision of someone like me. If you really don’t like it, don’t bother buying from a Target store.

Target is a good company...

Which is sad when you realize the other stores a great deal of these people are actually supporting when they bash on Target.

Probably never will. They are the closest thing I have seen to a brainwashed voting block, if John Kerry, Obama, or his Pastor by the name of Wright doesn’t wake them up, I don’t know what will.

I’m a target fan, for their prices (mostly) and their cleanliness and professionalism. My only complaint is that their employees are given a little too much liberty on what they can “wear.” But I guess, being a little to the left, that can be expected.

I don’t know why the sodomites are so ticked - Gub. candidate Emmer is behind his Democratic challenger in the latest Rasmussen poll.
