They do it all the time in foreign countries, put a low figure on the deeds price that is taxed and the rest gets bunged under the table.
That extra cash will have been bunged in some swiss bank account somewhere or in the caymans.
It smells to high heaven.
There’s definitely something wrong here. Taxes are very likely, especially since she was Pomerantz’ widow and had inherited the estate, possibly in the form of a trust, in which case she might have had to pay capital gains taxes that would have been higher than whatever she stood to make. Or maybe there was some other money in a side deal that was funneled off to something else belonging to the widow in a way that would have been below the tax radar.
