...When Sarah Palin resigned as Governor almost everyone (yours truly included) thought it was a dumb, even move. Well, guess who looks smart and who looks dumb now. Had she remained a Governor with hopes of a Presidential run in 2012, she would have had to start all over again. She would also have left behind a Dan Quayle-like reputation. Palin guessed that this was her year to be a national force, and she guessed right...

no wonder she was smiling after she announce she was stepping down, she was reloading and all of the anxiety from others (even from FR) screaming that even going on Oprah was going to be an disaster it was going to be a trap, doing the Tea Party Convention speech was going to be an disaster, being Fox news contributor was going to be an disaster, of her picking long shots in the Primaries was going to be a disaster...well?
....I can see 2012 from back of my house....
Remember that Olivia Newton John song ‘I believe in Magic...” Only problem is.... she’s a Liberal. Is she still alive?
I, for one, applauded Palin when she announced she was stepping down as governor. It was a brilliant move. I like people who think out-of-the-box.
yep.....staying in office would have been a death sentence not only on her politically but her state, her adminstration and her family would havd suffered by 2011....she was needed down here in the lower 48
I was also on board quickly praising Palin. I pointed out how she had an opportunity like no other politician I had yet seen to endorse and build. It was a good move.
Numerous commentators and blog commenters have characterized Palin's resignation as her kobayashi maru moment, in which, emulating Star Trek's Captain Kirk, she realized that the only way she could win was by changing the rules.
Governor Sarah Palin keeps playing 3-D chess while everybody else is playing checkers.
Keep it up, LIBs. All that negativity does is make he look better and better. Besides, I love the smell of LIBs heads exploding.
Sarah explained clearly why she was stepping down; otherwise Imam obama’s foot soldiers would have bankrupted her & her family with baseless ethics charges to defend and keep her too busy to focus on a 2012 run.
It also gave her the freedom to move forward (reload) and counter-attack her enemies.
Yet socialists (and some freepers) screamed “quitter” and demonstrated a lack of understanding and refusing to accept what she said as fact.
I like her - not sure about how high she will go, but she can make the most of life doing what she has done this cycle, pick some people to support, change the nature of “grass roots” and build something that has people inspired. I fear that she tries to make every speech a repeat of the convention, she can do more by going slow. Her Honor America speech seemed rushed not heartfelt. Maybe taht is her only style of making a speech. But as you said, she has beaten a lot of entrenced people.
I didn’t applaud, but I didn’t think it was the end of her either. First off, I think she’s great, would vote for her tomorrow (or two years from November, as the case may be). BUT, she does things her own way. She does NOT defer to ‘the way things are done.’
Therefore, I was confidant that Sarah was doing what she saw as best. My hope was that her instincts were as good on this subject as they had been in the past, and frankly, they seem to have been.
My wife is wearing her Palin 2012 t-shirt every chance she gets. No negative responses yet, several thumbs up.
I can see 2012 from my house, too
