Posted on 09/19/2010 1:16:35 PM PDT by Eleutheria5
Karl Rove, political mastermind for former President Bush, said Sunday that Christine O'Donnell, the Tea Party insurgent who won an upset victory in Delaware for the GOP Senate nomination, "can't simply ignore" the controversy stirred over the disclosure that she "dabbled in witchcraft" and has to find a way to "explain it and put it in its most sympathetic light and move on." "In southern Delaware, where there are a lot of church-going people, they're probably going to want to know what was that all about," Rove said on Fox News Sunday. "And again, she said it on television when she went on the ... the Bill Maher show." Rove was referring to an October 1999 appearance O'Donnell made on Maher's "Politically Incorrect" show where she said," I dabbled into witchcraft -- I never joined a coven... One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar, and I didn't know it." O'Donnell had been on Maher's show frequently in the 1990s, and Maher has said he is going to show an O'Donnell clip each week until she agrees to appear again.

Tokyo Rove should try reading Michelle Malkin some time, regarding the edited clip (full clip embedded on site):
With all the net resources at our disposal, he looks like a fool.
Also, there’s this: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2592006/posts
And if CNN says it, it must be true.
A confession to Karl Rove: Many years ago, I went to see the Maya ruins in Central America. While there, I dabbled in the study of the Maya culture, including the common practice of human sacrifice. However, that was a youthful time so I can state truthfully that I currently have no desire to remove any human hearts using stone knives.
think this is really all about Palin too. The RINO establishment really hates her. That is OK because I am sick of them and they are really showing their @$$ this year, aren’t they?
She's the nominee now and that seat is the most vital one in the race as, being a replacement seat, she would be seated immediately, giving us a voe to stop most of the disastrous moves the RAts are planning to shove through before Jan.
Rove needs to explain why he is aiding and abetting the enemy.
Hey Rove, both Obama and Biden called Castle immediately after he lost. WHY? That's a question that needs answering - along with why you are so freaked out that your boy lost. You were working behind the scenes for Castle, right? So, are you now working a deal with Obama and Biden and the Rats to defeat the People's Choice?
That's a question we need answered, Karl - ‘cause you ain't making no sense!
Good grief it was 11 years ago....... maybe he should watch the entire video, he would know this is much about nothing and more about Maher driving people to watch his very stupid show — in other words ratings.
I agree. I plan to send her a check later in the week, when I’m sure it won’t bounce :-). Maybe Sharron Angle in Nevada, too. They didn’t win their primaries just by having a pulse, like the Democrat Greene in South Carolina. The voters want conservatism.
I went to Catholic high school. I needed to do a paper on some other religion in theology class, so, just to be obnoxious, I picked Satanism and used the Satanic Bible.
“Speaking of Murkowsky, he also told folks in Alaska, if theyre going to vote for her as a write-in candidate, they need to make sure and spell her name correctly, or their vote wont count. Sheesh! Shut up already Karl.”
Holy Smokes. Well he has definitely gone over the deep end. He is now working for the dimoKKKRATS the way I see it. If he has it his way he is going to cost us some Senate seats so he can say “I told you so”. This is beyond pathetic. He is acting like a spoiled brat that needs a good whipping.
If not, he demonstrates that his analysis is shallow, self-serving and anything but objective.
OMG - she believes in Reagan’s Voodoo Economics.
He won 2 Presidential elections didn't he? He also won the 2002 midterms for us - midterms that we should have historically lost. President Bush calls Rove the architect of those victories. How many elections have you run and won? Who do you consider more of a "genius" at running campaigns than Rove?
Rove is a political strategist. He most definitely supports Republicans, but he is a realists. There are too many people here that have their eyes closed, squeezed shut, and then duct taped over for good measure.
Christine O'Donnell is just so unlikely to win in a state like Delaware, that Rove thinks it would have been far better to nominate the RINO. I agree with him. I'd rather have even the most loathesome RINO win that seat than a Democrat - especially when we had a shot of taking the Senate.
Nominating O'Donnell just means we will not win this seat. That is more or less all Rove was saying, and now he is just pointing out the reasons why. There may be years where it is worth nominating virtually anyone over a RINO. With the Senate in the balance, this wasn't one of them.
Therefore, you are the enemy.
Ohh, nooooo! She can't say that, it wouldn't be tolerant and might offend the wiccans and witchcrafters inside te "big republican tent".
Rove reminds me of those old Popeil/Ronco TV commercials:
“But Wait - There’s More!”
Hang it up, fool.
Yeah there is. I just think right now all signs indicate he’s pretty constipated from this whole ODonnell thing. Who knows, maybe he lost a really big private bet and he’s just pissed to heck about the whole thing.
Christine deserves credit for unmasking Rove, the saboteur.
