Christine O'Donnell: 'I Dabbled in Witchcraft'
ABC news ^ | September 18 2010 | RYAN CREED

Fresh off her victory in Delaware, GOP U.S. Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell is riding a wave of campaign cash but also internet infamy, thanks in part to her controversial statements -- most notably on masturbation -- in the late 1990s on Bill Maher's "Politically Incorrect." Christine O'Donnell says one of her first dates occurred on a satanic altar.

On Friday, Maher released on his new HBO show, "Real Time," an unaired clip of O'Donnell admitting to a brief dalliance with witchcraft.

Mistakes, yes, but I’m not a politician. This was an unusually stupid and unnecessary mistake for her to have made. Let’s hope she can do better going forward.

“Right now, I'm sending her money, and saying, “You want henbane with that?”

As Palin told Rove, it is time to buck up, stop whining and get behind the candidate that Delaware chose. Some freepers are whining concern trolls who love to bitch about the hand that we have been dealt.

COD might not be perfect, but she is more conservative that the RINO she eliminated and is not a communist like Coons.

As I said before, I’m not commenting on the validity or merit of O’Donnell’s case as I haven’t read it. It would be unfair for me to speak on anything without knowing the facts. I’m just commenting on a broad examination of employment lawsuits, which I have direct and indirect experience in. Experience tells me the repercussions of certain actions can have a devestating results from the big to the small and the unimaginable can become very real to the aggrieved party.

And, when I speak of an attorney in these cases, they don’t remind you, they count on and impose a constant reliving of it. Now, I agree that an attorney can’t dictate their will on you, but they engage in a psychological strategy to make you feel the pain in every step of the case, as you did the moment it occurred. Otherwise, trying to trump putting on an act. At least, that’s what the “good” attorneys do.

Regarding O’Donnell, I think that this story will vanish just like the Rand Paul civil rights, for lack of a better term, “thing.” They just don’t sway the electorate now as is plainly seen in the ineffective attempts to demonize the tea party for over a year and a half. Each report on jobs, unemployment data, and etc., is burying the traditional hit pieces. The msm, who would relish keeping a story like this front news, is having it’s hand forced by economic data to a larger degree than in past years. People want to know either exactly how you voted and/or exactly how you will vote. I think that the O’Donnell campaign is in no worse condition than it was before this story, and while not the perfect candidate, a viable one nonetheless.

Yes, it is. It just doesn't say what you think it does... /g

It says that the real conservative candidates we have, though some being not perfect, are viable.

While others may not think so, I believe that O'Donnell is in this group. She, like the others, have my support until "they" lose it.

I suggest she make a TV ad casting herself in the role of Samantha like the TV show Bewitched.

It would take the edge off this and cast it in a family light.

Maybe she could wiggle her nose a little. LOL

I agree that this non-story is meaningless in the context of this election.

The one thing that matters is the Democrat electorate of New Castle County. 3 out of 5 Delawareans live there, it is heavily Democrat and O'Donnell was beaten 60/40 there in the primary among GOP voters. She got less than 500 votes in Wilmington in the primary.

If the 2008 turnout for Obama was replicated for O'Donnell in 2010 in Kent and Sussex counties, she would still lose with decent, not spectacular, turnout by Democrats in New Castle. It was 55/45 Obama in Kent. It was 55/45 McCain in Sussex. It was 71/29 Obama in New Castle, so McCain lost the state by 25 points.

The high water mark for GOP election results in DE is 171K in 2004. The high water mark for GOP turnout in midterms is 167k in 2002. Even if the GOP turnout dramatically breaks all records and goes over 200k this year, it will be extremely difficult. With only 4% undecideds, it is also difficult.

O'Donnell is not exciting and new in DE. She's been running for office there for years. If she can pull this off, it will be welcome news, because it will mean that Paladino can win in NY.

Republican Senate nominee Christine O'Donnell doesn't need Facebook to dredge up her controversial past statements. As a sometime conservative pundit a decade ago on Bill Maher's former show, "Politically Incorrect", O'Donnell said (in an appearance that wasn't aired) that she dabbled in witchcraft. In the clip shown last night on Maher's current show, "Real Time," O'Donnell said: "I dabbled into witchcraft -- I never joined a coven. But I did, I did. ... I dabbled into witchcraft. I hung around people who were doing these things. I'm not making this stuff up. I know what they told me they do....

