I'll probably get flamed for saying it, but the last thing we need in Congress as we try to climb out of this pit are any moral reprobates. People of high moral character have a much better liklihood of withstanding the seductive temptations of power and all its alluring trappings, and of remaining commited to the oath they took and the promises they made to their voters.

Quite frankly (pardon the pun), people who don't believe in God are unfit for public office. Paraphrasing, Madison said, 'This Constitution is intended only for a morally upright, religious people, and is wholly unfit for any other. How can we expect somone who won't obey God's Law to obey Man's Laws?'

Forgive me this seemingly heartless discernment, but Barney Fag is the diametric opposite of a "morally upright" person. He and all his ilk have many things they may be able to do well in life (fashion design, sous chef, Jello-wrestling), but legislating for the rest of us isn't among them.

We were in Tobago back in the '70's, and a guy in my pack got into a "babash" drinking contest with a native dude. Babash is a locally brewed 190 proof bootleg rum (of sorts). Interestingly, the native guy had a pre-arranged deal with the bartender to keep slipping him shots of water. LMAO!

Our buddy staggered out of the place, and after about half an hour, we went looking for him. We figured he couldn't get far, as he could barely walk. We found him passed out on a fire-ant mound.

He spent 6 weeks in the hospital, and almost died from the full-thickness sepsis all over his back that required extensive skin grafts to keep all his stuffing in.

Barney might make an excellent such study.
