U.S. Representative Anthony Weiner (D-NY) is opening an investigation into TV gold dealers... and cites hosts like Glenn Beck who he says "drive a false narrative."
Specifically, Weiner seems to be targeting Goldline, which is a regular sponsor of Beck's TV show, radio program, and web properties.
A press release announcing the investigation states:
Goldline employs several conservative pundits to act as shills for its' precious metal business, including Glenn Beck, Mike Huckabee, Laura Ingraham, and Fred Thompson. By drumming up public fears during financially uncertain times, conservative pundits are able to drive a false narrative...
Glenn Beck for example has dedicated entire segments of his program to explaining why the U.S. money supply is destined for hyperinflation with Barack Obama as president. He will often promote the purchase of gold as the only safe investment alternative for consumers who want to safeguard their livelihoods. When the show cuts to commercial break, viewers are treated to an advertisement from Goldline.

Even our dear leader recently acknowledged that conservative concerns about government debt levels are legitimate. Perhaps they should invite our dear leader to explain his concerns.

This is true fascism. Weiner and Waxmam et. al. should be paraded on a rail through the townsquare and their houses burnt down.

OK. Call him to testify. I double dare you. He will make the case that gold is the only safe investment because of the left’s reckless spending policies. It will be a media circus. Hoist them on their own petards.

This seems to be a trend under Obama. I remember last year they went after Zicam, who also happens to advertise big on conservative talk radio. The message is clear, if a company decides to invest a lot of advertising dollars in conservative talk radio they better be ready for an anal probe by every government department.

He will often promote the purchase of gold as the only safe investment alternative for consumers who want to safeguard their livelihoods. That is a bald faced lie, he does not promote gold as an investment, he calls it a generational insurance policy. Gold is an insurance policy against losses in the stock market, inflation, hyper-inflation, deflation...whatever comes. It is stable..... If you are looking to make money, go elsewhere than gold, if you want to hedge your bets against nearly all catastrophes...think about gold.
