Republicans take largest ever midterm lead

Republicans have taken an unprecedented 10-point lead over the Democrats ahead of November’s midterm polls.

A poll by Gallup gave the current minority party its largest lead of the year and its largest midterm advantage since the company started such polling in 1942, with 51 per cent of US voters saying they would vote Republican and 41 per cent saying they would vote for the Democratic Party.

Gallup, whose poll has previously served as an accurate guide to voter intentions, said the result “suggests the potential for a major 'wave’ election in which the Republicans gain a large number of seats and in the process take back control of the House”.

The Democrats have a 75-seat advantage in the House, but disillusionment with the economy and fears over the long-term effects of the country’s massive debt have led President Barack Obama’s party to downplay their expectations.

Though a Democratic resurgence cannot be ruled out, the conventional wisdom is Washington is that they have run out of time to make a comeback. They may have to accept losing the House and hope to hang on to the Senate, where they currently have a 59-41 advantage. In July, Robert Gibbs, the president’s spokesman, acknowledged that the Republicans could win control of the House of Representatives in the crucial elections.

“The timeline is too short now. People have made up their minds. It’s too late to do the kind of big thing needed to turn this economy around,” said columnist Bob Herbert.

The results of AP-Gfk poll suggested that many of the most involved voters – those with the deepest feelings about issues high on the nation’s agenda – are furious with the party in power. Just 35 per cent said the country was heading in the right direction, a number similar to

There is no national Conservative Party. The GOP is the conservative party. We need to work within the party not abandon it.

Primaries are when we vote for the best candidates. The general election is when we vote for the candidate that will do the LEAST amount of damage to the country.

NO VOTING FOR 3RD PARTY CANDIDATES!!! (Unless you want to hand over the country PERMANENTLY to the Socialists.)

I’m gone. They keep putting fools into power, I might as well have a Dem cracking the whip over me. No more new master same as the old master. We need to get right. No conservatives, no money. Let them spend a couple decades wandering tin the desert, they’ll figger it out. Until then, they can keep putting RINO’s in office without my help.

My donations go directly to the candidate, bypass the GOP and we’ll see who’s left standing. Besides, I think we might get better results with fighting third Manassas and letting that settle it.

Screw the GOP.

If it comes to a second civil war, I will not be cheering for the socialist or any minions who back him, but I don't think that is the right answer. Yet.

As for ten real Americans who have NEVER backed a scummy Obama/Pelosi-worthy bill that hurts America, that may be a tough one. However, I would prefer, for now, to go with the words of another great American, one who backed a few bills that disgust me:

Exactly. Now tell me, since the past three years have brought about the most sweeping changes in history, how many Dems can you name that bucked their leadership?

You want change?

YOU CAN’T DO IT WITH THE LIMP WRISTED PICKS WE HAVE.

Old sayings became old sayings because they are true. You have to fight fire with fire. And the GOP walks softly and carries ... nothing.

When they do, the left will start a fight. They always have, and they will not change for Hatch or Brown. And if we don’t fight them they will continue pushing us further left until we have to fight them Either way, this isn’t going to be peaceful. And it isn’t going to be accomplished with Snowe and Collins. Cripes.

I would rather have control of the Senate, with 30 true conservatives and 21 RINOs, including Snowe, Collins, McCain, and the others who blow with the political winds than push for 51 true conservatives knowing that I will fall short and leave the Senate under socialist control. The best possible outcome comes from keeping the RINOs we can't afford to dump and building toward a time when we can risk those seats, not from voting for a doomed third party candidate who will only ensure a socialist win and continued power for the Obama regime.

As for the other option, that is not the worst thing that can happen, but it is at least for now much worse than the option of attempting to return to constitutional government peacefully via the ballot box.

Looking for a silver lining in the fraudulent election of an ineligible socialist like Obama is even harder than looking for the bright side of the Pearl Harbor attack, but if there is a benefit in the catastrophe of November 2008, that's it.
