Anyone Notice The War Next Door?
IBD Editorials ^ | September 28, 2010 | Investors Business Daily staff

Border: Remember when al-Qaida targeted tribal leaders and local officials to assert power in the Iraq War? Today, the story repeats itself on our own doorstep. But incredibly, the Beltway crowd doesn't seem to care.

Mexico's war against drug and alien-smuggling cartels grows ever more similar to the horrors of Afghanistan and Iraq. Beheadings, stonings, car bombs and terrorist attacks speak to a lust for power every bit as implacable as that of the Afghanistan's Taliban or the insurgents of Iraq.

The cartels may seem to be just a police problem, but Mexico's own officials know better: President Felipe Calderon warns that everything about their actions says they mean to take over.

But even with such a nearby threat, there are no U.S. crisis task forces or special envoys. The Northern Command hasn't been bolstered. The unbuilt border fence is one excuse after another, hostage to domestic and electoral politics.

President Obama can't even be bothered to visit the borderlands in Arizona, where, for the first time in history, U.S. control and sovereignty over our own territory is being ceded to foreign cartels.

Does anyone care that a cartel has threatened to destroy a dam in Texas? Oregon officials report huge new cartel marijuana fields on a scale never seen earlier.

The Los Angeles Police Department even warns that five cartels have set up logistics operations in America's second-largest city.

It should be a national security crisis of the highest priority, right?

The Obama regime has. That’s why they sent Holder’s boys to Arizona to work over Brewer and Arpaio who are fighting the border wars for OUR side.

If our government didn’t want this it wouldn’t be happening. That includes Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, etc.

Very few people know about the gravity of the situation, outside of Arizona, Texas and New Mexico.

There is a news lock down in Mexico, and the MSM does not cover it well.

If ou want to see the cuture of the drug gangs and war details go here( illegal rogue site run by a Mexican web security expert, translation function available):

http://www.blogdelnarco.com

the video archive showing filmed assassinations, jihadist style are here ( warning, graphic violence):

http://www.blogdelnarco.com/p/exclusividad.html

The drug cartels control illegal access to border crossings
in Arizona and New Mexico, thats how they recruit their drug mules.Obama apparently wants this to continue. IMHO, this is the source for the Obama brown shirts.

If all of America knew what was being imported along with illegal aliens, there would be a national outcry. Arizona is the only state to act, and Obama stopped them.Obama is a traitor, truly and without doubt.

Pat Dollard has. Read his journals from the border at Breitbart's Big Peace: http://bigpeace.com/author/pdollard/

To the best of my knowledge, Dollard was the first American journalist to describe the problems next door as an insurgency. And one that mirrors what he saw firsthand in Ramadi before the surge.

The insurgency has already spilled over into our territory and I'm afraid that it won't be long until it reaches a level within our borders that Americans and the state media won't be able to ignore it or suppress the truth any longer.

Thanks for posting that link. Wasn't aware of it.

Here's another very disturbing blog about the situation to our south: http://www.borderlandbeat.com/

It's hit the fan so hard in Mexico, I'd rather take a holiday in Fallujah than anywhere down there. I think there are more death squad executions and decapitations per capita or per day than Iraq ever experienced in its worst days.

Thats right, no way I would go to Mexico without at least one pard to cover my back, and a pick up truck full of hunting supplies along with 6 thousand rounds of .223

Most people have no idea. Thanks for posting the article, perhaps we will push back the veil of secrecy a few inches.

But if we don't help Mexico soon, we may find out Mexico's war has become ours, too.

I think it already is and I am not sure which side our government is on.

Mexico, in addition to being one of the most corrupt countries in the world, has been in a state of Civil War for decades. We in our snug, air conditioned houses have not yet noticed the carnage on our wide open borders. Perhaps when they march through the streets of DC and disrupt Congress we may close the border (after conferring citizenship on all aliens carrying a rifle).

Here is a glimpse of what lies ahead if we fail to end our second attempt to control the personal habits of private citizens. Listen to Enrique Gomez Hurtado, a former high court judge from Colombia who still has shrapnel in his leg from a bomb sent to kill him by the infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar. In 1993, his country was a free-fire zone not unlike Mexico today, and Gomez issued this chilling — and prescient — warning to an international drug policy conference in Baltimore:

“The income of the drug barons is greater than the American defense budget. With this financial power they can suborn the institutions of the State, and if the State resists . . . they can purchase the firepower to outgun it. We are threatened with a return to the Dark Ages.”

