Rush Limbaugh was on 'Family Guy': Who Took More Hits, the Right or the Left?
Entertainment Weekly ^ | 10/4/10 | Adam Marcovitz

The gloves were off for Rush Limbaugh’s guest-star duty as himself on last night’s Family Guy.

Gearing up to meet his arch-nemesis at a local book signing, liberal canine Brian called the right-wing pundit a Nazi and a fascist who “singlehandedly set political discourse back 100 years.”

Throughout the episode, Rush didn’t hesitate to take his share of punches — including a particularly ego-free joke about man-boobs.

But he threw plenty, too, ribbing bleeding-heart liberal values, poking fun at Lois’ belief in global warming (saying it makes her sound “like a Jew”), and going to town on the left-leaning haters who denounce him without listening to his arguments.

They even let him convert liberal Brian.

After Limbaugh rescued him from a back-alley beatdown, the four-legged Griffin agreed to read one of Rush’s books — and he actually liked it. A lot.

Before long, the two were teamed up for an all-out musical number, “Republican Town,” as well as a jaunt to a church devoted to Ronald Reagan to burn two abortion patients at the stake.

Check out the clip for a peek at the episode and a few words from Limbaugh himself.

The show definitely skewered Brian’s hardcore conservative conversion, but overall it seemed like a pretty fair fight to me.

I watched the show. Frankly it reminded me of why I stopped watching Family Guy years ago. It just wasn’t funny.

Hysterical episode and I personally thought it made Limbaugh a little more “human.” I was admittedly shocked at Brian’s change of heart, but I’m sure McFarlane and the gang will be back at channeling dead hippies next week.

It wasn’t very funny at all. AD was better by a little bit. FG was a riot during the first few seasons though.

We watched the show last night and it just was not funny. It could have been hysterical, very disappointing.

I suppose it depends on the lens through which you watch the show. I find that if you go into with no expectations and a light heart, it is amusing and enjoyable. There have been episodes that made me change the channel, but in general they stay away from the politics stuff.

I believe politics is much more at play in The Cleveland Show and American Dad, both McFarlane productions.

This is the frist time I have ever watched. In the end, when Rush leaves, he promises to return as the Liberals sterotype of a stupid conservative oaf they know us all to be. In the end, they frame it the way they want: Rush loses.

This was the first episode of this show I watched and I thought it was very funny. The liberal mother was particularly skewered!

The ending shows Rush in a great light, summing up the whole episode as being able to self-deprecating while holding firm to his beliefs. After all, it was the liberal who flip-flops, not Rush!

That’s true. The first 2 seasons of Am Dad were a riot to watch and had some good moments especially when Am Dad went to the National Gun Association with his lib daughter. After that episode, just like the Simpsons..it became a lib propaganda piece.

The portrayal of Bush as a little kid and Cheney as a hideous monster was not funny but meant to underscore the left’s contempt for both of them. Too many “digs” at conservative’s being anti-abortion... overall, not worth the time I took to watch it. Ice Road Truckers was much more interesting.

I watched the very first episode of Family Guy. It cured me of any further desire to watch the show.

First time I ever watched. I have no interest in seeing it again, but I wonder if any liberals changed their minds about Rush.

I never read the guide info or the paper TVGuide. The commercials didn’t allude to the Limbaugh/Brian thing, but I suppose you could infer that from the info, eh?
