I don't like to sound the tinfoil hat alarm, but these offshore oil derricks exploding and losing their drilling rig cabling somehow reminds me of the mysterious undersea cable cutting of Internet backbones in the Indian Ocean in 2008:

Wired Magazine: Undersea Cables Cut; 14 Countries Lose Web.

For those who remember, this happened at least five separate times...

Was that cable cutting ever solved?

I have wondered if there is some issue with under water drilling that our science is just not aware of. All the quakes this year seemed to be up ticking as well. I have wondered if it was related to the “drilling” problem.

Of course, planned sabotage come to mind as well.