Actually, that’s a Dylan song the Byrds covered albeit they dropped 2-3 verses.
That said, it’s the best Byrds song evah!
He threw down the gauntlet today on Fox News Sunday. He challenged Sarah Palin to go to Delaware and get COD elected if she thought she could. It did not in the least sound like he was encouraging her to succeed, rather he hoped she would fail, making this race about Sarah, not himself.
Real slime that one, and FOX is promoting it to the hilt, I know of at least three opportunities they have given Tokyo Rove, in prime time, to trash COD.
If your short on money send her a letter. The value of which is uncalculated. :^)
....Christine O’Donnell, I understand you are running to be Senator from Delaware, our first State. I understand you are under attack from the Establishment. I now have something to say about that........
I bought a book on Witchcraft once and frankly so many bad things started happening that I threw it in the garbage to get it out of the house... and the bad stuff “magically” stopped happening. Bottom line is many, many of us have done what people are ridiculing Christine for saying on Maher’s program.
If Karl was so smart, he would undertand this rule too and shut up: http://legalinsurrection.blogspot.com/2010/09/memo-to-right-lombardi-rule-is-in.html
No he does not. He is a backstabber
in the employ of Castle, Romney and the other backstabbers.
Oh Yes he did. He is part and parcel of the establishment. He has his knickers in a wad because voters in Delaware didn't see his "genius".
Not to mention the Apache shamans and Druid priests. The tent has gotten ridiculously big.
For Gods, sake grow up ....Rove didnt say something any other political guru wouldn’t say ....and also seemed hopeful the woman will win the race
He certainly came across as reasonable ....unlike the people here with their pitchforks
Wow. Did you eat paint chips as a kid?
It’s a temporary financial discrepancy which will be resolved on Friday! However, I will send a note, too. I don’t have any local races that need me this year (congresswoman and senator in safe seats) so I might as well help someone out of state.
Boycott Fox News. Nuff said.
Rove is an official GOP fund raiser. In fact he raises tens of millions of dollars. So he wouldn’t be criticizing a Republican who won her primary unless: (1) the GOP Establishment approved it and (2) he is getting money from someone, probably Castle who he was working for.
So this seems to say that the GOP leadership hasn’t given up on Castle yet. (Which is why neither Castle nor the Delaware Republican Party has endorsed O’Donnell.) I think their plan is to wait for a full investigation of O’Donnell, and at the mean time trash her in the media. The hope is that the investigation digs up so much bad stuff that O’Donnell is pressured to withdraw, with Castle taking her place.
You need to explain why that needs to be explained to you, Karl.
Or maybe you need it explained why Harry Potter books are a big success with teenagers.
You may be right, it may turn out that way. However, IIRC, Christine won the primary handily and in his criticism, Rove is crapping on the DE voters, and stamping his feet just like Olympic Snowe.
Newt Gingrich isn’t any different except he’s woken up to the power and scope of the Tea Party. In that respect he’s being more politically astute than Rove who seems to be in an on-going temper tantrum since the DE outcome.
That makes no sense. The primary is over, and O’Donnell is the nominee. Attacks on her, by Republicans, cannot undo the primary results, only indicate that the attacker doesn’t accept the verdict of the voters.
I’ve got no problem with a person’s supporting one primary candidate over another; that’s why we have primaries. But after that, you support your party’s choice or you’re supporting the opposition.
I don’t know if O’Donnell can win, but I know for sure that Castle won’t be on the November ballot, so get over him.
Understand my post. If he thought his words would create a backlash would he have made them. If so he is still a magnificent bastard.
They do say the Quija board is the “opening” of talking to the dead and bad spirits.
I do NOT for a moment doubt your story. Evil is just that....evil.
Seems to me that girls, such as you and I have learned our lessons. Obviously so has Christine. I don’t think the “boys” will get it though. It was usually us girls who were curious about it.
Well put marron!
Rove knows all about dabbling ... he’s now unemployable.
What is at stake is the Republic.
Christine believes as I do. I care about her vote, nothing else.
F... Karl Rove in the a.. with a pitchfork!
Anything short of full support of conservative candidates is INEXCUSABLE.
Interesting. I’ve read that certain artifacts (African, Indian whatever) can have that effect if they were once cursed or used in cursing someone.
Bottom line, one can’t be too careful when dealing with the occult or objects thereof, some of which appear quite innocent and innocuous at first.
So you don't care if you are being screwed. It just depends on who does it. Am I correct in this assumption?

You have ignored a critical fact. The Delaware GOP picked her in 2008 to run against Biden. The GOP would now have to say they did not vet O’Donnell at all.
“He challenged Sarah Palin to go to Delaware and get COD elected if she thought she could”
Does Rove still think he’s president? Maybe he was appointed king of the Republican Party.