Profits from the Mexican drug trade are estimated at about $35 billion a year. And since the cartels spend half to two-thirds of their income on bribery, that would be around $20 billion going into the pockets of police officers, army generals, judges, prosecutors and politicians. Last fall, Mexico’s attorney general announced that his former top drug enforcer, chief prosecutor Noe Ramirez Mandujano, was getting $450,000 a month under the table from the Sinaloa cartel. The cartel can of course afford to be generous — Sinaloa chief Joaquin Joaquin Guzman recently made the Forbes List of Billionaires.

The depth of Joaquin Guzman’s penetration into the United States was revealed a few weeks ago, when the DEA proudly announced hundreds of arrests all over the country in a major operation against the “dangerously powerful” Sinaloa cartel. One jarring detail was the admission that Mexican cartels are now operating in 230 cities inside the United States.

This disaster has been slowly unfolding since the early 1980s, when Vice President George H.W. Bush shut down the Caribbean cocaine pipeline between Colombia and Miami. The Colombians switched to the land route and began hiring Mexicans to deliver the goods across the U.S. border. But when the Mexicans got a glimpse of the truckloads of cash headed south, they decided that they didn’t need the Colombians at all. Today the Mexican cartels are full-service commercial organizations with their own suppliers, refineries and a distribution network that covers all of North America.

As we awaken to the threat spilling over our southern border, the reactions are predictable. In addition to walling off the border, Congress wants to send helicopters, military hardware and unmanned reconnaissance drones into the fray — and it wants the Pentagon to train Mexican troops in counterinsurgency tactics.

Our anti-drug warriors have apparently learned nothing from the past two decades. A few years ago we trained several units of the Mexican army in counterinsurgency warfare. They studied their lessons, then promptly deserted to form the Zetas, a thoroughly professional narco hit squad for the Gulf cartel, which offered considerably better pay. Over the past eight years, the Mexican army has had more than 100,000 deserters.

The president of Mexico rightly points out that U.S. policy is at the root of this nightmare. Not only did we invent the war on drugs, but we are the primary consumers.

The obvious solution is cutting the demand for drugs in the United States. Clearly, it would be the death of the cartels if we could simply dry up the market. Unfortunately, every effort to do this has met with resounding failure. But now that the Roaring ‘00s have hit the Crash of ‘09, the money has vanished once again, and we can no longer ignore the collateral damage of Prohibition II

What is happening in Mexico is fascism at its worst.

Few know of it.

I watched one video oon BlogDelNarco where teenagers were being made into cartel members.

One had to tolerate being beaten with a piece of 2 x 4. I mean they really laid into him. If he said “no mas,” they can shoot him, or beat him near to death and leave him maimed.

Appalling.

And Obama wants this $hit brought into the USA? WTF?

People have got to get straight on what the feds are doing. Its treasonous.

And it might just start a civil war.

After reading that the drug cartels pay up to $20B each year in bribes, I think I understand what is going on in the world, at least a glimpse, and I am horrified.

If the Cartels pays $20B, how much are the Saudis bribing the our reps in Congress thru offshore accounts to keep us from drilling our own oil?

How much are the Chinese bribing our Reps to buy their junk and destroy our manufacturing infrastructure, then the American People get saddled with paying back the bribes at interest?

How much did Bill & Hill get for China / Loral?

How much did Obama get from Soros for the drilling Moratorium in the Gulf besides the $2B to Petrobas?

How much did Barney Fag and Chris Dodd get to destroy Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac.

If there is a God in Heaven, history will show that the American People trusted the Scum-Sucking politicians to do their job, their fiduciary duty, and the American People got sold down a river. Things are fast coming to a head, people.

That's why these sh*tbags want their jobs so badly. That's why that evil sob rolled over for Obama and then tried to eviscerate JD. That's why a $250k / yr job is worth a $500M campaign budget. That's why these a$$holes are doing just the opposite of what the American People want. They are COMPLETELY on the take.

The obvious solution is cutting the demand for drugs in the United States.

Cut welfare payments and declare unemployment benefits do not go to a person canned because of violating a company drug screen.

Dry up the easy money, and let CHL/Armed home-owner take care of those who go criminal to support their habit. Lots of problems can be solved in less than a year. Go long on the commodities copper, lead and lime (CaO).

If what you and Gilbo_3 have just said is true; aren’t we far beyond the point where calling or emailing one’s congressman regarding any issue is anything but totally silly?
