Cowardly Republican Senate Aides Begin Attacking Jim DeMint
RedState ^ | September 16, 2010 | Erick Erickson

Posted on 09/16/2010 6:25:15 PM PDT by Tolerance Sucks Rocks

It has begun. Republican Senate aides who desperately want the majority back so they can add an extra zero to their eventual K-Street salary package once they stop prostituting themselves to lobbyists and instead become lobbyists prostituting themselves to squishy Republicans are attacking Jim DeMint.

In addition to their own self-interest, you can be sure they are expressing their bosses’ frustrations.

Now, you and I both know that Jim DeMint swooping in at the last minute to endorse Christine O’Donnell had as much to do with her victory as a butterfly flapping its wings in China 340 years ago last Monday. But this is the establisment’s chance. They hate that DeMint is so much more effective. They hate that he is liked so much more.

Cowardly Senate aides who refuse to go on record with their names are saying DeMint will be punished. As if they can do anything to him. It’s not like he’s going to be thrown out of leadership. Good grief.

In any event, the knives are out for Jim DeMint among his colleagues for his efforts to elect Republicans who remember what Republicans stand for.

If you want to stand up for Jim DeMint there is one thing you can do above all other things: Help him Take Back America.

They mostly hate that, right now, DeMint is a money-raising tornado. And they think it's at THEIR expense. How stupid do these morons have to be to fail to realize that the money DeMint and other truly conservative candidates like Christine O'Donnell are raising is NEW money that they never would have seen anyway?

You go all RINO you will be retired via a primary.

Why would you do that when you have demonstrated that it is only a matter of very short time when you will take over one of the two major parties?

What they ultimately fear is DeMint as Senate Majority Leader. I can thing of very few committee chairs that would go to those who are now the ranking minority member.

Then you would have fifteen people instead of eight -- a recipe for continued Democrat dominance and the certain death of freedom. We don't need to "screw" the Stupid Party -- we must take it back! Nevada and Delaware are solid examples of how to do it.

Actually, though the endorsement was disingenuous, it actually did contribute to her win. It added immensely to the sense of momentum that O'Donnell was building. The rapid fire 1, 2, 3, of the Tea Party Express, Sarah Palin & Jim DeMint endorsements did great deal to strengthen the resolve of Christine's army of volunteers.

I said it earlier today, the only connection the establishment has to anyone even close to the TEA Party movement is Jim DeMint. The beltway elites and their minions will focus all of their venom on him.

They are very afraid and they should be.

Christine is up to $1.42 million. It is fascinating to watch. Sean and Rush and Levin are holding back. They want to see her perform on the campaign, but in the end they will make sure she has enough money. They can send a ton of people to her website in a few minutes if they want to.

If her donations fall to 10% of the present level, she will have "only" about $5 million to spend on this election.

They are like the eunuchs in dynastic china who held all the real power. These senate aides don’t have as much power but they can certainly subtly suggest that someone may pee in his coffee or spit on his food. They can claim sexual harassment. They are neuters no better than the corrupt eunuchs.

I agree that the GOP is often the Stupid Party... but please notice that the SMART people this year (Miller, et al) are winning CONTROL of the party in a courageous attempt to TAKE BACK that party.

Please note they are NOT engaging in the idiotic fantasy of a 3rd party, which in your case seems to be triggered because a few whiny Repub aids in Washington don't want their boat rocked.

Try to stay on the same page with the Revolution, Extremely. This a revolution to TAKE BACK the GOP, and TAKE BACK America.

No 3rd party; no other place else to go.

Yes, I really like DeMint... BUT, after his meeting with Greta on FOX, I have to say that he is disingenuous. If he was really a decent fellow, he would at least admit that his group was and had problems with controversial decisions. Oh well, honesty and integrity is unlikely in my lifetime (as it involves politics)...

Seems like politics as usual to me... too bad! Santorium does seem more authentic to me...

Perhaps “self serving.” If the endorsement was based purely on conviction, it would have come early enough to have provided some fund raising potential. I’m a huge fan of DeMint. But I believe he sensed the late breaking tidal wave in Delaware & wanted to be a part of it. Call me cynical, but I believe both Palin & DeMint are at least considering a presidential run. If Christine wins in November, she will be a conservative superstar and her support would be helpful. After Palin endorsed, DeMint was compelled to do likewise.

IMO these committee staff, aides and Congressional advisers/staff are a major problem. They write legislation, give summaries to their “bosses” probably skewed toward their bias (elected Congressmen in many cases don’t read anything but their staff written opinions) - in other words these unelected persons are running the legislative branch of government.

While DeMint is a good conservative, the media venom will be directed at the #1 conservative, Sarah Palin. But, temporaily they will address their attacks at the Christine masturbation comments. DeMint diminshed his credibility on Greta tonite by hawking Mith as a good candidate.

It’s a shame though, isn’t it? Many years ago (maybe too long to remember), we use to not only trust our politicians, but rely on them for information. What a turn about these days...

Is this a detriment - maybe due to the internet, or is it a blessing? Remember that we now have little or no support for any politician these days... Seems like they all are dishonest hacks now...

I'm sorry...Republican Senate AIDES? Is that what the article said? AIDES, can somebody define aides? These are people who volunteer, intern? People who are paid excessive dollars for their influence in various whatever? Or maybe they are paid excessive or no dollars for their fetching of coffee and shined shoes? Or we have a new political class which includes Aides. If so, I'd like someone to send me a new diagram, please.

Otherwise, I'll leave it at DeMint's Aide can beat up your aide.

We did trust our politicians. I don’t think it is a bad thing that they are exposed for what they are.

But being a history buff, things are no different today, politically, than they ever have been. Dating back to the Roman Empire and before.

It’s not a bad thing that we are aware. Maybe we can try to keep them in check. (I’m such a dreamer).

I wasn’t talking about the media, I was talking about the republican elites. They may not like Sarah Palin, but they don’t have any connection to her. Jim DeMint is on the hot seat because he is the only one who has to deal with these clowns every single day. DeMint is their only connection to the TEA Party movement at all. So they focus their anger on him. They will do what they can to try to control him.

Sarah Palin gets hits but the beltway elites don’t have to go to work with her every day.

I guess Mitt is the RINO Elite/DeMint compromise. Mitt and his elite friends foolishly think Mitt can corral the TEA Party movement into supporting him by getting DeMint to say he’s OK. Mitt will learn no one person directs the TEA Party (except maybe Sarah), and the TEA party will support whomever they chose. Romneycare need not apply.
