NRSC Will Not Support O'Donnell [Update: NRSC now says it will support O'Donnell]

Full statement by John Cornyn, head of the NRSC:

“Let there be no mistake: The National Republican Senatorial Committee – and I personally as the committee's chairman – strongly stand by all of our Republican nominees, including Christine O'Donnell in Delaware.

“I reached out to Christine this morning, and as I have conveyed to all of our nominees, I offered her my personal congratulations and let her know that she has our support. This support includes a check for $42,000 – the maximum allowable donation that we have provided to all of our nominees – which the NRSC will send to her campaign today.

“We remain committed to holding Democrat nominee New Castle County Executive Chris Coons accountable this November, as we inform voters about his record of driving his county to the brink of bankruptcy and supporting his party's reckless spending policies in Washington.

“In the weeks ahead, we will decide where to best allocate additional financial resources among the large number of competitive races at stake this November. While it's not in Republicans' interest to advertise our spending strategy to our opponents, it's worth noting that just yesterday, the NRSC's first independent expenditure ad aired in support of Dr. Rand Paul's campaign in Kentucky, where we firmly believe that he will win in November.

“It remains to be seen whether national Democrats will provide a similar level of support for many of their nominees, including in key battleground states like Indiana, Ohio, Florida, Arkansas, Illinois, and New Hampshire, among others. The Democrats' indecision reflects the fact that Republicans are on offense in at least 12 Democrat-held states and we are leading in the polls in seven of those 12 states.

“Finally, on the matter of the New Hampshire Senate race, while the results remain outstanding, we continue to monitor the Republican primary race, and we stand ready to fully support whichever candidate is chosen as the nominee.”

Okay, their story is that you need a moderate repub to win in the northeast. If true, how did she win? It was the people of Delaware that voted, so uh.... wouldn’t they have voted for the RINO if that was true? BTW Anyone see Karl Rove on Hannity? He was spewing the RINO mantra.

In addition to replacing RINOs in office, we also have to replace them in the party power structure. Methodically, relentlessly, and without remorse.

A national boycott of the NRSC wouldn’t be a bad place to start.

What is a ‘Brett Baer’? And why should I care what a ‘Brett Baer’ says?

Ping to your attention. You wanted to know where to cast your support. O’Donnell just defeated a horrible RINO, one of the Gang of Eight who voted for Cap and Tax and all sorts of other awful, awful legislation, who thought it was a noble act to “walk across the aisle” and consort with the enemy.

Just for your consideration. That’s all.

I was tempted to use a vulgar term . . .

In my world there cannot be too many vulgar terms for the ruling class and their sycophants in the media.

I’m on the NRSC site right now, there is no mention at all of Castle, O’Donnell or the Delaware Primary.

What is Rush going to say in the morning?

You know he has been teasing us for eon's to name names as to who are the RINO's that have mucked it up what he thinks of them.

Tomorrow could be the day when El-Rushbo tells them off once and for all!

Exactly . It’s great to see the power psychics are out in full force . So know that we know the outcome why do anything . She beat the geezer , get used to it . Only she decides if she wins or loses . Back to your tarot cards chumps .

After the rant by Rove on Hannity I read about, and now this, I’m convinced the depth of the entrenchment of the Left within the GOP has been grossly underestimated.

Exactly. The socialists didn't limit their subversion to one party.

You are not making sense - shouldn’t donate to O’Donnell and other conservative candidates they aren’t supporting so they will complain about not being supported to NRSC? That’s what they are already doing and they know it - why would not donating to the candidates that already know the NRSC is not supporting them send a message to NRSC? If anything it would only confirm their position.

In this case it is a strategic decision on where to use resources and they don’t think they have a shot at winning this and it would be a waste of money - otherwise, why would they strongly backing Rand Paul in KY, Joe Miller in AK, Sharron Angle in NV, Marco Rubio in FL, etc. after they won their primaries even though they weren’t the initial party-backed candidates? If polls were to come out showing O’Donnell stronger than they are now and that she is, in fact, able to win the seat, they might reconsider their position...but in the most recent polls she is down considerably against the Democrat.

In any event...we know the NRSC was never with her to begin with, but the Our Country Deserves Better PAC / TeaPartyExpress.org was who jumped in and pushed her over the top. Will they continue immediately the offensive to get her elected? They will need to get on the air immediately to define Christine O’Donnell in a positive light consistently through election day, and then define Coons as the out of touch liberal that he is before he and the Democrats have the chance to define him and negatively define O’Donnell. Or will they simply back off with a “yay! We won the primary!” and leave her high and dry going into the general? If they do - that would really be something to get angry about. They are winning primaries - now they better support all of these candidates they have gotten onto the general election ballot consistently and with everything they have going into the general election. Their reduced activity in Nevada after that primary (they’ve run a couple of ads...but not a sustained offensive from what I’ve seen reported) is a great cause for concern - we need Sharron Angle in the Senate for more than one reason - for both her, and the fact that having her in there means Harry Reid would no longer be there.

"NRSC Will Not Support O'Donnell In General Election"

So, the NRSC is taking all of it's toys and going home in a snit?

-- TEA Party should sacrifice McCain as a tit-for-tat IF it can be determined that GOP will still have a majority in the Senate. --

Hell yes.

Probably worth throwing the race even if the GOP holds less than a majority, as it could still block legislation with 41 firm "NO" votes.

What is Rush going to say in the morning?

He ain’t gonna like it

My major problem withy the Republican party is that they don’t know how to act as winners. The Democrats act as winners even when they lose.....we win houses of congress, the presidency and then act like Democrats....we think we have to capitulate to the Dems to “keep them happy”.....I don’t want a moderate, that means he/she can’t make up their mind.....I want a staunch conservative who pulls no punches......ever
