I’m going to scream this from the rooftops, folks. THESE PEOPLE ARE TROLLS!!!!!!! Look at the timing, here. Look at the ‘church’.....the ‘media’......the ‘government response’.

I have never thought the WBC was ‘Christian’. Quite the opposite......with the goal to smear Christians. It happens online (fake websites).....it’s gotta happen IRL.

This is one of many:

I think all of these “people” should be ignored. If they want to burn korans, I’m not going to stop them but that doesn’t mean I agree with them or want them hung around my neck in any way shape or form.

Fred Phelps is one sick puppy.
One of the Phelps kids even tried to go public, once, with charges that Fred Phelps, himself, was VERY abusive to his kids.
Phelps is NOT a “man of God” -— Phelps has done the pro-family movement more harm than anyone else I can think of.

BTW, before Phelps really went off the deep end, I know for a fact that he was asked to defend Operation Rescue protesters.

He refused.

How on Earth can any “Man of God” think that bashing homosexuals by picketing funerals of fallen soldiers is more important than defending pro-life protesters?

“Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness Against Thy Neighbor”

Phelps carried a sign that said “Fag Dole” when Dole launched his Presidential bid!

I watched millions of Muslims take to the streets, burn the American Flag...burn Bush in effigy, video decapitation for us....They stone women, cut off limbs...

The teachings in that book is their justification...Religion??? BS...It's a political movement....

I don’t know if all of the media attention is contrived.

I simply think that the left is looking for ANYTHING else to talk about.... ANY example of stupidity or extremism on our side.

And this “pastor” of 50 people showed up and gave them the show they were looking for.

What a tool.

(not you)

The Westboro Baptists are also self-admitted Marxists and Phelps used to work closely with Al Gore.

Oh please, it's a stupid little church, who cares? it should even be a fart in a windstorm, but Obama and Petraeus have made it a big deal, they're loving this. But we should never compromise our Constitutional freedoms for anyone, especially Muslims.

Just as nobody here who was appalled at what the government did at Waco was a fan of David Koresh.

Phelps is a big DEM!!!

That is the big secret that the media won’t report. Always was a DEM, always will be a DEM. He hates America, he’s an arrogant SOB and if he didn’t have a problem with homosexuals, he would still be in the DEM inner circles.

He won’t defend anti abortion protesters, he’s on the other side, always has been.

He is a left winger, used to be buddies with Gore.

They’re using our constitutional freedoms against us.

I think you really need to go back and reread what you just wrote. Then when you get finished go and look up the 1st Amendment.

I vehemently disagree with the phelps gang but they are citizens and have the same rights as you or I whether you like it or not.

The best solution is to simply ignore them and not feed their need of attention.

Here is what raised red flags for me.

In our society and culture, burning of books never is associated with opposition (like flag burning), its common association is with powers that be hiding knowledge or suppressing information. No one in our culture usually thinks “I am going to oppose that religion or enemy so I will burn his books”. Instead, book burnings archetypal associations are of 1984 and Fahrenheit 451.

Book burnings and bannings also don’t result in rallying enemies, what it does is create a ‘forbidden knowledge’ that people usually seek out. In other words, for Islam, it would draw people to it to find out what the ‘forbidden knowledge’ is.. It is almost a publicity stunt.

Maybe I’m over-thinking it.. but this is the first thing that ran through my head..

While in the eyes of the law, the pastor who plans to do this Koran burning has the legal right, on the moral side of the question, should he do it?

I do know the answer.

Thankfully the Patriot Guard provide support to military families who otherwise would be at the mercy of these vermin. A few hundred patriots on motorcycles make an effective barrier so these families can bury their loved ones in some semblance of peace.

[And yes, if my husband died I would be glad if Westboro would come and hold their signs and sing at his funeral. Many people would be shocked, but they might be shocked into a fear of God and a decision for Christ. How will they know if someone does not tell them?]

Fran, honey, I know it's not easy but I think you need to set that crack pipe down and give it a rest for a while.

Their “motive”?

Clearly they have the same motive as the mohammed cartoonist....to exercise their right to freedom of expression....

If it shakes the “moderate muslims” out of the jihad tree...more power to them...

They are putting themselves in harms way to illustrate that radical islam isnt peaceful or non violent...it's a death cult that will murder, extort, and riot...in the name of allah...*spits*...and that so called “moderates” are in fact a minority in Islam...

There is no moral equivalency between Christianity and Islam....and actions like this prove it...

I’m not celebrating anything, other than the fact that we have freedoms in this country to express our opinions no matter how unpopular they may be.

I could care less about this stupid church. And I care even less that somebody a half a world away might be offended by it.

Why is this not being protested about in America?

Why would anyone in the US protest what goes on in another country? As soon as you walk across the US border, your rights as an American citizen are gone and only exist if the country you are in chooses to give them to you.

If you don't like how they treat Christians in certain countries, don't ever go there.

Other than that, there isn't much we should do. It isn't our right to demand that other nations change any more than it's their right to demand that we change.

That’s a good point, Crim. I TOTALLY agree that ‘moderate’ Muslims should speak out without fear. I’m just questioning the timing and their support of the Westboro Baptist Church.....who I’ve always suspected as a left-wing troll group......to make Christianity look bad.

I don't need to go back and reread anything. I know what I said; I know what the 1st amendment says. But speech, when it is from an enemy (domestic or foreign), & when it 'incites' is not guaranteed (the 'yelling fire' in a theatre scenario). We have people taking these lunatics seriously.

The best solution is to simply ignore them and not feed their need of attention.

Yes, ignoring has worked so well through the years /heavy sarcasm. The great thing about America is that we can disagree and you are exercising that right and that's wonderful. But ignoring is not the answer. The "live and let live" philosophy sounds wonderful but is one of the reasons we are headed for the cliff.
