Karl Rove Says Christine O'Donnell Needs to Explain Witchcraft 'Dabbling' to Voters
AOL News ^ | 19/9/10 | Bruce Drake

Posted on 09/19/2010 1:16:35 PM PDT by Eleutheria5

Karl Rove, political mastermind for former President Bush, said Sunday that Christine O'Donnell, the Tea Party insurgent who won an upset victory in Delaware for the GOP Senate nomination, "can't simply ignore" the controversy stirred over the disclosure that she "dabbled in witchcraft" and has to find a way to "explain it and put it in its most sympathetic light and move on." "In southern Delaware, where there are a lot of church-going people, they're probably going to want to know what was that all about," Rove said on Fox News Sunday. "And again, she said it on television when she went on the ... the Bill Maher show." Rove was referring to an October 1999 appearance O'Donnell made on Maher's "Politically Incorrect" show where she said," I dabbled into witchcraft -- I never joined a coven... One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn't know it." O'Donnell had been on Maher's show frequently in the 1990s, and Maher has said he is going to show an O'Donnell clip each week until she agrees to appear again.

HE needs to explain why he didn't appear on the Hannity radio show after HE announced it on Twitter.

Tokyo Rove should try reading Michelle Malkin some time, regarding the edited clip (full clip embedded on site):

http://michellemalkin.com/2010/09/18/bill-mahers-witch-hunt-and-the-missing-context-for-odonnells-remarks/

With all the net resources at our disposal, he looks like a fool.

A confession to Karl Rove: Many years ago, I went to see the Maya ruins in Central America. While there, I dabbled in the study of the Maya culture, including the common practice of human sacrifice. However, that was a youthful time so I can state truthfully that I currently have no desire to remove any human hearts using stone knives.

Remember the “light as a feather, stiff as a board”...and the ouiji board? Young peeps dabble into things they shouldn't. I'm sure NO ONE here has "dabbled" into something they shouldn't have as a youngster.

One of my first girlfriends had a Quija Board and we, along with our friends occasionally messed with it, and the only thing that happened was everyone accusing someone of using their own hands to move the planchette, no big deal.

Then the Exorcist came out. My girlfriend and I went to see it. It scared the living daylights out of both of us. I told her that very night "we are getting rid of that damn Quija Board" and she agreed. That was on a Saturday night.

Sunday morning, I picked her up, she had the Quija Board, box and all, and tossed it in the back seat. We stopped along the way to the local dump, and I purposely took the board out and stomped on it, breaking it in two. Put it back in the box, laid it flat on the back floorboard.

We pulled up at the local dump (which was closed being Sunday), and before either of us could get out of the car, we both heard the fragments of the Quija Board rattling in the box, as if it were literally trying to get out.

I pulled the box out, tossed it about 4 or 5 feet, and we watched the damn thing jumping around as if there were rats or some kind of pest inside the box. I ran the damn thing over as we left at high speed, and never looked back.

Never fooled with a Quija Board again either.

we need to mass email Tokyo Rove and tell him to stuff it.

She's the nominee now and that seat is the most vital one in the race as, being a replacement seat, she would be seated immediately, giving us a voe to stop most of the disastrous moves the RAts are planning to shove through before Jan.

Rove needs to explain why he is aiding and abetting the enemy.

Hey Rove, both Obama and Biden called Castle immediately after he lost. WHY? That's a question that needs answering - along with why you are so freaked out that your boy lost. You were working behind the scenes for Castle, right? So, are you now working a deal with Obama and Biden and the Rats to defeat the People's Choice?

That's a question we need answered, Karl - ‘cause you ain't making no sense!

I agree. I plan to send her a check later in the week, when I’m sure it won’t bounce :-). Maybe Sharron Angle in Nevada, too. They didn’t win their primaries just by having a pulse, like the Democrat Greene in South Carolina. The voters want conservatism.

Holy Smokes. Well he has definitely gone over the deep end. He is now working for the dimoKKKRATS the way I see it. If he has it his way he is going to cost us some Senate seats so he can say “I told you so”. This is beyond pathetic. He is acting like a spoiled brat that needs a good whipping.

I have never understood Rove’s reputation for being some sort of political genius. I have never been a fan of his and his BS of late only reinforces my dislike for him.

He won 2 Presidential elections didn't he? He also won the 2002 midterms for us - midterms that we should have historically lost. President Bush calls Rove the architect of those victories. How many elections have you run and won? Who do you consider more of a "genius" at running campaigns than Rove?

Rove is a political strategist. He most definitely supports Republicans, but he is a realists. There are too many people here that have their eyes closed, squeezed shut, and then duct taped over for good measure.

Christine O'Donnell is just so unlikely to win in a state like Delaware, that Rove thinks it would have been far better to nominate the RINO. I agree with him. I'd rather have even the most loathesome RINO win that seat than a Democrat - especially when we had a shot of taking the Senate.

Nominating O'Donnell just means we will not win this seat. That is more or less all Rove was saying, and now he is just pointing out the reasons why. There may be years where it is worth nominating virtually anyone over a RINO. With the Senate in the balance, this wasn't one of them.

I never trusted Rove much, but this crap is really getting on my nerves.

He threw down the gauntlet today on Fox News Sunday. He challenged Sarah Palin to go to Delaware and get COD elected if she thought she could. It did not in the least sound like he was encouraging her to succeed, rather he hoped she would fail, making this race about Sarah, not himself.

Real slime that one, and FOX is promoting it to the hilt, I know of at least three opportunities they have given Tokyo Rove, in prime time, to trash COD.

Rove is an official GOP fund raiser. In fact he raises tens of millions of dollars. So he wouldn’t be criticizing a Republican who won her primary unless: (1) the GOP Establishment approved it and (2) he is getting money from someone, probably Castle who he was working for.

So this seems to say that the GOP leadership hasn’t given up on Castle yet. (Which is why neither Castle nor the Delaware Republican Party has endorsed O’Donnell.) I think their plan is to wait for a full investigation of O’Donnell, and at the mean time trash her in the media. The hope is that the investigation digs up so much bad stuff that O’Donnell is pressured to withdraw, with Castle taking her place.

You may be right, it may turn out that way. However, IIRC, Christine won the primary handily and in his criticism, Rove is crapping on the DE voters, and stamping his feet just like Olympic Snowe.

Newt Gingrich isn’t any different except he’s woken up to the power and scope of the Tea Party. In that respect he’s being more politically astute than Rove who seems to be in an on-going temper tantrum since the DE outcome.

That makes no sense. The primary is over, and O’Donnell is the nominee. Attacks on her, by Republicans, cannot undo the primary results, only indicate that the attacker doesn’t accept the verdict of the voters.

I’ve got no problem with a person’s supporting one primary candidate over another; that’s why we have primaries. But after that, you support your party’s choice or you’re supporting the opposition.

I don’t know if O’Donnell can win, but I know for sure that Castle won’t be on the November ballot, so get over him.
