Exclusive: Gibbs eyed for DNC chair By: Mike Allen October 2, 2010 09:41 AM EDT

Democratic insiders are taking the temperature of some top party donors about the possibility of naming White House press secretary Robert Gibbs as chairman of the Democratic National Committee heading into President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign in 2012, senior officials tell POLITICO.

Under the scenario being tested, Tim Kaine, the current DNC chairman and former governor of Virginia, would be named to a top administration post, perhaps in the Cabinet, the officials said.

Donors’ response has been positive, according to people who have been consulted.

Gibbs, one of the president’s closest confidants, already had been planning to leave the podium next year, perhaps to become a White House senior adviser.

Gibbs joined Obama in April 2004, as communications director for his U.S. Senate race, and later was his Senate communications director. Gibbs was communications director of Obama’s presidential campaign before becoming “senior strategist for communications and message” during the general election.

The logic for a Chairman Gibbs, according to one official: It would “put the Obama imprimatur on the DNC, once and for all,” and install a “great partisan fighter” as the face of the national party for the reelection campaign. “It’s a brilliant idea if he ends up deciding he wants to do it,” said one official who has been consulted.

Please, please, please make this happen. If you are looking for a fool who is more inept than Tim Kaine, then Gibbs is your man.

Good question, who would replace Gibbs?

Christine Matthews?
Keith Uberdork?
Rachael "I want to be a man" Maddow?
Ed "Sgt" Schultz ?
How about that Sanchez fellow? Just keep him away from the Jews.

...naming White House press secretary Robert Gibbs as chairman of the Democratic National Committee heading into President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign in 2012, senior officials

Interesting that Zero is setting up an inside man in a very important position that basically controls the dollars.

From the DNC website

The Democratic National Committee plans the Party’s quadrennial presidential nominating convention; promotes the election of Party candidates with technical and financial support and voter mobilization; and works with national, state, and local party organizations, elected officials, candidates and constituencies to respond to the needs and views of the Democratic electorate and nation.

I guess Obama isn't happy with being a one term POTUS. I guess he never figured out it would take two full terms to destroy the country
