This is exactly 100% correct.
If the GOP can't take a strong stance on marriage being between one man and one woman, it is useless as a political party.
The second they do that, I'll be looking to join a third party.

That's just the practical political reality. Eventual homosexual marriage in America is as predictable as death and taxes.
Wrong.
As far as I'm concerned, marriage is a good hill to die on. We need to defend the institution, or go down trying. If the homos get their way, they'll be after your kids and grandkids in short order.

Probably so, and they would be flaming A-holes for doing so. We are likely at our last chance to stop a literal socialist revolution and the total economic destruction of America.
LOL. As if economics trumps morality.
Economics means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

I agree,, and one further, i think this whole gay thing coming now is specifically designed to weaken the coming counter-Obama revolt.
Oh? How so? If the GOP had a collective brain, they'd be all over this issue and using it to convince Blacks and Hispanics that they are better off voting Republicans because the Democrats are 100% gay friendly. This issue is tailor-made to break the Democrat coalition. And yet, the geniuses in the Republican Party listen to Ken Mehlman and go soft on the issue.
Let's face it. The GOP is a bunch of lily-livered sissies who deserve to lose in November.

BINGO! Ethnic communities are overwhelmingly against the homosexual lifestyle freaks - especially the Black churches. If the GOP got its act together it could galvanize a lot of these groups to oppose this sodomite insanity.

I have left the Republican Party primarily over this issue and the issue of Rino betrayal.
Two days ago, I joined the Veterans Coalition of the Constitution Party. The few weaknesses I see in the CP are absolutely miniscule compared to the moral and patriotic equivocation I see on the part of the Republican Party.
For those interested in comparison, please go to: Constitution Party Page Including Links: Principles & Platform The link to the Veterans Coalition is on that page.
As always, I am a conservative independent, pledging support to any true conservative in any race. Pray, my friends.

Eventual homosexual marriage in America is as predictable as death and taxes/That's either hopeless defeatism (note my tagline), or the attempt to lower others' morale on purpose.
I don't care which one it is. Someone with that attitude either needs to get some spine or some morals.

I pinged it last night (above) to both lists but heck this needs to get noticed. The traitors in the GOP are either trying to destroy the Republican party on purpose or just trying to push the homosexual agenda and don’t care what happens to the party.
One or the other or I guess both.

The natural family is the very foundation of human civilization. We can see the social chaos due to the partial desctruction right now - rampant divorce, sex outside of marriage, abortion, acceptance and even promotion of perversion, pornography, etc.
Homosexual “marriage” and all the baggage that comes with it will be the attempted final blow.
The social violence and chaos will be unimaginable. And what happens to cultures when there is chaos and violence and a whole lot of feral humans? People actually beg for a totalitarian government.
That is the end result.

McCain would be overjoyed with that.

civil unions are just talking points of homosexuals.
The PRESENT LAW provides for cohabitation agreements. Does the same job, enforcable in court, and generally the forms are free or less than $40.00.
This debate is not about homosexuals, it is about attacking marriage and who controls the core of society. Homosexuals are just tools for the socialists.

"That's either hopeless defeatism (note my tagline), or the attempt to lower others' morale on purpose. " No, it's an informed understanding of the practical reality. There is NOT even close to enough support to pass a marriage amendment. If you believe otherwise, you have no idea how constitutional amendments are passed in this country. They're HARD to pass, that's why there has been only 17 of them in the 223 years that have passed since the the first Constitutional Convention and initial adoption of the Constitution. It doesn't take a majority to pass a constitutional amendment, it takes a super-majority. There is not a super-majority of support to ban homosexual marriage.
I also understand how the federal judiciary works, and I watch the Court closely enough to predict how Kennedy will vote on this issue - he's going to vote with the liberals. I think there's even a chance that Roberts and perhaps Alito vote with the liberals as well - we'll see. People forget that Roberts litigated two gay (for the homosexuals) cases when he was in private practice. In any event, it only takes Kennedy to make homosexual marriage the law of the land, and that will come probably sometime in 2012 or 2013 at the latest.
I don't deal in fantasy, I deal in reality. If you think that's "defeatist", so be it.

...if we let these buggers get their way, then we can look forward to pedos, trannies, people who are into animals, polygamists and every other god awful plague becoming more vocal in coming years. That's fine for them; let them do what they want in the privacy of their homes and social clubs. It is their insistence on adopting children, infiltrating the schools with propaganda, and LOWERING THE AGE OF SEXUAL CONSENT that are the problems.

When people like Mehlman come out as homosexual, the reasons why the GOP doesn't adopt such common-sense rhetorical tactics become obvious. The ranks of the lackeys of our elected leaders are shot through with self-serving homosexuals who are acting neither for the good of the party, nor for the good of the country. They are acting for what they perceive to be their own good.
They are, in other words, moles.

I just posted this on another thread, applies here as well:
If a person actually has conservative principles but is constantly telling others stuff like "It's over, it's hopeless, they'll win, get used to it" - they're as bad as that coward in "Saving Private Ryan" who refused to deliver the ammo and caused so many deaths. Cowards can go to hell, as far as I'm concerned.
And those who are not the cowards with supposed principles are just regular leftists (aka "pragmatists" and "realists" - btw, so well described in "Screwtape" and "That Hideous Strength") who want to instill fear and defeatism in conservatives so their side can win.
It's that simple. Read my tagline by C.S.Lewis. He was right.
