My inclination is to defend the father, and excoriate the school and bus system for neglect.

Do the second half, but the father should face charges. Let the Justice System meter out mercy, along with the public support for mercy. If we support him entering the bus, then the next time some father might shoot a child. I think this is why the father in this story has come out with an 'apology'. He accepts that he was 'in the wrong' legally.

But... if we don't follow up with public demand for responsibility of the bus DRIVER and the BUS MGMT and the SCHOOL for the safety of ALL the passengers, then we should be the one's apologizing, because the same stuff will continue to happen.

Maybe we need to have a bunch of LAWSUITS by parents of harmed children against the BUS companies. I bet they would solve the problem rather quickly.

“If I threatened every kid or stranger who bullied my daughter, or made fun of her, etc, I’d get no work done”

This little girl had a condom pulled over her head, was hit and pinched. This would seem to be one of the cases that needs to run right into dad’s brick wall,,,,

“Bullies don’t do what they do in defense of the helpless and innocent.”

BINGO.

These kids when they grow-up remind me of something Louis L’Amor wrote: “Why are the last people to grant mercy the first to ask for it?”

He would not have to apologize to me, even if he had booted the smartass kids in the ass

Had I been one of the smartass kids my dad would have thanked him then booted me again......

“He would not have to apologize to me, even if he had booted the smartass kids in the ass”

He is rendered unable to protect his kid and threatened by the government for making the attempt. He is overwhelmed.

The pressures of left wing statism are becoming explosive.

"He gazed up at the enormous face. Forty years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark moustache. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother."

“threatening to kill children”

Hyperbole.

It’s called hyperbole.

LOTS of people say they’re going to “kill you!” if you say anything about her love letter, about her playing sick; anything. Even when they’re really angry, it’s generally hyperbole for “beat the hell out of you”.

. . . here’s a black father and husband with a physically challanged daughter who’s being bullied by other students ,,,,, I say I feel the same exact way he feels ans I was personally proud of him for what he did ,,, The States Attorney and his laywer probably put him up to the apology .

For what it’s worth, you were absolutely right on calling this guy on his criminal behavior. No doubt I’ll take heat for saying that dad deserves at the very least an extended probation period where he has to check in frequently as a reminder not to screw up like this again.

Luckily, the police didn’t see it that way. If my kid were on that bus, I’d be making phone calls demanding that he be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. When guys like this aren’t taught a harsh lesson, they just act out more. Without punishment, he might actually hit a kid next time.

Doubt it. More likely their families will tell them to stay away from her, ‘cause her dad is psycho.
I know some people get a case of the vapors and faint dead away, at the idea of a Dad stopping a menace to his daughter. But i think it’s wonderful. We need more of that.

That was the norm in this country once,, things were better then.

And i think it’s funny, we always hear the ninnies whining that we need better fathers, especially in the black community. I think some people forgot what that sometimes means in reality! The classic angry dad. LOL

Kids are cruel. Their treatment of the disabled is akin to the Democrats’ of the unborn. It is sin in one of its more pure expressions. Shame on these kids, and God bless this dad.

The man went to the 'authorities', the school, the bus driver.

They did nothing.

When the social institutions which have taken the position of authority fail to exercise that authority, it is only just that that authority be reclaimed from those who were given it and exercised by those who are agrieved in their appeals.

It is not a decision to be taken lightly.

This man was verbally defending his family, a child with special needs who was being bullied. God Bless Him. We need more like him, if for no other reason than to teach the bullies their actions might lead to consequences they will not like--before the stakes are raised and someone utilizes lethal force to defend those who are incapable of self-defense.

And as for all the 'authorities' who are excoriating him to cover their collective asses, they can rot.

'Family involvement' used to keep a damper on the BS.

If only more black fathers (or sperm donors) cared about their children as this man obviously does.

I went back and revisited that thread from last week.

It went on for over a day. I saw your comments after I had left. Good for you.

Look. I understand the initial reaction that FReepers are having. The “knee-jerk” reactions to applaud that dad for kicking butt and so on.

But in the light of day - you just can’t do that.

I wonder how many of these FReeper parents would still have these same remarks if it were their kids on that bus (who had nothing to do with the bullying) and yet this man scared them half to death his his profane and violent threats?

If there is a next time,, he shouldn’t punch the kid. He ought to drag him off the bus and spank him in front of everyone.

Awwww, did the poor widdle parents get mad because the Mean Daddy menaced their widdle pweciouses? Well, maybe those kids shouldn’t have been picking on a DISABLED girl!

I personally have no problem with what that Dad did. Those kids should have their butts beaten for taunting that girl.
