If you live in a northern state; you can drive to Canada and bring back one toilet per trip. So, make a couple trips over a week and you can ‘fix’ that problem too.
If you live a ways away, like I do, all you can do is buy the best flushing toilet you can find.
What is taking so long to get the LED’s on the market? Soros have a big stake in CFL’s and they are waiting for him to turn a profit?
The Bushes were just as much a bunch of elitist “ruling class” as any democrat politicians are.
Time to clean house on these people.
I am much closer to Mehico so maybe they have a model down there. Unfortunately, I might also come with a cute little green box that surrounds it.
How long before idiots blame that on the “free market” and capitalism?
Fixed.
By making rules that favor cfls, they are slowing the development of led lights. CFLs will be the preferred light because of the government actions, and leds will be a long time coming. China will ramp up cfl production as we ramp down incan use, and the led will be shunted aside.
“Unfortunately, there are applications where having incandescent heat is a must. Anyone who has raised animals knows that a light in an incubator is a great source of heat.”
I guess we’ll have to convert the kids’ EZ Bake Ovens to microwaves.
Wal-Mart has LED bulbs in their Canadian stores- the price is slightly higher than CFLs but not unreasonable.
Now I add to my incandescent stash every time there is a sale. My heirs can always sell them on eBay.
No, not OBSOLETE...ILLEGAL!!! I’ve got real light bulbs squirreled away all over the house, thanks to Big Brother and spineless republicans.
I read somewhere that CFLs will not work with dimmer switches. The way they’re constructed, their light tends to be all or nothing.
And should you drop one of the new CL bulb's, you have to call in a haz-mat crew to clean-up the toxic gas residue...
Sorry, Mr. Doyle... you weren't paying attention: GE happily became partners with the Big Government thinking they could ride cap & tax to profitable heights... So you would have to say that you were sold out by both at the same time and for the same reasons -- they're both greedy.
These so called “green” light bulbs are anything but. First they do NOT have anywhere near their advertised life. I’ve been using them for several years kind of as an experiment, and I’ve had a number of failures in less time than the old incandescents would fail in the same fixtures. Second, they don’t put out as much light as advertised (as measured by my eyes.) Swapping a 100W incandescent and a 100W equivalent compact fluorescent in the same fixture or in two identical fixtures side by side and you’ll see that the CF is not as bright. Third, their manufacturing process uses a lot more energy than the old style bulbs. Fourth, they contain mercury - a toxic substance that is vastly overfeared, but a toxic substance nevertheless. Finally their life is dependent on their position and how well the fixture is cooled. Base up or base sideways in a sealed fixture burns them out pretty quickly. Replacing fixtures just to accomodate bulbs is an added expense. So in this case “green” is bullsh!t brown, and another fraud perpetrated on the American public like ethanol as a motor fuel.
First they came for the light bulbs, but I did not stand up because I was not a light bulb...
<And in my attic, there is my “stash” of REAL light bulbs. It is surprisingly not a large amount.
I’m thinking the same thing. Even if I only plan for 10 years out, that’s really not that many light bulbs to store.
Anybody know if the long florescent lights such as are used in kitchen overhead lights are on the endangered species list?
The government can forget people calling in hazmat teams if the new lights break. Your average citizen is going to sweep ‘em up, toss ‘em in the trashcan, and not think twice about it.
I am headed to Wallyworld at lunch to stock up on this little jewels. Who knows, I may be able to sell them along with my Y2K rations on E-Bay. No wait, food will be more important than cash in the Brave New World so I had better hang onto the peanut butter, beets, and lima beans.
Obviously
but I bet it is with 1/4th the light as well.
You lose.
