Gainesville Church Sparks Global Outrage (Black Panthers Threaten Pastor Over Koran Burning)

Members of the New Black Panther Party showed up in Gainesville Monday to let The Dove World Outreach Center know it is outraged by its plan to burn the Koran.

"I believe in peace but if you aggress me, I am going to fight back," said State Chairman of the New Black Panther Party Mikhail Muhammad.

The church plans to burn the holy book Saturday on the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

The pastor's plan has reached all the way to Afghanistan where Monday hundeds of demonstrators burned a cardboard effigy of the Gainesville pastor, Terry Jones.

"We are not surprised at all that they are responding in that way because that's the nature of Sharia law, that's the nature of violent Islam," said Jones.

"We basically want to warn Pastor Terry Jones that if he burns this Koran, he's going to insight a wrath and chastisement on himself that he will not be able to bare (sic) and all he's going to do is add more division between Muslims and Christians when we should be sitting down at the table to resolve our differences," said Muhammad.

The New Black Panther Party say it will be back in Gainesville Saturday to show the church and the world they won't stand for religious hatred.

I will never understand the liberal mindset. It’s almost as if whatever a Christian is doing is wrong, and whatever a Muslim is doing is right, in their view.

Except that burning copies of the Koran is hardly consistent with what Jesus taught in the Golden Rule ("Do unto others what you would have them do unto you") or what Paul taught when he said, "You're against idolatry, but do you rob temples?" or the example Paul gave on Mars Hill when he remarked to the various religious folk there that he saw that they were very religious, that their poets were right when they said that in God we live and move and have our being and that we are all his offspring. He went on to point out the altar to "the unknown god" and said, "This is the one I want to talk to you about" and then told them about Jesus.

If nothing else this act will send a signal that at least part of the American people won’t roll over for the Muslims like the Europeans have.

Well, I don't believe in book burning, but since it pisses off a racist punk, I'll make an exception just for him.

Burn baby burn!

You are right - it will be no surprise to see an OK Corral scene at the bonfire on Saturday. Maybe they can BBQ a pig along with the books.

Of course 99.9% of Gainesville will be following the Gators vs South Florida game on that day.

Acts 19: 18 Many also of those who had believed kept coming, confessing and disclosing their practices. 19 And many of those who practiced magic brought their books together and began burning them in the sight of everyone; and they counted up the price of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. 20 So the word of the Lord was growing mightily and prevailing. 21 Now after these things were finished, Paul purposed in the Spirit to

The New Testament does include book burnings.

I suppose that if I purchased a Bible and publicly planned to burn it, thousands of Christians would burn me in effigy, and I would get death threats from around the world, and the police would tell me to call if off.

Oh, wait...

Its perfect bait to draw out Muslims, like an ultraviolet lamp on a bug zapper.

Some of these black panthers might want to take care that they don’t get themselves dead. These things have a way of escalating out of control. Some people just don’t respond well to intimidation.

I think this guy needs to go back to second grade and learn some basic spelling.
Based upon his malapropisms I think I can say, without fear of contraception, that he is rather ignorant.< /s>

Petraeus doesn’t need this to happen when our boys are fighting in Afghanistan.

I would not do this but I ask where was the outrage for the “Piss Christ” by Andres Serrano, funded by US tax dollars, or the Virgin Mary covered with elephant dung in the Brooklyn Museum. Forget about burning the American flag - that is free speech as is burning the Koran. It will be interesting to see how the liberal press treats this, because they were all for burning the flag and putting crucifixes into urine! Now we will see their false indignation.

By the way - Moslems were trampling the American flag and I don’t hear any outrage:

Let’s see Bill Maher burn the Koran on his TV show.

He won't because atheists like him, see Islam as a neutralizing force against Christianity, they want Islam to win, so that they believe that then they alone can defeat Islam themselves, but they would be in for a very rude awakening should it ever get to that point.

The pastor's plan has reached all the way to Afghanistan where Monday hundreds of demonstrators burned a cardboard effigy of the Gainesville pastor, Terry Jones.

Burning a 5 dollar copy of the Koran is bad, but Blowing up a priceless -- unrecoverable -- 1700 year old statue of the Buddha is OK?

Islam just overflows with religious tolerance -- NOT!
