Evangelicals and Glenn Beck
http://www.onenewsnow.com/Perspectives/Default.aspx?id=1144072 ^

Editor's note: This column was originally posted before the "Restoring Honor" rally in Washington, DC, on August 28, 2010] Some has been said and written about evangelicals "compromising" by sharing the stage this weekend at Glenn Beck's Friday night Kennedy Center event (for approximately 2,000 pastors and Christian leaders) and being seated on the platform (nearly 200 seats) of the Lincoln Memorial during the "Restoring Honor" Rally on Saturday, August 28. This all stems from the fact of Beck's Mormon faith. snip

Since they have no truth, and history is not on their side, they resort constantly to ad hominem attacks. He has withstood staggering scrutiny, disdain and attacks. Based on all I know about him, I am proud to stand with him at the Restoring Honor Rally this weekend. Glenn does not see that this about him, because it is not. It is about Restoring Honor. That is the issue. It is much bigger than Glenn Beck and he knows it. And God knows, we need it.

You do Glenn a major dishonor with ad hom assertions like this one: “Since they have no truth, and history is not on their side, they resort constantly to ad hominem attacks.”

You might want to insert that the second paragraph of your above post was addressed to ‘The Left’ in America, with regard to our Amewrican principles. Just a thought, if you want to actually be honest rather than cherry picking to use in the defense of Moronism bilge.

Dr. Jim Garlow is Chairman of Renewing American Leadership and senior pastor of Skyline Wesleyan Church in San Diego, CA. He is heard daily on over 800 radio outlets nationwide. He founded and led the California Pastors Rapid Response Team, a group of several thousand pastors that was instrumental in the campaign to enact Proposition 8.

From article

I still believe that. Glenn Beck is being used by God – mightily. The left loves to slam him and do so viscerally and often with vulgarities. Glenn is not perfect. (For the record, neither are you or I.) But his expose on America's sins is stellar. I am convinced his motives are pure. His research department is profoundly skilled, checking footnotes down to the last detail. The left cannot "get" him – at least, not at this point. They have tried. Since they have no truth, and history is not on their side, they resort constantly to ad hominem attacks. He has withstood staggering scrutiny, disdain and attacks.

And i happen to be very much in agreement with Jim on the issues of protecting marriage, the vast differences of LDS religious doctrines and Evangelical beliefs, and our nation in need of unity against the godless Left. What was your expectation when you reposted this fine essay?

The left wants to divide and conquer us however they can. Let me be a little rational here. It’s not like the Mormon Church has some special power to convert people to their faith. Most people, and I am one of them, can critically make a choice about what I do or not believe to be true. Glenn Beck does mention a great deal of true things. Whether or not I am of his faith is another issue altogether. The real point is, are people just somehow all that gullible? No, they’re not. I am probably preaching to the choir here, and perhaps I am preaching to someone who is a Mormon here as well, but my point is, I see a great deal of downgrading people in the arguments about the doctrines. Well, after attending multiple churches I can tell you that I am perfectly capable of filtering my beliefs out of what I hear, a great deal of people are capable of doing this. If Glenn Beck made some reference to his religious belief, so ____ what?!!! It’s not like any of us will magically accept it as truth when we hear it. A lot of people have it wrong about who they should be afraid of: A Mormon named Harry Reid who is Senate Majority Leader and Obama’s mouthpiece, who has been re-elected who knows how many times, or a newscaster who’s income and profits depends almost entirely on selling what nonMormons want to read or hear? IMO, Im more concerned about Harry Reid getting voted out of office, he’s been sitting in his Senate Chair far too long.

However not all the invited actually went..

They discerned that all was not right with the events and they refused to go...

now several of the pastors and Christian leaders who went are confessing that they misswe3d god anbd have repented for ever going..

Land of the SBC ???

Hes a liberal...an illegal alien lover..

Ive seen his name befrore ..

hes small fry in the Kingdom of God...

Hes no leasder...

a man of god doesa not compromise to get along with other men...

A man of God stands with God EVERY TIME..regardless of who is or is not with him...

I’ll tell you who those 2000 pastors and Christian leaders were...

many of them were just regular folk and not in leadership...

Thats why its 2 weeks later and I still dont have a list oof their names...

There are few names..anyone who wanted to go...went...

Its a shame to see John Hagee drink the Kool Ade though...

Let us not sell the Holy Spirit short ... individuals attended that rally, and it is in the individual heart/soul that God works to bring an awakening. When Glenn challenged folks to get down on their knees and pray for the next five plus weeks, ith is there, on their knees in prayer that they may hear that still small voice Who will not lie to them nor forsake them, and Whom it is Who will bring them to repentence if it comes. Surely We The People have much to repent of, such as tolerating evil far too long in our nation. The blood of innocent slaughtered children cries out for we the people to stop this evil. Our grand children are growing up in a nation far more infected with sexual degeneracy than our children grew to adulthood in. We the people must repent of this tolerance for evil in our midst. God’s Spirit can work with a people on their knees before Him. THAt is what I truly believe Glenn was seeking to awaken in US.

Did you watch the rally? What was said during the rally that you disagree with?
Beck (if that’s who you’re speaking of) is not a liberal, he is conservative, he is not a newscaster, he is a commentator, what has he said that makes you believe that he is an illegal alien lover? Why would a christian need to repent of attending the rally and to which repenters do you refer?

Richard Land, a Baptist pastor..objected to the deportation of illegal aliens..

But meanwhile getting back to Beck..

Beck is for seme sex marriage..

But going back to his religious leanings..

On his show Sept 2 Beck said “We need a Jesus or a Budda”

“This weekend is a God event, not a Christian event” (Glenn Beck, at the end of his TV show, August 25, 2010)

Hitler used the Christian church also..

In Germany pastors thought God had sent Hitler.

The church in Germany rejected Biblical truth and went after Hitler..

On August 30, 1933 Pastor Julius Lutherser said,

“Christ has come to us through Hitler. Though his honesty, his faith, and his idealism. The redeemer found us. We know today the savior has come. We have only one task, be German, not Christian”

For a start the mormonismn that Glenn Beck weaved into his speeches..

For another was he holding the hand of the Islamic Imam on his stage for patriotism, politics or spiritual comradeship ???

Were we looking at heresy on the part of Beck or just ignorance ???

________________________________________________

In Christianity there is no revival and “getting back to God” without repentance...

The only way Biblical to get to God is through repentance for past sins...

If not then its just a lot of Oprah Kumbyah

Oh and speaking of Oprah...

Oprah pushes that book called The Secret...

and Beck was quoting from The Secret at his event...
