“However she chooses to mark the occasion, it will no doubt be more subdued than the tears, dancing, and $10 million promotional campaign that attended her debut on Sept. 5, 2006.”

IIRC, her highest rated show is still on September 7, 2006 when she had Rush on.

CBS should have Monica Crowley do the CBS editorial...err evening news.

“...I wouldn’t say “unrecognizable”. It’s still held by a communist. Just find another communist with skinny, vainy legs and a disproportionately large mouth.”

Don’t think John Cusack is interested in television.

“Couric now sits atop a news division that is in many ways unrecognizable as the one-time home of Walter Cronkite”

...I wouldn’t say “unrecognizable”. It’s still held by a communist. Just find another communist with skinny, vainy legs and a disproportionately large mouth.

...and a smaller moustache.

“so many talented, dedicated people who continue to work hard to maintain the highest journalistic standards that have always been associated with CBS News.”

Ten thousand comedians out of work and she’s trying to be funny.

All these MSM nightly news shows are modern day buggy whips. They need to be put out of their misery.

The viewers are going to their graves. They only people I know that watch the networks are people who have watch them all their lives and just will not change.

The major advertisers for the network evening newscasts are Polident and Depends.

This photo of Colonoscopy Couric is reminiscent of the famous snap caught of lefty Babs Streisand also caught unaware without makeup. Yetch! Liberal harpies don't age well.

Couric's "triumphant interview" of Sarah Palin? Give us a break. Couric is slithering down the slope toward the inescapable sewer of failure and obscurity while Sarah is soaring upward to an ever-promising future with one political success after another in rapid succession.

And, BTW, I'm SO sure that other networks are waiting in line to snap Couric up if she gets the axe.......what total BS propaganda. She wouldn't even be hired by the Shopping Network!

Time for FOX to step up with a well produced and anchored 1/2 hour news summary in the evening to replace the failures at the networks. One reason O’Reilly does so well is time slot. People that work aren’t home early enough and finished with the chores and the kids and the calls for evening news, so it’s the geezer division.

...the CBS News Division was just nominated for more Emmys than the other networks combined...

So called 'prizes' destroyed the MSM.

CBS WAS SIDETRACKED by prizes.

The ONLY prize worth winning is the respect and loyalty of the American people. And THAT CBS threw away... eff 'em.

They already do that. It’s called Special Report with Bret Baier and airs from 6 to 7 PM Eastern.

1/2 hour news summary format is very different from 1 hour in depth format. Think evening news versus McNeil Lehrer news hour.

6 to 7 is not a 1/2 hour news summary. It’s the McNiel / Lehrer “indepth” news hour type format. Different animal.

Looks to me like they’ve got the news covered in that hour. The old format continues to lose viewers, so I’m not sure why Fox would want to imitate that.

I don’t think it’s the format of 1/2 hour that’s broken. It’s that the news is propaganda and slant from the left that has lost them viewers. I would love a trustworthy quick news summary.

Katie au naturel seems more credible to me.

Re: "sepulchral" - some CBS employees command an impressive vocabulary and elocution. "Air Time" uses a large vocabulary and left me feeling that back in the day Paley placed a high value on expressiveness.

A must read! So far, the only media book I’ve read that gave credit to the man who made the CBS trains run on time, Frank Stanton.

I got the impression that Paley was awed by the Talent and liked to rub elbows with it. Sarnoff viewed Talent as chattel and treated them accordingly.

Paley the impresario versus Sarnoff the engineer.
