(CNSNews.com) - For the first time in his presidency, Barack Obamas average weekly disapproval rating has hit 50 percent, according to the Gallup Poll.
Each week, Gallup interviews about 3,500 American adults, asking them whether they approve or disapprove of the job President Obama is doing. On a daily basis, the polling firm publishes a three-day rolling average of the results; and, on a weekly basis, it publishes the weekly average.
During the week of Aug. 16-22, President Obamas average approval was 43 percent and his average disapproval was 50 percent. This marked both Obamas lowest average weekly approval rating in the Gallup poll and his highest average weekly disapproval rating.
President Obama's job approval rating slipped to 43 percent for the week of Aug. 16-22, down one percentage point from the previous weekly low set a week ago, said Gallups analysis of the poll. The new low also marks the first weekly average in which 50 percent of Americans disapprove of Obamas job performance. The erosion reflects particularly low ratings at the beginning of last week, including 41% for Aug. 15-17 and Aug. 16-18, the lowest three-day averages of his administration.
The Gallup analysis of the poll pointed to a question that cannot be answered by the polling data: Would Obamas weekly approval rating have been even lower had he not gone on vacation at the end of the week, causing a decline in news coverage of his activities.
The president arrived at Martha's Vineyard, Mass., on Thursday, settling in with his family for a 10-day vacation, and for the most part dropping out of the daily news cycle, said the Gallup analysis. Whether this contributed to his slightly better ratings near the end of the week cannot be determined.
The full Gallup poll results for the week of Aug. 16-22 show some interesting trends in Obamas approval rating. These include:
--For the first time, Obamas average weekly approval rating dropped below 40 percent among men. In the week ending Aug. 22, only 39 percent of males said they approved of the job Obama is doing. Among females, Obamas approval rating was 46 percent.
--For the first time, Obama average weekly approval rating dropped below 40 percent among those in the 50-64 age bracket. Obamas approval rating increases as the respondents grow younger. His most recent weekly approval rating was 37 percent among those 65 and older, 39 percent among those 50-64, 44 percent among Americans in the 30-49, and 52 percent among those 18-29.
--No region of the country gives Obama an approval rating above 50 percent. For the week ending Aug. 22, Obamas approval rating was 37 percent in the South, 43 percent in the Midwest, 46 percent in the West, and 47 percent in the East. Obamas 37 percent approval in the South marked the first time his average weekly approval dropped below 40 percent in any region of the country.
--When Americans are sorted into income groups, Obama wins the least approval from those on the bottom end of the middle-class. For the week ending Aug. 22, Americans earning between $2,000 and $4,999 per month gave him an approval rating of 39 percent. This is the first time Americans in any income bracket reported by Gallup gave Obama an approval rating of less than 40 percent. No income bracket gave Obama an approval rating as high as 50 percent. Among those earning less than $2,000 per month, his approval rating was 49 percent. Among those earning $5,000-$7,499 per month, his approval rating was 43 percent. And among those earning more than $7,500 per month his approval rating was 40 percent.
Time to gin up some more CRA highway signs.
Q: “What the Hells wrong with those people?”
A: They don’t want to bite the hand that feeds them (from the public trough).
Well, that is just his POLICIES. They still love Obama the PERSON - after all, he is the FIRST trans-racial President
While this all bodes well for the future of the country, please remember only one poll matters this year:
N O V E M B E R 2
Show up and make YOUR disapproval heard LOUD and CLEAR.
Help the office supply stores in DC run out of their stock of "Hello, my name is..." nametags for all the new GOP Congress members!
I can only imagine what his true handicap is.
It's just a shame that it's too late for America to take a mulligan.
I dunno..... Ras has him sittin’ pretty good and steady. Certainly not Innaguaration Day numbers but re-electable numbers. If only the MSM did their job : (
And everyone should send emails to their newly elected congressmen:
“Congratulations on your election! Now, never forget that we’ll hold YOUR feet to the fire just as much as your predecessor”
IIRC, Gallup does this poll on "adults" so it's not filtered for registered or likely voters. It will generally be the most favorable for B.O. As such, it's pretty bad for Barry. He's fixin' to drop into the 30's.
nail on head.
I’m sick of the bias media the ignorant voters who seem to think that voting doesn’t have consequences.
The students who treat voting as American idol in the last election and the ignorant fools who have no clue even while they the drive to vote and then make a last second decision.
I think Mugabe offered to make his country into an muslim country in return for a loan from Khaddafi. IIRC, he then used the money for, among other things, fuel.
Along with a story on how “race” is playing such an important factor in his low ratings with “whitey” America.
You forgot one salient point: The Democrat Party steals elections by letting felons and illegals and phantom registrants vote. Philly consistently records more votes than eligible voters and no one is every arrested for this felony. Third world countries should come to our Democrat-infested cities to monitor our crooked elections.
Imam Obamah cares more about his golf score than American Jobs!
Maybe it's time for another luxury vacation in Spain...
Get some time away from the "bitter" rednecks in small towns
clinging to guns and religion that annoy him so much.
They just don't get away on vacation enough.
The reason is that Gallup polls a sample of "all adults." That includes illegals, lifelong moochers, and other sorts who either arent registered to vote or rarely show up. Such a sample will typically be more lefty than samples of registered or, better yet, likely voters.
From the standpoint of what will happen in November, what all adults think is minimally meaningful. It's what likely voters think that matters, and likely voter polls show him with even lower approval.
Why does Gallup do this? It either wants to skew the sample to the left or is opting for the cheapest polling method. Or both.
