That’s not the point. But FRiend, this is a question begger: what do you consider art, either high or low?

You may simply be content with Taylor Swift, and that is fine. Gaga is playing on an entirely different playing field.

Read Marshall McLuhan...medium and message and the digital world, these are concepts she is toying with as well as our preoccupation with fame and celebrity and pornography. She is making fun of all of it. She’s quite masterful. V’s wife.

I went to the website and it only gave ancerpt. It did not post the entire article.

Your arguments and descriptions of ‘art’ and such are basically postmodern mans’ attempts to rationalize perversion as ‘art’ because it’s cool and clever and nobody’s done it before. It’s really sad because people are so empty and bored that the only thing that captures their attention is a freak pushing the extreme envelope but not really having the talent ot make it without doing all the extra extreme crap to get noticed.

I will throw a begging question back to you. If you say what Gaga does is ‘art’, what passes as perversion and indecent to you?

No, the video producers do not accomplish their tasks - there work may earn money, but that doesn’t make it any better than prostitution or pornography - unless you want to take the position that those are perfectly acceptable “professions” as well.

Did you watch the video of her performing live with just a keyboard? She is a classically trained pianist and is a decent pop composer and sings well. Watch it. What do I consider perverse. I admit, media has changed so much that today we are all hardened to overly sexualized imagery. That seems unchanging. I watch Brothers and Sisters and watching to gay men kiss is pretty excruciating for me. I object to that. But I don’t see her doing that. There was one number in a vid done with Beyonce that was a little suggestive lesbian stuff. But, for instance, while I read the Girl with the Dragon tatto, and found it interesting, the sado masochism was too much for me. I don’t watch porn, but I do see why men would like to look at naked women such those in Playboy. I see Gaga as toying with all the luridness out there. Not actually being the luridness but mocking it. She’s making fun of Madonna, don’t you get it?

I like Mad Men, and books like End of the Affair by Graham Greene.

I am a Christian, and in my personal life try to keep perversion to a minimum. Our dogs cleaning their private parts is about as excitingly perverse as it gets around here. V’s wife.

I truly hardly believe anyone performs live anymore. If you ever listen to her “Poker Face” song, the refrain just kills me. She sang the (can’t read my....poker face” line once, then they retracked it again, and used it for every refrain of the entire song. It’s identical. Identical inflections and timing and emphasis.

What my earlier point was is that she cannot make it without all the extreme sexualized and bizarre crap. Whatever talent she has on it’s own would not get her where she is now. There are far more talented musicians and singers than her. But they are not doing the other garbage she is. If there was ever a poster child for attention whore it’s her.

There was a sodomite subculture in the 16th century?

Do you think not? Perhaps it was very out, but I doubt it. V’s wife.

She does have talent. I’m not fond of that type of music, but she can actually sing and play the piano.
