NRSC Will Not Support O'Donnell [Update: NRSC now says it will support O'Donnell]

Full statement by John Cornyn, head of the NRSC:

“Let there be no mistake: The National Republican Senatorial Committee – and I personally as the committee's chairman – strongly stand by all of our Republican nominees, including Christine O'Donnell in Delaware.

“I reached out to Christine this morning, and as I have conveyed to all of our nominees, I offered her my personal congratulations and let her know that she has our support. This support includes a check for $42,000 – the maximum allowable donation that we have provided to all of our nominees – which the NRSC will send to her campaign today.

“We remain committed to holding Democrat nominee New Castle County Executive Chris Coons accountable this November, as we inform voters about his record of driving his county to the brink of bankruptcy and supporting his party's reckless spending policies in Washington.

“In the weeks ahead, we will decide where to best allocate additional financial resources among the large number of competitive races at stake this November. While it's not in Republicans' interest to advertise our spending strategy to our opponents, it's worth noting that just yesterday, the NRSC's first independent expenditure ad aired in support of Dr. Rand Paul's campaign in Kentucky, where we firmly believe that he will win in November.

“It remains to be seen whether national Democrats will provide a similar level of support for many of their nominees, including in key battleground states like Indiana, Ohio, Florida, Arkansas, Illinois, and New Hampshire, among others. The Democrats' indecision reflects the fact that Republicans are on offense in at least 12 Democrat-held states and we are leading in the polls in seven of those 12 states.

“Finally, on the matter of the New Hampshire Senate race, while the results remain outstanding, we continue to monitor the Republican primary race, and we stand ready to fully support whichever candidate is chosen as the nominee.”

Proves why I already stopped giving to them.

DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO A NATIONAL PARTY. GIVE IT TO INDIVIDUAL CANDIDATES. THEY WILL NOT CHOOSE OUR CANDIDATES FOR US!!!

“In this case it is a strategic decision on where to use resources”

Baloney,, that doesn’t explain announcing it as she gave her victory speech. The only strategic decision they made was to harm her all they could.

This is beyond ridiculous. The party shouldn’t pick favorites in the primary to start with, but once the electorate has spoken they have to get behind the nominee. This seems to be a growing trend for the GOP and could be the death of the party.

I am sure the NRSC will contact me for money soon and I will dutifully decline to give them anything as long as they hold this view.

Shut them down!!

Damn straight, old friend. Damn straight.

Well some good has come from this. The NRSC has dropped their masks and exposed themselves for all of us to see. We really should thank them for that. From this day forward they have no excuse.

The people of the Great State of Delaware have made their choice loud and clear. This one wasn't even close. Castle and his RINO enablers got their political butt-cheeks taped together by, O'Donnell, Governor Palin and the TEA Party.

And I'm sitting here in my living room laughing my a** off over it.

The NRSC is made up of the incumbent GOP Senators. Who makes up the caucus will make up the face of the NRSC. Therefore, it would appear to be critical to get folks like Sharron Angle, Joe Miller, etc. elected...although NRSC is actually supporting them after they won and not O’Donnell (assuming this report turns out to be accurate). I’ll bet they end up giving her a little bit of money as a token gesture.

All these years they told us to hold our noses and support their choices like Snowe and Specter. For the good of the party. Now its their turn. For the good of the party.

We need to look at the leadership of the NRSC and let them know that their days are numbered, They should be targeted and brutally taken down in the next election.

““The Delaware result is also a major blow to Republicans’ hopes of winning back the Senate majority”

Oh, just wait until they see how many people from across the country are gonna get behind O’Donnell!!!!!

The Facebook pages of both the NRSC and the RNC are flooding with very angry comments. Here’s another one I just posted:

“HOW DARE YOU TURN AWAY FROM O’DONNELL!!!!!! NATIONAL REPUBLICAN PARTY LEADERSHIP, YOU ARE SPITTING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE IN THE FACE!!!!!! DON’T YOU GET IT???? WE, THE PEOPLE, ARE SICK OF YOU PRE-ANOINTING CANDIDATES, HAVING YOUR “FAVORITES” AND HAVING YOUR LITTLE COUNTRY CLUB! WELL, GUESS WHAT? THE COUNTRY CLUB IS CANCELED; YOU’RE LOSING THE BATTLE AND WE SHALL WIN! YOU REFUSE TO STAND FOR FREEDOM, YOU REFUSE TO STAND FOR OUR COUNTRY, WE HAVE HAD IT!!!!!!! GET OUT OF WASHINGTON, GET OUT OF THE LEADERSHIP OF OUR PARTY!!!!!!!

YOU’VE FAILED! GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!!!! WE ARE SICK OF YOU PEOPLE!!!!!!! WE ARE READY FOR REAL CHANGE!!!!!!!! YOU HAVE REALLY TICKED OFF A LOT OF PEOPLE TONIGHT!!!!! YOUR DONATIONS (WELL, WHATEVER YOU HAD LEFT) JUST FLUSHED DOWN THE TOILET!!!!!! YOUR BEHAVIOR IS DISGUSTING, DESPICABLE AND UN-AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!”

If true, this is doubling-down on absolute cluelessness.

Hey, has the RNC been re-imbursed by Charley Crist or Arlen Specter for the money they gave to these non-Republicans?

Hell hath no fury like a RINO scorned.

Let's put RINO to bed, OK?

It's conservatives who are REPUBLICANS IN NAME ONLY. Republicans are the same country-club, Chamber of Commerce, and now Neocon power seekers they've always been. It has never been a conservative party. They treated Goldwater and Reaganites the way they treat O'Donnell and the Pauls. When I hear "Rino", I hear the naiveite of my "Let Reagan be Reagan!" youth.

You know, even though I don’t live in DE and really had no dog in the fight tonight I was somewhat on the fence. Part of me bought into supporting Castle because it’s very likely he would win the seat pretty easily and that would ensure a Republican Senate majority providing we got the other 9. Then again, O’Donnell espouses true conservative ideals even though she has some ‘issues.’

After hearing Karl Rove and Cornyn and the NRSC showing their asses tonight I’m convinced the right candidate won. No doubt O’Donnell faces a tough race with the odds stacked against her and in a normal election year she would likely be DOA but this is not a normal election year people.

I think she can win *if* the repubs will get behind her, hell it’s not like we don’t have other republican incumbents with questionable backgrounds serving now.

My reaction is to concede the state.

Maybe in a normal election year, that might be a valid conclusion, but this is not a normal year. Remember health care, cap & trade, nationalizing GM, Taking over the student loan business, stimulus I, II, III. There are many dems and independents who didn’t vote today that are waiting for their chance to overthrow the ruling class.
