A Pledge To America
Gop.gov ^ | September 21, 2010 | Republican Party

Posted on 09/24/2010 1:18:43 AM PDT by Wpin

America is more than a country.

America is an idea – an idea that free people can govern themselves, that government’s powers are derived from the consent of the governed, that each of us is endowed by their Creator with the unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. America is the belief that any man or woman can – given economic, political, and religious liberty – advance themselves, their families, and the common good.

America is an inspiration to those who yearn to be free and have the ability and the dignity to determine their own destiny.

Whenever the agenda of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to institute a new governing agenda and set a different course.

These first principles were proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence, enshrined in the Constitution, and have endured through hard sacrifice and commitment by generations of Americans.

In a self-governing society, the only bulwark against the power of the state is the consent of the governed, and regarding the policies of the current government, the governed do not consent.

An unchecked executive, a compliant legislature, and an overreaching judiciary have combined to thwart the will of the people and overturn their votes and their values, striking down longstanding laws and institutions and scorning the deepest beliefs of the American people.

An arrogant and out-of-touch government of self-appointed elites makes decisions, issues mandates, and enacts laws without accepting or requesting the input of the many.

Here is the link to the Pledge To America. I think it is good and hope you will take the time to read it. Let's get busy and get people to vote Republican! We need to take our country back and getting democrats out of power is the first step. Second step is a continuance of our efforts to bring the Republican party back to being an American party.

Um... I’m noticing one little problem right off the bat: The GOP is using a taxpayer funded server to host their site. They’re making other people pay for their stuff... Kinda like a certain Kenyan we all know. If the Party were really interested in reducing the size of government and the burden that government imposes on the American People, they would be paying for their own site and not dipping into our pockets to pay their way.

You are kidding right? Try reading the document and stop projecting nonsense.

Political lip service to mitigate their dubious job performance in recent decades. The reason the socialist Democrat party has gotten away with so much is because the GOP tacitly let them and in many cases helped them by playing along with this political Mutt and Jeff routine we call the two party system.

It could only be wished that this web server were the biggest drag on the public purse. Personally, I think it would be far more seemly if both parties got off of publicly funded servers, but the Rats really started this business of politicking on the tax dime masquerading as a public service and this pales next to that.

“and the common good. “
this line sticks.

“In a self-governing society, the only bulwark against the power of the state is the consent of the governed, and regarding the policies of the current government, the governed do not consent.”

This is true, hence the necessity of the inalienable right of secession, for if you have not the right to secede unilaterally then you must submit the fact that the government is governing without the consent of the governed to the same governing government.(Anyone guessing how thats likely to turn out?)

Thats why it was called the Declaration of INDEPENDENTS.

America is more than a country.
That's right! America is much more than just a country.
America is a nation! It is comprised of fifty sovereign States (countries) which joined together to form a union for specific purposes.

There are many "countries" in the world but few "nations".
It's s shame our politicians don't understand this better.

So I’m supposed to ignore the fact that the Party is latched onto the public teat as they wave their “pledge”?

Yer suppose to do the only thing you can do pick the lesser of the 2 evil and hope it actually comes thou.

The only back up plan I got requires us taking firm and radical control of State legislators, and even then will take a while to work.

So you can either do as I suggest or come up with your own backup plan. I’m all ears I’d love to hear your alternative idea of how we can force government to be more respectful of our rights.

Frankly I want other options. Because using our States to fix our education(Teach about constitutionality and liberty again), and implement nullification and coordinated interposition against unconstitutional Federal intrusion is all I got.

The alternative is to not fall for this RINO ruse.

The GOP is scared to death of the TEA Party activists. They represent a threat to these country-club, establishment elites. This “pledge” is suppose to distract you from the goal of replacing party hacks with candidates who will actually follow conservative principles; to stop you from supporting TEA Party candidates.

These RINOs have no wish to reduce the size of government. Instead, they want to control the big government apparatus that the Dems have put into place; they want power. If you support the TEA Party insurgency against the Party establishment, you pose a threat to that goal. Thus, the GOP establishment wants to distract you with this “pledge”. Don’t fall for it! They are putting the Party first and the nation last.

Right on!

21 PAGES of bromides!

DUH!

If the GOP was serious the Pledge would have been two words: THE CONSTITUTION.

Methinks I smell a stinking RINO.

If and when Cantor and Boehner and Company actually pass a budget that is literally balanced and spends under 2 trillion, I will say we have made progress.

For now I still wait and urge everyone to support the conservative candidates like Miller, Angle, Paul, O’Donnell etc.

No concrete proposals, only generalities. This is not Contract With America 2.

Well let’s put a contract out on all RINO’s and get rid of them too. America will benefit greatly——now on to November and bug spray the Dems liberally.

I trust the GOP as much as I trust Mccain, as his ilk seem to control it.

The GOP is really no different than the democrats. They would have supported most of the democrats bills if it wasn't for them knowing they aren't guaranteed a win in November.

They should put a condition in their "pledge" that says they will resign if they don't live up to it.
