History shows liberals are stupid enough to do just about anything - repeatedly.

The Elite are already planning to take your 401k. In fact, I think it will happen in the next 10 years no matter who is in power. Why? Because its a huge chunk of money that the government wants.

I love "The Dark Knight".

There's a scene where the The Joker has stolen $60M from the Gotham crime lords and then barges into one of their meetings.

Crime Lord: You think you can steal from us???
Joker: Yeah.

Heath Ledger delivers the line beautifully. No pause. No thought. Just an absolute statement: "Yeah."

As the (gov’t) system collapses, they’ll be looking for ANY means by which to prop it up, even temporarily.

When they go for it, there won’t be much time left before total collapse, so our latent reaction time will probably be about the time everything goes to hell.

Can’t Senate Republicans filibuster anything that comes down in a lame duck session of Congress? Don’t lame duck sessions of Congress have to obtain cloture?

I’m a bit skeptical about these reports. I think they are an attempt to get the left wing base out for the election.

Absolutely they are dumb, and evil enough.

They passed a bill they didn’t read, that 70% of the electorate didn’t want, and now, refuse to mention that bill in re-election efforts.

Is that behavior of a benevolent, intelligent political party?

“...Yes, the individuals who’ve been defeated in 2010 won’t technically have anything to lose by voting for insanity…and they could leave office giving their constituents a giant F-U. But what happens to them then?

Ben Nelson saw in Nebraska what happens when an elected official bucks the will of the people and does something crazy: after casting the deciding vote for Obamacare in the Senate on Christmas Eve, Nelson has been booed at, spit upon, and harassed everywhere he goes in Nebraska. I expect this to continue for the rest of his life…and it will be remembered when he’s up for re-election in a few years. His career is over, and any hope he had of spending his retirement as a celebrity former Senator being wined and dined all over town is gone. The man is a pariah, as well he should be.

This is what would happen to everyone who uses that lame duck session to screw over the American people.

Bigger picture than just these individuals, I don’t know how the Democrats would ever recover from doing something like this in the lame duck session.

The party’s brand has already taken punches that will take years to heal from, just from alienating all the Jacksonian/Clinton Democrats who are now Independent and siding with Republicans — and will continue to do so for years to come.

But if Democrats really and truly tried to take people’s 401(k) funds away from them and redistribute those to the unions…or tried to ram through Cap & Tax or other madness during that lame duck session…it’s impossible to imagine the blowback the Democrat Party would suffer.

This would, in fact, permanently equate Democrats with Communists in the minds of Americans.”

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I don’t think the suicidal discipline the dems have had will hold after this. It’s already starting to fall apart.

My pet theory is that the rank-and-file turn on the leadership and on Obama with a vengeance.

That’s why they do these things via stealth...like they did payroll witholding taxes on income.
Communism by the teaspoon...
Clever scheme , really.
Just the plan being floated out there is enough to get some to stop investing in their personal retirement. A bill in Congress would stop even more. Thus they realize their goal of even more people retiring and being dependent on the gubermint and increasing the AARP / Demonrat voting bloc.
And old farts are less likely to take up arms.( at least they used to be)
The Rats would get support from the moocher class:

Frankly, I don't think even the Democrats are that stupid.

The Republicans will be able to tie it up in the Senate, so it's simply not going to happen.

But I will admit: I actually hope the Democrats will try. As the author of this article points out, it will destroy the party.

No one except union members and welfare recipients will ever take them seriously again.

No one thought they were crazy enough to try ObamaCare.

So far, they seem to be getting away with it - all the Repubs running aren't saying much.

But I remember some pretty intense town hall meetings last year.

They went ahead and did it anyway. "Stop us if you can".

So yeah, they'll try this. Like all psychos, they want to see just how far they can go.

Out and out theft? Sure, we can do anything. You'll get over it. Now hand over the cash, or we send men with guns to take it from you.

It's not Armed Robbery when the government does it to you, right?

It's the only way they know how to govern, threats and intimidation. They are a nation-wide LABOR UNION.

This election should not only be about neutering the obama administration, but also about disbanding unions and the democrat party.

It doesn't matter what they USED to be, it only matters what they have become - America's enemies.

“Can’t Senate Republicans filibuster anything that comes down in a lame duck session of Congress? “

Only if there is political will. I suspect things like HCR get passed because the opposition secretly doesn’t mind. In HCR that’s a huge transfer of wealth and power to the political class. If you’re part of the ruling elite, what’s not to like? And if you have plausible denyability when it’s passed, that’s a double bonus!

I never forget that Republicans are politicians too.

Additional to that there are Democratic Senators who will be up for election in 2012 (like Bill Nelson of Florida) who simply are not going to commit political hari-kari for the 'bamster.

Heading into lame-duck hell.

At worst, the GOP will head in the lame duck session with 40 seats. At best they will have 42 (The winner of Byrd’s and Biden’s old seats will be sworn in immediately).

Under either scenario the GOP will have enough votes to filibuster anything the Dems try to do during a lame duck session.

And if the GOP doesn’t, there will be **** to pay.

Personally, after we see how badly the Dems lost in 2010, I think enough Democrat senators up for election in 2012 that will thinking about their own skin and refusing to go along with these extreme proposals.

IMHO, the hard working farmers have been paying so much attention to work they neglected politics.

They didn’t realize the “party of the little folk” had taken a hardleft turn towards socialism and even a touch of tyranny.

I meet a lot of them here in FL, retired. They vote Democrat reflexively, for the unions and out of outdated opinions (”My family was always a Democratic family!”).

Obama is busy educating them. I cannot tell you how many friends I have in their forties and such, who have told me they cannot get their parents to vote anything but Demo even though the families are conservative through and through.

Obama is actually changing that. It’s great to see.
