Ok I called my sister who lives 50 miles away...
She hadnt heard from our brother but she said...
It was felt over most of NZ
Frosty still night, everyone felt it in their beds...
They felt it at 4.39 AM NZ time..
Sounded VERY LOUD LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN..
she was surprised at the noise...
She said she heard it not from the ground but in the air...
That sounds more like a tornado to me...
Nobody dead or hurt ..
That in itsaelf is a miracle..
Just tried to email my friend who lives in ChristChurch. Bounced back immediately as undeliverable with the cause being “tower...tower...” so my guess is electrical and towers are down.
That’s what our last one sounded like. A train in the distance.