First off, I wasn't talking about whether she was qualified to run against Biden. I was talking about whether she is qualified to be the Republican VP nominee for 2012, which some other people on this thread have laughably suggested.

But since you asked.... She was qualified to run against Biden, but now she isn't?

All of these things were known 6 years ago, but because she knocked off the RINO darling, Castle, and might actually win the seat, the Establishment have gone after her with both guns.

First off, she didn't run for anything 6 years ago. I guess you're referring to two years ago, when she was trounced by Biden 65-35. Not coincidentally, she seems to be polling at about 35% now.

O'Donnell is light years better than Coon, that is the ONLY choice in this race.

Maybe, but Coons is going to win. The only choices in this race were Castle or Coons. Now, you might think we're better off with Coons in there than Castle, and you'd probably be right. But pretending that O'Donnell is going to somehow going to win in November is just plain unrealistic.

And pretending that she is VP material is just plain retarded.

"Have you read this thread? It’s not the left that is attacking her over this. It’s the right."

No, I have not looked at anything since I made my post--busy getting moss off the roof.

If we are attacking her it is just what the Left wants. This perception of disunity, on the other hand, may cause the Left to sit back down and think we are going to flub the ball just like Charlie Brown. I hope they stay on their couches with their bongs and video games.

Whether we are attacking Christine O'Donnell on this side issue, we must understand that if ABC News and Bill Maher knows about it, the Left knows about it. And what do you think the Left is going to do about it? Stuff it under the mattress? They are going to use it just when there is no time for O'Donnell to respond to it; like the last week of the campaign.

Also, in that ABC News report in this thread, it mentions that O'Donnell canceled two scheduled appearances on national Sunday news shows "Face the Nation" on CBS and "Fox News Sunday." That may have been a smart decision knowing how the State Owned Media has become a pack of wolves with the Tea Party and conservatives. She must control of the media, and not let the media control her.

By concentrating on the battle in Delaware, she can gain momentum that she has already built; especially if she plays the victim card by stirring up major outrage at the lies thrown out at her. This could inoculate her from further attacks and set the stage for a full can of wump ass she can throw at Coon. That's the ticket! Take play the victim card and take the offense at the same time!

Just to be clear, then that’s TWO conservatives who used the word “masses”? Just checking?

There's the very famous, La rebelión de las masas by José Ortega y Gasset.

Here's a description of it from Wikipedia. The part I put in bold sounds a lot like Barry Obama, doesn't it?
In this work, Ortega traces the genesis of the "mass-man" and analyzes his constitution en route to describing the rise to power and action of the masses in society. Ortega is throughout quite critical of both the masses and the mass-men of which they are made up, contrasting "noble life and common life" and excoriating the barbarism and primitivism he sees in the mass-man. He does not, however, refer to specific social classes, as has been so commonly misunderstood in the English-speaking world. Ortega states that the mass-man could be from any social background, but his specific target is the bourgeois educated man, the señorito satisfecho (satisfied young man or Mr. Satisfied), the specialist who believes he has it all and extends the command he has of his subject to others, contemptuous of his ignorance in all of them.
Except in Barry's case, he has no command of anything special except puerile notions of Marxism he has wedded to Alinsky. He's managed, though, to eff things up as thoroughly as people far better educated with far more noble intentions have by trying to substitute their limited, person experience for society as a whole.

"When they start canceling shows its a bad sign."

At first thought, I agree. However, many campaigns are not run with conventional wisdom. In this case, O'Donnell needs to make sure she is in control of the media. She can better use her time by making sure the people of Delaware have the truth unfiltered by the media. She can also concentrate on her primary mission: building the momentum she has already started. She can inoculate herself by convincing the people of Delaware that all the dirt are lies and she is being victimized. People are already getting sick and tired of this type of negative campaigning. It will not take much to get the message to the people.

While the victim card is being established, she can go on the offense against Coon.

No, no, no, wtc911. You have think on editor-surveyor's level.

You see, O'Donnell is a woman and a self-proclaimed Christian. Your posts demonstrate that you do not believe that O'Donnell is greatest thing ever to happen to America. Therefore, you must be against Christianity in general and, of course, must also hate all women.

That was a free trip through editor-surveyor's thought process, for lack of a better term.

You're welcome.

Kudos! Well said.

People are getting tired of this trivial character assassination. Compared to our nation being taken down the toilet by Zer0 and his minions on the Left, any person brave enough to stand up deserves to have our support.
