Amid flaring political debate about a proposed New York City mosque near Ground Zero, there has been little commotion about the Pentagon's chapel where Muslims can gather in daily prayer near where a hijacked jetliner struck the building Sept. 11, 2001.

While the political debate grows over the propriety of building a mosque near New York's Ground... While the political debate grows over the propriety of building a mosque near New York's Ground Zero, there is no debate at the Pentagon's Ground Zero, where Muslims can gather in daily prayer in a religious chapel located near where a hijacked jetliner struck the building Sept. 11. (ABC News) More PhotosSometimes misidentified as the "Pentagon Mosque," the non-denominational Pentagon Memorial Chapel maintained by the Pentagon Chaplain's Office is where department employees who practice Islam can meet to pray.

Painful memories for those of us that not only care but know exactly who the enemy is...God help our troops.

Is there even a Chapel at the Pentagon?

Several I think. There was one or more before 9/11 and this one was added after it.

I believe that's the plan.

They are not burning it to insult Muslims...

Of course you aren't.

There is a BIG difference between keeping something that was already there and putting something up that wasn’t. If they feel really bad about what happened and their role in it, they would collect the money needed to rebuild the christian church that was destroyed at ground zero. I’m sick of the MSM making certain facts “fit” their arguments and judging by their ratings, I am not alone.

It is not a BS headline. After the attack on the pentagon they should have been forbidden to pray there. There are no moderate muslims and laws should be changed. I dont care if they prayed there since the day it was built...it was muslims that attacked it with intent to kill. Not christians, not jews, not any other faith...muslims. They are all our enemy.

Big difference in most faiths as compared to muslims. As Lt Col West says,”read the koran” they are our enemy and there are no moderate muslims. Whether they were there before or after ...the time has come to kick their murderous asses out

This is such a BS headline. The Pentagon, like virtually every other major command location in the US Armed Forces, provides and maintains an interfaith chapel. There is no “story” here. The chapel existed LONG before the 9/11 attacks, and clearly it will exist and operate LONG after the 9/11 attacks.

True. Nevertheless, the U.S. military does seem to be spending a bit on the erection of mosques overseas. While at the same time, forbidding its chaplains to say the name of Jesus. And disinviting Franklin Graham from a faith event for pointing out the obvious about Islam. And allowing a Muslim at Fort Hood to act on his faith and shoot up the place.

It SHOULD be a story. Namely, why does DoD tolerate a faith that in doctrine and practice REJECTS the principles of liberty that the Koran and Islam proclaim?

How is an Islamic observance within the Pentagon different than a Politburo meeting within the Pentagon?

By the way, what has the DoD done at its installations to detect the next Muslim Fort Hood shooter?

"at the same time? That was my question"

At the same time? Do you understand how an interfaith chapel works? There are regularly scheduled services for all faiths, and in-between the chapel is open to anyone to pray at their leisure. I (a Catholic) have been in the chapel praying next to a Jew on several occasions.

Services, even when scheduled for a particular faith, are open to anyone. So, if you want to attend the Baptist service, the Catholic Mass, the Hasidic Jew or the Muslim services, you'd be welcomed.

One of the dumbest things I have ever seen anyone write. Congratulations.

Are there any other parts of the Bill of Rights you'd like the government to ignore?

I was just thinking to myself, “what was going on with the mosque story about three weeks ago?” Now I know.

It’s not a mosque. It’s a nondenominational prayer room used by members of different faiths.

There will be no “interfaith” prayer room at the Ground Zero mosque.

It’s funny how the most intolerant people on the face of the planet constantly demand and expect tolerance from everyone else.

Read more and yes, they are calling for a community outreach at Ground Zero. This should not be allowed at the Pentagon or Ground Zero or at the site where flight 93 went down or imo anywhere in the USA

When a Muslim emigrates to the US, they are under US law, not Sharia law and if they don’t like it, let em move back to wherever the hell they came from.
